Simple Accordion Like Animation - Trims String?
Aug 2, 2010
I am a newbie in programming...recently I have developed a very simple (probably too simple!!!) javascript code that trims strings and shows animation....the code should be self explanatory....and i have included comments in the snippet so everyone understands what I did....just save the txt file as .html and double click to see the output in browser...

I created an accordion menu with rollover sub menus. My question is there a way to stop the rollover effect in the sub menus until the accordion animation is finished? When I click on a category link on the accordion the sub menu links flashes until the animation is done.

I'm using the following guide to create a horizontal accordion:[URL].. And it seems to be working great, see the accordion in the footer:[URL].. Only problem is, I can't seem to add any anchor tags inside the <p> elements! The script seems to move them out of the paragraph and add them after it as siblings. I cannot see anything in the code that might do this (but then again, I'm not a JavaScript expert).

I want to accomplish a nice and simple accordion menu using this HTML structure:
Code HTML4Strict:
And I'm using this JQuery code:
Code JavaScript:
This basically works, but when I click a particular menu item to expand it's submenu items, it basically hides all submenus items, even the active ones, but whant I need is the particular clicked submenu items to stay expanded. I guess this can be accomplished by a simple if statement or so.

I'm trying to graph line with a delay between each line drawn - my code is:
var jg = new jsGraphics('Canvas');
jg.setColor('maroon');
jg.drawLine(40,130,80,120);
setTimeout('jg.paint()',10000);
jg.drawLine(80,120,120,110);
setTimeout('jg.paint()',10000);
Unfortunately it draws all the lines at the same time i.e the setTimeout function doesn't like the paint method.

What I want to do is have 5 <div>s displayed in a fixed position on my page. The divs will contain text and pictures. Only one div is displayed at a time, and every 5 seconds, the next div slides over the top of the current div (from right to left) until it is completely obscured. At the conclusion of the fifth, it starts again with number 1.

This is meant to be a very simple animation. Everything seems to be correct, but it doesn't seem to run. Basically it is a system where the image is 50px taller than the box it is being displayed in. When you hover over the image, the image is meant to move up via jquery to show the bottom (previously hidden) 50px and cut off the top 50px.
Here is my Site: [URL]
Here is my HTML:
Code:
<div id="container"><div>
<a class="none" href="<?php the_permalink() ?>"><img src="/themes/smo/portfolio/<?php echo get_post_meta($post->ID, 'portfolio_img',true).".gif"; ?>" alt="" /></a>
</div></div>
Here is the Jquery:
Code:
$(function(){
$("div.container div a").hover(function(){
$("img", this).stop().animate({top:"-51px"},{queue:false,duration:200});
}, function() {
$("img", this).stop().animate({top:"0px"},{queue:false,duration:200});
});
I think its something to do with the container class.

I have three drop down menus that when changed call a simple js
function, passing a value i.e.
<SELECT name="Team" onChange="change('national');">
the function defined at the beginning is
function change(which) {
current = document.premForm.Team.selectedIndex;
document.images.premShirt.src = "assets/shirts/"
+document.premForm.Team[current].value + ".gif";
}
the var 'which' is being passed succesfully, but i can't work out how
to change
document.premForm.Team.selectedIndex;
into
document.whichForm.Team.selectedIndex;
depending on what value the function receives. My 3 forms are called
premForm,nationalForm and worldForm

I have an input box with a 'did you mean' box that pops up under it, and it pulls it's results from another php page, however when a term with a space in it, such as "I am" vs. "Im" is entered, it stops working. This is the code I'm using to pull the results. So I made a added a simple string replace to change each space into '+';
search = $('#search').val().replace(' ','+');
search.keyup(function() {
results.load('results.php?q=' + search);
});
But for some reason it is only changing the first space into a '+'; so for example: "Hello how are you" = "Hello+how are you". But I need it to change to "Hello+how+are+you";

I am working on a site that has an acronym in the content that require a registered trademark symbol. This content is added via a CMS. I am currently having problems with the special character sticking when entered via the CMS textfield (it turns into a ? if the CMS page is edited and resaved), which brings me to my question:I would like to just enter the basic acronym via the CMS, like so: ACRONYM and then use the JQuery .replaceWith feathure to add the registered trademark to the ACRONYM dynamically so it will return: ACRONYM ® in place of all instances of ACRONYM that exist within a container div that has a lot of other content like so.I tried the following example and it worked in my webpage, but when I tried to change the code to replace just a text string instead of the p tag it did not work. I did not see an example of this in the documentation. So is this possible with .replaceWith and how would I fashion the code to look for the ACRONYM only? or is there some other method that is better suited fro what I am trying to do? [code]

I have a button which is animated with a rollover effect, obtained through jQuery of course. I wish to open a lightbox clicking that button and I tried with a simple, self-made lightbox and with FancyBox but in either case the lightbox is displayed without animation.I post the code for my buttons and the lightboxHTML for buttons:
<ul> <li><div id="fader0"> <div class="from"><a class="products" href="#inline"><img src="images/tabproducts.png" alt="Our products" /></a></div> <div class="to"><a class="products" href="#inline"><img src="images/tabproductsHover.png" alt="Our products"

I've been messing with this code to make a fade in animation with setTimout. The only thing is addition isn't working on the fade in. A subtraction on a negative works though. This seems strange to me.
changeit.style.opacity -= -0.01; works but when it's changed to changeit.style.opacity += 0.01; there's no fade in. It's the only thing I change. My intuition says to me it should work with addition, but maybe there's something I'm not understanding.
<html>
changeit.style.opacity -= -0.01; if this is set to changeit.style.opacity += 0.01; it doesn't work. What?
Of course this is all just for Firefox for now. If I put this in something useful I'll change it so it'll work in other browsers later.

I have a simple example below showing how when I pass in the value of the value attribute of option node, and then use if operator to check whether parameter is a string or not, even though it's a string, it converts it to false boolean and triggers the else statement rather than calling a function.callback should be a string so why is it saying otherwise?

I have made a basic form, and I need to combine three values within my form, then create an md5 hash of this string.Then assign it to a hidden variable.My form is here...
Code:
<p>
<label for="firstname">First Name: </label>
<input id="firstname" type="text" name="firstname" /><br />[code]....
Or I have created a pastebin of it here, for easy reading: http://pastie.org/1171757.So I need to be able to combine the three values into a string, create a md5 of the string, then call the value of the string into a hidden value all before posting the form.

I'm trying to accomplish an accordion-like function, but instead of dropping down the section below, the content just lays over the other options.
For example, take a look at the Accordion example here: [url]
Notice how when section 2 is clicked, section 1 rolls up. I'm trying to achieve something where with section 1 open, the user would need to click on section 1 to close it and then could select section 2 which would overlay its content below, rather than pushing section 3 down.
Is there an option on accordion that I'm missing or can this be accomplished using another widget or plugin?
