Dec 19, 2005How could I make a random image slideshow with the images being in a folder and not listed in the head tag? (I have over 1,000 images and do not want to list them all in my index page)?

Random Image Load Into 4 Divs From Same Folder?
Sep 21, 2009I am trying to get images to load randomly into 4 different divs on my page from the same source folder. However I do not want any repeats in any of the 4 boxes. Is there a code to do this? I have looked all over and can only find random image load for one location and doesn't register if the image has been loaded in a previous div yet or not

Jan 27, 2010What I have is a site with about 10 pictures, each of these pictures needs to be randomly pulled from folders, each picture slot will have its own folder, due to it being categorized. When the picture is clicked i need it to open a new page with the document associated to the picture. Is there a way to do this without having to rewrite the code every time? Because as there are new documents added at the end of each week.Unfortunately the server I use doesn't support PHP, but if it has to be done in PHP I can switch.Like I said though I haven't messed around with web design in a long time

Now how do I get it to read where I've got the images I want displaying? The folder I have is called homeimages with 10 photos currently inside it.

Aug 5, 2010I'm using a jquery script to have a background image slideshow, but I can't make the images to shuffle. I need to do this, as on every click on the website, page reloads, and the background slideshow starts again on the first picture. I would prefer a random pic start.
The script so far is doing the job on covering the whole browser screen, fade on transition, and user controls (back, play / pause, next), wich I need to keep.

May 24, 2011I am looking to build a slideshow (basic, with next/previous options, e.g jquery cycle) but I would like it to get the images from a specific folder. So, whenever I want the slideshow updated, I would simply drop the files in a folder and that would do it.
Would this require a php script? If yes, direct me to somewhere to find out more...Or if there are other ways.

JQuery :: FadeIn Being Biased Image Won't Appear When It Is In A Sub Folder?
Nov 22, 2010I'm not to sure if this is a bug or not, but for some reason the jquery setup I am using does not load images when you have the images placed in a sub folder. The setup is a simple content switcher, and it is a combination of fadeOut, .load and fadeIn.[URL]... If you click on Refresh01, it will load and fadeIn the page, which says "TEST01 TEST01.........." great! But an image should have been displayed too.

Specifically, I'm trying to figure out why this line of code is not making my images display in the background:

Problem: No images load, and I believe I don't fully understand the .appendTo tage.. I don't know if #body is correct. The author of the plugin assumed I understood the relation. Also #homePage may be incorrect as well.
Additionally, I found another plugin that worked for placing an image in the background (not random), and the background image would scale to size, according the users window. I loved that and it worked, just wanted to add random images to the same script.... first things first... I can't even get an image to display at all with the above code.
In case you wanted to know the script I was using to scale the background image, here it is below (although, as you will see in the code for my site - this image feature is disabled as I am trying to make adjustments).

Feb 16, 2011Here's what I usually use and have been using for years and it works great, just not for this particular purpose. I don't have a clue when it comes to javascript.

But, now I want to be able to set a default picture to be shown first and have the random pics appear next. I also don't want the default pic to show up again in the random array. So basically, every time the page was first visited, or refreshed it would show the default picture then move into the random pics.

Jan 9, 2006I am trying to write a script to display pictures. I have the following code which works OK for displaying the next or prior picture. I know there are plenty of scripts out there for this, but I want to do it myself. So, I'll worry about the pause/play later. I dont know how to write the image using javascript. My problem that I currently want to fix is the first picture displayed is not initialized; that is, the variable I guess. I am passing the directory name, which is this first function. Show First Slideshow Image Only Once?
Jun 10, 2009I'm going to set up a fade-in/fade-out slideshow, probably with jquery, that will loop through a list of images. But I only want the very first image to be shown once and then not again, even if the screen is refreshed. I don't know much about how to do that but I'm guessing it has something to do with a session, or cookies?

Image Slideshow With Fading Images
Jan 21, 2010Alrighty so here's what I have. Live example: [URL] It's a image slideshow that dynamically gets all the images (via php) in the current directory and puts them into the slideshow array. The array then randomly displays the images in the slideshow (via javascript). There are 5 images in the folder rotateimage which also has the php script getimages.php in it. Currently only the first image fades in however I want all the images to fade in as the first one does.

Image Loading Message For Slideshow?
Jun 11, 2011I am using a slideshow and want to basically have an 'image loading' whilst all the images load before the slideshow. Is there a way to do this? So far I have figured the best way around this is to have a GIF as a background image that says the loading message, and then once the slideshow loads over the top its fine, however im guessing this is'nt the right way to do this. I am using this slideshow set to just loop:

I am open to using other similar slideshows if there is one more suited.
