Slideshow And Image Transitions With Different Arrays
May 3, 2011
I'm doing a javascript slideshow with image transitions. The way it's setup at the moment that slideshow and image transitions are two separate "modules" with different arrays.
First array for images looks like this:
NewImg = new Array (
"photos/1.JPG",
"photos/2.JPG"
);
Second it's a source for my thumbnails:
function photo() {
document.getElementById('div1').innerHTML = "<img src='photos/1.JPG' id='photo' class='photo'>";
}
function photo2() {
document.getElementById('div1').innerHTML = "<img src='photos/2.JPG' id='photo' class='photo'>";
}
etc..
Is it possible to include the second one, thumbnails into the first array?

Between each of my image transitions is a blank period, in which no image is onscreen (verified by rightclicking blank spot).

I'm working on a project and I need some advice/help on how to build a slideshow using arrays in javascript. What I'm trying to accomplish is having an array of 16 different photos and a button that you can click to display the next image. When the last image is reached it will then start over at the first image. I can put all the photos in the array and I have created the next button but im not sure how to make the function.

See attached mock-up of my site's order table... if I can figure out how to upload an image... [IMG] The user is allowed to change the quantity of items (input fields in the green box) to select which suppliers to order from, and based on this the values in the red boxes should be calculated. It should be a simple problem of multiplying quantities by prices and summing across suppliers for each product... but I want to do it in javascript without reloading the page : )
All values are taken from my database and stored in a php associative array - which seems to be the main complicating factor as it's quite a deep one. $products[13789]['sellers'][3]['products_price'] = 16.99 How would you guys tackle this? Are there any examples/tutorials out there you can point me to?

I'm trying to get rollover images to work that are a little more complex than usual. I have a webpage that presently gives information on four groups within an organization. I've put each group within its own div with an id. The div contains a short description of what the group does, thumbnails pictures of each member of the group, and to the right of these thumbnails, a larger picture. This larger picture is supposed to change, when ever the mouse is over a thumbnail to a normal size picture of the thumbnail, for the first part.
I tried to put in a script that will preload all the original images that should be changed. First I created an array with all the names of the divs, then used two for loops, one nested inside the other to get the pictures into the array. Tried to get the names of the array to hold the pictures from the first array with the names (inames), using a two dimensional array (used an example from a post on this forum) but it seemed to have gone astray, as the onmouseover doesn't work. Code:

Ihave 2 simular image changing arrays on a page that are targeted to different images that are layered on top of each other (zBodBox.gif & zPWBox.gif). The images are being replaced with other transparent gifs so that the image below shows the transparent pixels of the overlaying image.The transparent gifs work, the links work, the problem is that I don't know how to make the arrays seperate and work independently so that they replace the image intended. This is for a website I am building for a prouuct I have just received a patent for so it is not on the net at this time. I could email you the entire file including the images if necessary. My email address is:stevenbraid@gmail.comIf someone could please help me work out this bug I could get my product to market. I am sorry the code is so long but as it is not up and running yet this is the best I can do. I have streamlined the code as best as I can without leaving out the essentuals.
Code:
<HTML>

I am trying to write a script to display pictures. I have the following code which works OK for displaying the next or prior picture. I know there are plenty of scripts out there for this, but I want to do it myself. So, I'll worry about the pause/play later. I dont know how to write the image using javascript. My problem that I currently want to fix is the first picture displayed is not initialized; that is, the variable I guess. I am passing the directory name, which is this first function. So, I have to click NEXT or BACK (my buttons) to display the first picture (actually the 2nd)... Code:

I'm hoping that someone can answer what is probably a really simple question. I've got the Random Image Slideshow script from javascript.com and have it placed in my site where I want it. Now how do I get it to read where I've got the images I want displaying? The folder I have is called homeimages with 10 photos currently inside it.

I'm going to set up a fade-in/fade-out slideshow, probably with jquery, that will loop through a list of images. But I only want the very first image to be shown once and then not again, even if the screen is refreshed. I don't know much about how to do that but I'm guessing it has something to do with a session, or cookies?

how I can make simple fade transitions between a series of images using Javascript. I found a tutorial online that does this. However, it doesn't look right because instead of a straight fade from one image to the next, it fades out to white, and quickly fades the new image in from white. That would look ok in some instances, but for my site it would look quite annoying! I also understand that there is an easy way to do what I want in IE, but it is necessary that this works in ALL major browsers. I also do not want to use CSS3 because few browsers actually support that yet.

I want to add a nice transition that fades the old content out of my content div, retrieve the new content via Ajax, perform a resize animation on the div's height to fit the new content, and fade the new content in.
I can fade content in and out, and retrieve the data via Ajax. The content div will also resize itself to fit the new content. I'm stuck with animating the div's change in height though. More specifically, I can't figure out how to find the current height of a div in Javascript. I've tried the following:
get the height offset
var currentHeight = parseInt(getElementById("content_layer").offsetHeight);
get the actual height
var currentHeight = parseInt(getElementById("content_layer").style.height);
These do not work, however. "style.height" appears to come up as undefined. When I set "currentHeight" to this, and print the results to a textbox, value is displayed as "NaN". I do have div heights animating, but I can't find the destination height to animate to.

Alrighty so here's what I have. Live example: [URL] It's a image slideshow that dynamically gets all the images (via php) in the current directory and puts them into the slideshow array. The array then randomly displays the images in the slideshow (via javascript). There are 5 images in the folder rotateimage which also has the php script getimages.php in it. Currently only the first image fades in however I want all the images to fade in as the first one does.

I am using a slideshow and want to basically have an 'image loading' whilst all the images load before the slideshow. Is there a way to do this? So far I have figured the best way around this is to have a GIF as a background image that says the loading message, and then once the slideshow loads over the top its fine, however im guessing this is'nt the right way to do this. I am using this slideshow set to just loop:

I am open to using other similar slideshows if there is one more suited.

I trying to get the image in the masthead to cycle through a small number of images. The image is the background-image of the div 'masthead'.
It works in Firefox but I'm getting an error in IE. The error is 'invalid argument' and refers to the j increment. I can't see the prob.
Also the slideshow is a bit abrupt and I need to make the images fade into each other. My old method and examples I've seen on the web don't seem to work. Does anyone know how to do it? Code:
