I want to randomly select one item from all those that are checked in a list of checkboxes. The checkboxes all have the same name, "members". I think my problem is creating the new array of names - only those that are checked - from which to randomly select the single item. Based on the below, if I select the top and bottom items, I get something like: Joe,,,,,,,,,Bob as my array output for checkednames code...

I want to display varying company information from a javascript array randomly each time the page is refreshed. My problem is that the each piece of company information must be split up into 3-4 array elements since I have set up spans in the body where the information go accordingly and as such I don't how to randomize that.So essentially the process is:
1. The person clicks on the company name.
2. Relevant information from the array is shown in the div.
But what I want is that on startup, information about a random company is shown automatically. How can I achieve this?

As i have many different affiliates i want the page to randomly select one of these affiliates' adverts to show in the places that i have designated. Each affiliate has given me some code to drop in to my html page. I was wondering if there was some javascript that would select randomly one of these bits of code and display it on the page load, in effect removing the need for me to continually have to manually update and change the code so that it shows a rotation of these adverts.I imagine that it would be some sort of script that reads from an array (this array has each different advert code in it).

I'm trying to grab values from a set of arrays based on the value returned by my select box.
**Caveat - this is not an area I have any real experience with**
My arrays look like:

I then need to test for each, then associate with one of my fees arrays, then grab each of the values in the array and write those values to elements within my page.
I'm then doing this to evaluate for each degree

I need to first figure out how best to import all of these 60+ arrays and then in each of my conditions pull out each value and write to my page.
There is a unique 1 to 1 relationship between each degree and array so I can't consolidate as the values for each degree differ slightly.
i am trying to pass text from one select box to another select box. The logic is if 10 are added, no more passing must happen. Also if an item is already added, it mustn't be added again.I am using the for loop to check the existence of an item but it is not working: what am i doing wrong?

why isn't counter incrementing at all? The alert message box does appear saying item exists but the item gets added anyway.

Im trying to have a click event that replaces an image on the page with a new image that has been selected randomly from an array. I have solved PART of this already (can get the random image to appear).
However, instead of appearing on the page where the old image was, the new image appears in a blank page.
My research indicates that thisblank page location-problem is a result of using document.write in the Function. Therefore, I know I need to find a different way to accomplish this, but am failing miserably.
I have been trying for hours and hours and HOURS to figure out proper syntax for accomplishing this via elements, functions, variables and mootools.

What's the best (i.e. fastest) way to find out if an array contains a given
value? Other than looping, the only way I know to do it is to use an
associative array/hash instead....

but my dilemma is I have to assign an "id" to the elements in the the array so i can use the function getElementById() to call the information. I do not have a clue how to do this.

Is it possible to target certain <li> in an unordered list by index with jQuery? I thought maybe I could use .index but was not able to get the syntax right. I thought maybe something like this would work but is has not:
