Get JS Pushed To User From Server?

Oct 17, 2011

So, I need a way to push JavaScript commands from the server over to the user. The way this currently works is by using iframes/php. I have an iframe with it's src set to "loader.html". Then I have a "control panel" with multiple links to php files. Every php file here writes JavaScript code to loader.html, so for example alert.php writes <script>alert("hello");</script> to loader.html and the user is alerted.

However, this method is rather rudimentary and I was wondering if there was a more efficient way of doing it.

Add The List Of Answers To Html In .js?

Apr 2, 2010

My code goes through the answer function (below) and it determines if you answered green. If you answered green a popup says correct other wise incorrect. How can I modify my code so that I can add multiple answers for different questions.Example q1.html what color is the grass? q2.htm what color is the sky? now in my javascript every question is going to go through the answer function and think the answer is green. that would be correct for q1.html but what if i am on q20.html and it goes through the answer function. It will think the answer is green. So how can i change the code so q1.html knows that the answer is green. q2.html knows the answer is blue?

JQuery :: Text Animation In IE7 Without Element Getting Pushed Down

Apr 21, 2009

I've got a little jquery bit to add some behavior to linked mp3s. You see this here: [URL]. Basically, jquery adds a speak icon and a player when the link is clicked, and the link title flies off and fades to the right:
[code] jQuery('a[href$=mp3]:not(.amplink)')
.wrap('<div class="mp3_span">' + '</div>')
.addClass("mp3_title")
.attr("title", "Click to Play")
.before('<img src="' + anarchy_url + '/images/114.png"
title="Click to listen" class="speaker" style="margin:' + mp3imgmargin + '"/>')
.each(function awesome() { .....

This works more or less how it would like it in all browsers except ie7. There the block that is created for the expanding text pushes everything down, even though the link are given a position:absolute declaration.

The pertinent css:
[code]
div.mp3_span {margin-left:90px; width:600px; position:relative;
display: inline !important; height:1.5em !important;}
a.mp3_title {font: oblique small-caps normal 1em/1.5em Arial, sans-
serif; display: inline !important; position: absolute !important;
cursor: pointer; width:500px; outline: none;}a.mp3_title:hover
{cursor: pointer; outline: none;}
a.mp3_title:active {outline: none;-moz-outline-style: none;}
img.speaker {border:none !important ;cursor:pointer; position:static !
important; vertical-align:top; }[/code]

I can't seem to do no matter what css I apply, and, of course, I' rather not hack the jquery script. So again - how can I keep the text animation without having the following elements getting pushed down?

Creating Dynamic Selectboxes When Button Pushed

Feb 14, 2009

I'm trying to do the following thing. Create a dynamic selectboxA0 when a button is pushed. Then, when a value is selected in this selectboxA0, there will be dynamically generated another selectboxB0 with content which is different for each option of the first selectboxA0. When the button is pressed another time SelectboxA1 is generated (which will in his turn generate SelecboxB1).

The code I use is the following:
function addProduct(){
var url = "includes/php/catalog/loadcategories.php";
$.post(url,
function(data){
$('<tr id="catalogid'+invoiceProducts+'"><td>Product-categorie</td><td><select name="category'+invoiceProducts+'" id ="category'+invoiceProducts+'">'+data+'</select></td></tr>').appendTo('#invoiceTable');
$("#category"+invoiceProducts).change(
function(){
var currentCatalogField = $("#category"+invoiceProducts).attr("name");
if($('#product'+invoiceProducts).length > 0){
var currentProduct = $('#product'+invoiceProducts);
var category = $('#category'+invoiceProducts).val();
var selectbox = true;
productSelect(category, selectbox);
}else{
var category = $('#category'+invoiceProducts).val();
var selectbox = false;
productSelect(category, selectbox);
}});}, "html");
invoiceProducts++;
}

The problem I have is that everything revolves around a counter (var invoiceProducts). Therefor when I select a value in SelectboxA0, the value of SelectboxB1 will change (instead of B0). Any way to solve this thing, by for example making the object pass itself when it calls the onchange function so I can get the number out of the name/id attribute or something. A

JQuery :: Lightbox Overlay Pushed To Bottom Of Page?

If anyone has some ideas on how to fix this I would like to hear them.

Make <DIV Invisible When A Form Reset Button Is Pushed

Aug 30, 2004

I have a page where I use <DIV> to control the visibility a text input area. The text input is made visible only if the Other radio button is selected. That all works fine.

The problem I'm having is when I press the forms Reset )<input type=reset>) button, the visibility of the text area is not restored to the state it was at when the page first loaded so I end up with the text area being displayed even though the Other radio button in no longer selected (reset did clear it).

I thought I could solve this by using a <FORM onReset="forcehide()"> event handler but I can't figure out how to get the object id of the div. The div is defined as follows: Code:

Runtime Error Questions

Jul 20, 2005

I am using this browser that came with an sbcglobal account and when
I click on the built in "shopping" button (and others), sometimes i get
a jscript runtime error. It happens often but not always. It is very
annoying. When I launch the debugger I don't know what i am looking at.

My question is. Is there anything I can do to stop this from popping
up? Or is this caused by the source from the site?

Is Javascript build in to the browser or is there someway i could update
it. Would that help?

Would using a different browser help? I think this is sbcglobals own
browser but it might be based on IE.

Can I Randomize Images From Database?

Sep 22, 2006

I found this javascript to randomize an image on a page...

Code:

<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
<!--
function random_img(){
var ranimage = new Array();
ranimage[1] = "photo1.jpg";
ranimage[2] = "photo2.jpg";
ranimage[3] = "photo3.jpg";

var ry = Math.floor(Math.random()*ranimage.length)
if (ry==0)
ry=1
document.write('<img src="'+ranimage[ry]+'" border=1>');
}
random_img();
// -->
</script>

I have some images that are dynamically generated and i want these images to randomize every few seconds (at the moment the images change when the user goes to a different page on the site)...can anyone give me any ideas as to whether this is possible??

The PHP code i'm using is below...

<?php

// read image dir
$dir="../../admin/uploads/";
// Open directory, and proceed to read its contents
if (is_dir($dir)) {
if ($dh = opendir($dir)) {
while (($file = readdir($dh)) !== false) {
if (filetype($dir . $file)== "file"){

$counter++;

$selectSQL = "SELECT id, url, imagefile from images";
$result=mysql_query($selectSQL);
#print $result . " - " . mysql_error();

$nameStack=array();
$urlStack=array();

while ($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result)){
$thisurl= $row['url'];
$thisid= $row['id'];

array_push($nameStack, $row['imagefile']);
array_push($urlStack, $row['url']);

}

}
}
closedir($dh);
}
}

// load each image into array echo rand(5, 15);
// get count of total no. of images
$lastNo=sizeof($urlStack)-1;
$imageToUse=rand(0,$lastNo);
#print "using image $imageToUse of $lastNo";
$imageName=$nameStack[$imageToUse];
$imageUrl=$urlStack[$imageToUse];

#print "got $imageUrl and $imageName

//

?>

Using Script To Randomize Sites?

Jun 5, 2010

Here is what I want to do. Create four or five different versions of my site and when someone goes to it a randomly chosen version is displayed. The way I was thinking of doing this is to have the index page of each version in a frame, the containing would run a javascript that choose one of the versions of the site. I figure the container would not display anything and just be a tiny portion of the screen with no visible frame.

That said, I don't know anything about javascript. I just assume this is what I would use to do something like this. Does anyone have a better ideas as to what I would use for this or ideas on how I would go about doing it?

JQuery :: Randomize A Content Slider

I'm using a very nice jQuery content slider called Easy Slider on my site that I downloaded from Css Globe. The script is excellent and does just what I want - except I can't make it randomise the list, it always scrolls from left to right or right to left! I'm far from good with JavaScript, so my attempts at solving this have been feeble. Although I'm sure it must be an easy fix! I've tried contacting the original plugin developer but have had no response yet. The comments on the Easy Slider page didn't bear much fruit either unfortunately. I've pasted the script I'm using on my site below:

Making Simple Quiz Using HTML / Showing Answers By Clicking Button

I'm working on a simple website in which I'm required to use two types of forms input on a webpage. I have decided to make a simple quiz which will be designed.Is this possible in a simple way? Sounds quite straight-forward.Is it possible to design a radio button which, depending on the choice, the related-text will appear underneath on the same page? Two JS Questions In One: Giving Focus, And Clearing Form (read Inside)

Okay, how do I write a page with a form so that when I click Submit,
the following happens?

1. The data is submitted (of course)
2. The form is cleared (what I've tried results in the form being
cleared first, resulting in an empty submission), and
3. The cursor goes back to the start of the form, ready for more input
(kind of like how Google puts the cursor in the search box at the
