I have a project that I need to read some data from an XML file.
Something like:
However, since JS is a client side script so it can't read from client side, is there any alternate way to do this? I am thinking to create a "Data" class, and many "Data" objects, is this an elegant way to do it?
I wants to access server web page which data is continuously growing(streaming data), I want to buffered some of that data write it in responseText then again get next buffered data write it and so on (in AJAX).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using a java-script in a HTML-page. Part of the script is the line:
var limit = 1136 - 1101;
The value 1136 is a counter and changes permanantly. In VB I can write a
routine which prints the actual value to a fule called COUNTER.TXT.
Can I change my JavaScript in such a way that it reads the value of the file
COUNTER.TXT?
Is there any function in javascript like getenv in php.I want to read an environmental variable.How it can be done in javascript..

I am going to use the server push
for streaming the data by keeping the connection open. At client side,
i am having the XMhttprequest object (i.e ActiveX object of IE). When
the data comes, onreadystatechange method get callback on state 3 but
it doesn't allow me to read the data from the object. It says 'The data
necessary to complete this operation is not yet available'. Is it
possible to read the streaming data from the XMLHttprequest object in
IE?
I know Mozilla supports to read the data, when the ready state is 3. In
Internet Explorer, how we can use the XMLhttp Active object to read the
streaming data.
I am working on a simple tool for my office.We have a very huge database with 5000 tables. All the tables, Columns and their attributes are stored in to excel sheet.
Tool I am designing is for mapping between front end and back end values. Now I will use an image (front end screen of our application) , when user clicks it, I need the HTML to access the excel sheet and display the back end field,the name of tables it can be found in and other data related to that field
Simply,I want to pull data from excel and display them differently for each different click. I want to pass the parameter on click and filter a column in excel with it and display the entire set of sheet with this criteria. Is this possible? or am I expecting too much

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there was a way to dynamically read a field input and respond to it later in the form. My situation is this: I have a question that asks how many workers are employed at a business. Later in the form, the user is asked to add as many workers as they have (section with information on each worker) ..Is there a way I can have something echoed or document.write above the latter section saying "Please add (Number of workers listed above) sections for each worker employed"

I have a javascript that has a string variable and is hardcoded example: var text = "A,1,2,3";However, i want to read this string from a text file from the server. (The text file is generated using PHP). How to i get this done?I have seen codes on other pages which deal with this topic. Below is an example of the code
var txtFile = new XMLHttpRequest();
txtFile.open("GET", "http://my.remote.url/myremotefile.txt", true);
txtFile.onreadystatechange = function() {

i have a form with a 'name', 'date', 'type', 'style', 'color' and 'result' field.let's say the user inputs "jones" in the name field, "8/1/2011" in the date field, "new" in the type field, and 'modern' in the style field.i want the 'result' field to take a look at the 'name' field, and if the 'name' field has a particular text, let's say (in this case) "jones", the javascript code will then place the contents of 'date', 'type' and 'style' fields, along with hardwired text like "the information you are looking for is 'date', 'type' and 'style'" into the 'result' field.

I'm trying to pass a var via object to .load() ... .load(URL, {"myname":var}, function) { ... This will not work unless the var is in quotes and therefore not a variable anymore. I want to be able to use a form to feed data to the program that loads the data.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a page that will pull data out of an input text box to a variable. I am then trying to take that data and punch it into a function, to eventually spit out the answer back on the web page. It has to do with telling the user to enter how many hours worked and their pay rate. I have included the code below. The problem I seem to be having is that I want to click a button to pull the data, then output the result in another script below the input boxes. I may have over done it with the functions, but what can I say..I'm lost! When I try to run it, I have the document.write cmd in there that is supposed to output the variable grossPay. Instead, it shows all the code instead of the value.
If I have something else wrong, or if I am making poor choices let me know. For some background, so far I am in the beginning stages of functions, if..else statements, so I am not trying to get crazy with this. Just something simple.

I am developing a jQuery application and I need to get a parameter from one getJSON request, then use it in another.
Here's a code example that of course is not working:
var ipAddr;
jQuery(function() {
// request IP address
$.getJSON("http://jsonip.appspot.com?callback=?", function(data) {
[Code].....
I know that getting IP address is very easy using PHP or other server side scripting language but I am bound on using HTML and jQuery only.
I want to be able to send data store in JavaScript variable to my email account.
I have tried using mailto: command and for some reason it doesn't work.
I want to be able to open a window with a variable. For example, I will use domain.com?reference=1234- This link will open a pop up window as follows:
<a href="javascript:popUp('http://www.domain.co.uk/staff/tpr/update_action_log.php?action_reference=<?php echo $row2['action_reference']; ?>')" title="Click Here edit this entry"><?php echo $row2['action_reference']; ?></a>
When I open this window, it is always showing data put in last, it isnt refreshed. I wanted to open this pop up window, enter data and then click submit and make the data enter the database and then refresh the parent window. Every time I have done this, either the parent or the pop (or both) is showing old data.
So I'm currently working on a ASP.NET Webforms site and I've run in to a small problem. On my .cs file I have the following Webmethod
[WebMethod]
public static string IsJobEditable(int jobid){
try{
string isEditable = "false";
JobsBLL jbl = new JobsBLL();
int jobStatusId = jbl.GetJobStatusId(jobid);
//If the jobs is either waiting or being edited it is
okay to edit it
if(jobStatusId ==
Convert.ToInt32(ConstantsUtil.JobStatus.Waiting) || jobStatusId ==
Convert.ToInt32(ConstantsUtil.JobStatus.Edit)){
isEditable = "true";
}return isEditable;
}catch (Exception ex){
throw ex;
}}
This function in this case will ALWAYS return TRUE as a string. On Aspx page I have the following
$(function () {
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "Coordination.aspx/IsJobEditable",
data: "{jobid:" + jobid + "}",
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
dataType: "text",
success: function (result) {
alert(result);
//This is written out in the alert {"d":"true"}
I want this in a variable as a string so I can do a check on it before I do some other actions. The format is not a String so I cannot split on it to retrieve the "true" part.
},
error: function (err, result) { alert(err); }
});});
As you can see in the comments the value I get back in the Callback method is in to me a weird format. The type is unknown and I need this value to be able to proceed with my entire method surrounding the small portion of the Javascript. Where to access the result variable / data as a var or anything else that will let me put it into a var (as a string).
