our requirement is client wants to know howmany users leaving the main page without entering
data in the application page.at that time we need to show the css popup overlay.in the following scenarios overlay should pop up.1)when user leaves the page.(e.g. type other address in the address bar).bascially user shy away from the browser.2)clicks browser close button.we will show one css popup overlay(not browser popup) and in the back ground main application will be greyed out.this overlay consists of some text fields and some buttons will be there and parallely in the back ground we will execute AJAX call.can we accomplish this requirement??is yes how?will it work in all browsers?my concern is how to prevent the browser from closing when css overlay comes up?

There is a website based game I would like to build, but I am not sure that the main functionality would be possible to program. I have tried to do as much research as possible. I know that javascript can do drag and drop, but would it be possible for the user to specify which images (out of a catalogue of thousands) they would like to be present on screen/toplay with?
It would need to work like this: The user is presented with a catalgoue of images. They can refine this catalogue according to things like colour, type etc. The user chooses which images they would like to play with by adding them to their personal choices (e.g. with an 'add this item' button). In the next step the user is taken to a page showing all the items added to their personal list, which they can then drag and drop around the screen. The user can then save/share their 'creation'.
I'm working on a webpage which is completely self-sufficient. This means if you copied the source you would be able to load it locally without any glitches from your computer. I want to embed a "Save As" feature into this document using only javascript or jquery. For various reasons I do not have access to a server-side language to perform this action. I've done some research but can't seem to find a definitive way to do this.
My goal:
User clicks "Save As HTML" button which triggers jquery to copy the source of the page and present it to the user as a mypage.html download. My fall back approach will be to open a new tab with just the desired html and instruct the user to manually "File -> Save As". However, this is very undesirable and I would like to find a solution to fulfill the goal above.
Is it possible to 'deactivate'/nullify a top-level link in an unordered list if child links exist in that list?
For example, I have the following:
And I want to knock out Link 4 because it has sub-items. Is that possible?
In my .js file i am having one variable image2.
Here as there is no link specified it will open a blank page. guys can u please tell me how can i write a condition so that if my href is blank then it will not open any page. the click should not work or else it should load the same page.
is it possible to track whether user is typing in the browser's address bar or aside google search box ( which appears in most of the browsers besides address bar)? if yes, I would like to know HOW? references are welcome.

Correspondingly when the user uses the nav bar to move around the page the desired event always fires. However, if the user uses the address bar to navigate nothing happens, e.g. if someone is viewing "www.mysite.com/#panel1" and then types into the address barthey are moved to the corresponding section of the site, but no event fires. Is there any way to achieve this?

Is there a script that will allow me to do that?
I am working on a online video portal build on flash/actionScript.
If I enter a url of a video when another video is playing, it doesn't playing the new video but it keeps on playing the old video. The reason I think is as it is a RIA, it doesn't refreshes the page and looks for a flash object and its already cached so it doesn't makes any http request in order to play the new video.
So I am planning to claer the cache.
how to clear the cache when a user enters something in address bar and press enter key?
I have one site that has a bunch of cool easy javascript tricks that allow the user to change the page designs and other things. I had put a lot of time, effort, and $$$ into this site, and it was where I make partial income to provide for my family. Lately, I have noticed that some browsers (Chrome) will not allow the user to paste my javascript codes into their address bar.
Example: if user pastes "javascript: alert(2+2);" into their address bar in Chrome (and some IE I have heard from visitors) it will do a google search on alert(2+2) and will completely strip the "javascript" part out.
I want to create a javascript function that will change the url of an image link. This is what I tried (which I'm sure is totally wrong):
document.images['myimagename']. = '" + address + "'";
where address is a parameter passed into my function and myimagename is the name of my image.
My company has 2 email apps. One for external (MS Outlook) and one for internal (GroupWise). On my Intranet, I need to connect the mailto tags to the internal system. Does anyone know how to do this? I can't make GroupWise everyone's default email program because many people use both frequently. I would greatly appreciate any help or direction.

How can I make an image instead of the text as a link to start thisscript?
I have a main menu at the top of each page of my site and on one single page a Coda Slider. To reach each different slide you need just #1. #2 etc from within the Coda page, but to get to it from a different location you need www.sitename/pagename/#1
Now I cant have both versions in the menu. So is there a way to add some script, just to the single Coda Slider page and get it find each of the links (I can add a class to them) and remove the link up to the # tag, so the link would then just be #1 and would correctly use the Coda slider panels.
Is there a way I can read my address bar and write the link to a file. I think it is great that websites post the code I need but the cut and paste thing gets to be a drag. If I am using my browser I am not editing my site. I need a way to save from the http and com. are maybe the part between the two dots.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI found this forum while running out of ideas and being extremely desperate to fixing a probably small javascript error in a script. the script is supposed to open a small form window that allows the user to input an email address and update it to proceed. the form item is initially unchecked, but as the user clicks it and enter his email address, it updates the value of the email address and the box becomes "checkable". the problem is that with both IE and firefox, the box doesn't close again, doesn't get checkable and basically doesn't work. in the firefox debugging console, I found the following error:

The part responsible in the javascript for this section is:

I'm working on a search engine that is just like google but customized for me and my friends. I have everything working well from the scripts supplied by google however they don't allow image searches. In order to combat this I added a link that links to google images. Is there a way to make the link go to google images and display my search keyword without having to retype it? The site is [URL] if you need to look at it.

That works perfectly, I am now trying to display a countdown timer from 40 seconds down to 0, and on 0 redirect the user. Saying something like "You will be redirected in XX seconds". Is there anyway of doing this? I've been searching google for the answers with no luck and can only seem to find timers that countdown to a set date.
