View 3 RepliesI'm new to this forum and JS. I simply want to be able to use the Google Maps API v3 to allow a location value entered in my app (by the user) to show that location via Google maps.The code below accomplishes this via an onClick event. How to accomplish the same WITHOUT an onClick? To be clear, it appears I need to be able to perform the geocode lookup to get the long/lat coordinates and then apply them. That all needs to occur on page load.
<html>
<head>
<meta name="viewport" content="initial-scale=1.0, user-scalable=no" />
[code]....
i have 25 components which includes [textarea, textfile, radio, combo, etc...] and i have written a key event where i say that function, when "ENTER" is entered, i call a function which will submit the page. now my page is getting submitted when i press enter even in the textarea which should not be. so is there any that i can leave not to submit the page if its textarea. this happens only in IE7, 8. all the other browser its working.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIf I have a submit button like
<input type="submit" value="submit" onClick="Check()">
how do I keep it from loading the action part of the form when clicked if Check() returns false.... Say check is:
function Check()
{
var flag = true;
if(document.someForm.someInput.value == Ƈ')
{
flag = false;
//Therefore I don't want the page to go to another page..
}}
Can I somehow stop the submit buttons operation if a certain condition has not been met.
I have a single webpage that contains information on all 50 U.S. states. There are 50 links at the top to jump down to the state you want, and at the bottom of the information for each state a Back to Top link.
I'm making the Back to Top link into something more complex, and it will require three or four lines of code.
So that I don't have to repeat the code 50 times, and create a burden when I need to edit it, I want to place it in a .js file and call it x. Then below the information for each state I'll simply have:
Does calling code from a .js file 50 times slow down the page load? Which method would load faster?
I have some javascript code that does some GET and POST requests that are required. Sometimes it doesn't fully execute for the user because they close or click onto another page before the javascript is completely done. Is there anyway I can let all of the javascript load first and slow down the actual page load of the website.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an webbpage, and in the middle of it there is an iframe to a php site. So i have used this code, so after some seconds the iframe will send the guest to another page. <meta http-equiv="refresh" traget="_top" content="5 url=http://mypage.com"/> But the thing is that i want the WHOLE page to reload, and go to that page after 5 seconds (we can say). With that code, only the iframe are going to another page. Is it possible to make the whole page send the user after some seconds, to another page and not only the iframe?
View 1 Replies View RelatedBasically, I have a link that should open the targeted link in a blank page, and upon the link being clicked, the original page's URL should be changed. The reason for this is that the user has to browse information on another website, and then pass the information on to me via a contact form, so rather than make them click back on my tab in the browser, and then find the "Contact" page link to fill in the form, I thought it would a good feature to simply go ahead and load the "Contact" page upon them clicking the link to the external page (which of course loads in a new tab). Here is the code I have in place:
Code JavaScript:
<a href="http://www.othersite.com/" target="_blank" onclick="window.location.href='http://www.mysite.com/contactus.php';">Other Site</a>
This all works fine on my computer, regardless of the browser that I use. One of my partners on this project called me this morning and said that the link was taking him directly to the "Contact" page without opening the "Other Site." This is strange because after I put this in place, I showed it to him and it worked fine. Now, a few days later, and it does not work. He said that he cleared his browser cache, history, cookies, etc. and the problem did not go away. He uses IE8. After he told me it was no longer working, I went to test it myself, and it works fine for me no matter which browser I use (IE8 or 9, Firefox 3 or 4 Beta).
why this might have worked one day and not the next? Is it simply a problem on his computer, or could it be an issue where based on what type of browser you are using, this won't work. Also, I know this is the JavaScript forum, but is there a way to do this in PHP without using the JavaScript onclick event? Obviously, I can't use the header() function since this functionality needs to be present on a link within text of a page.
How can I set a busy cursor for my whole page rather than just for a link?
My page calls another page with form arguments that does some processing
then changes the values on the calling page. It takes about 4 seconds so I
would like there to be some indication that processing is going on. Thanks!
I want to put a little search on a single standalone webpage of names and numbers.
I'm using the code below - works a treat but when you first visit the page, you have to click in the search box before typing a string, How can I make it so that the input box is actively awaiting input upon the page being displayed?
Also as a second question.. can i make it so whenever 'enter' is pressed on the keyboard, the search button is effectively actioned/clicked so it highlights the next matching string?code...
Is there any way that I can get the first text input field to be active and READY for input.I am trying to save the user the trouble of clicking on the text input field before the user can type any information there. It is one extra step especially when using a touch screen that I would like to avoid.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs it faster/more beneficial to have two snippets of code be generated by php at 2 different urls and then have a load function for each url? Or have the two snippets on one page, surrounded by id's and then load them that way?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm calling $.blockUI() whenever a anchor tag with a "link" class is clicked:
$("a.link").die("click").live("click", function()
{
$.blockUI();
});
The anchor click loads a new page, however, the unblocking of UI doesn't completely work. The overlay is removed, however, the cursor is not changing back to "normal". This is happening in Firefox 3.6.16. So, the end-user perceives the page as still processing because the cursor is "spinning". Moving the mouse will change the "wait" cursor back to the "normal" cursor.
How do I retrive the actual location of a page, I want to do s script that
will open a window prefixing the document path to a local folder.
need some javascript that when a page is refreshed, the page will appear in the browser in a certain location down the page. Trouble is a php text link is being clicked on which causes the page refresh. Anyone know a way to show a page location after a page refresh with javascript?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue with the status bar in Mozilla and Netscape showing that
it is still waiting on the page to load even after it is finished. This
problem does NOT occur with IE.
In summary, I am using a onLoad event in the BODY tag to communicate back to
another server each time a page finishes loading. I do this by using a "new
Image()" and setting the .src property to the server. The .src includes a
value in the querystring so I know what request it was that finished
loading.
The challenge here is that the status bar still shows "Transferring data
from www.mysite.com..." despite the image being loaded. It never clears and
leaves the user with the impression that there was a problem loading the
page. My web server logs at the mysite.com show that the browser does
indeed make a request for the image and I get the querystring just fine and
it returns a status of 200 so the image is being found and served ok.
I've tried everything I can think of to solve this and really could use your
help please. Bottom line is that if you use the "new Image" statment from
within the OnLoad event of the Body tag, Netscape and Mozilla never seem to
update the status bar to show "Done" despite it succesfully loading the
image.
Here is a simply snippet you can use to easily reproduce this issue:
i want to load web page on div [URL]
Code:
$('#news_modal_container').load(getContents_link);
getContents_link contain site name.
above code work while load local page, but not load server page or site
how do i scroll page when i get to a location ...
something like :
<body onLoad="sl()">
<script languge="javascript">
function sl(){
if (document.stopper.y>50)
{
window.scroll(0,100);
}
</script>
then always when the user try to scroll to (0,100) its will be scroll
him to (0,50) or something like
I have been a happy lurker for some time now, soaking in the abundant knowledge that i have found here. But now I am at my wits end trying to find the solution to what is probably a novice’s oversight.I have a menu that animated with jquery. One of the link I have added js call a function that asks for a quick password then opens new page. Some reason it only seems to refresh the page. Here's the code involved.the js
function password(){
var password;
var pass1="cool";
[code]....
I need some help with a function. Here is what I want it to do: When the page location equals a link on the page, then add a CSS class to that link.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a site with dynamic pages, where content is fetched via
a hidden iframe client/server. I'd like to be able to allow
people to bookmark the 'state' of the page, by generating a
URL depending on current content. That URL would ideally be
visible on the location field of the browser, and bookmarkable.
Any idears?
every time i try something it doesn't work for me :( god why is this javascript so hard to make it work... anyway, i just followed the guidelines to pass values from one page to another using ? and it simply, like always, DOES NOT work .

I am trying to make a floating "drag-able" navigation box that will seem not to reload between pages. I hope this make sense
The navigation is in a floating box that can be dragged as well as collapsed. And when you go from page to page the box will remain in the same location and in the same state (open or collapsed) ultimately creating the illusion that the nav box doesn't reload. Can this be done with JS? If so is the way to maintain the location with cookies or is there another way?
A script that will take an image and have it rise up out of any location on the page. Example would be a monster rising up from some bushes on the page. I would also like it to have a time delay as well.
