Process Of Handling Multiple Mouse Events

Jan 8, 2010

If you've caught a mouse event (say, onmousemove) and you're currently in the process of handling that event, is it possible for that, or another, mouse event handler to get hit again, at the same time that you're handling the previous event? Or is it guaranteed that no additional events will actually call any of your event handlers until your code returns from handling the prior event? That is, is it strictly sequential processing, or can they occur simultaneously?

JQuery :: 1.4.2 Events Handling And IE6?

Aug 2, 2010

Geeting a JS error from IE 6 only in this method: handle: function( event ) { var all, handlers, namespaces, namespace, events;

[Code]...

On the last line of the code snippet above. It appears to me that IE6 doesn't like the fact that the events object is undefined. To trigger this error we are doing a simple blur binding to an input box. ex:

$(field).bind('blur', function(){onfocusout(this);}); It appears IE 6 stops executing JS after the error (imagine that). Is this an issue in jQuery core or BTW I know MS has dropped IE 6 support but we still have customers.

Opera Bug - Not Handling Key Events Correctly

Oct 12, 2005

I have found what seems to be a bug. When you have a keydown, keypress and keyup event handler on a text box in Opera, it won't call the keyup handler when you hit the down arrow key. Every other key, including up arrow, seems to work fine.

To make sure it wasn't just me, I tried this in Opera with one of Mike's demos:

http://cross-browser.com/x/examples/key_events.php

If you use the arrow keys while any object other than a textbox has focus, keydown, keypress and keyup show 40 and 38 for down and up arrow, respectively. However, if you focus on one of the textboxes, 40 only shows up for keydown and keypress, not keyup. 38, however, continues to show up for all events.

Handling External Object Events

Jun 17, 2005

I have a script for a radio player that I'm working on using Windows Media Player. Before I was using the safe WMP 6.4 object model but because of feature requests I've had to include support for more recent WMPs.

I have a javascript class that wraps the versions and depending on which version is being used it calls different methods. I was wondering if there was a way to assign the events of WMP to functions in javascript, but without using <script for=WMP event=blah> type tags. Code:

Handling Multiple Forms On A Single JSP

Jul 20, 2005

I have a JSP page with several forms on it. Some of these forms are
generated dynamically, and each of them submits some information to a
database.

Handling one form is easy, as I can simply make the form post to
itself, and handle the
data using a single bean. Since I have multiple forms, I now have a
problem. Several of the forms on the page handle the same type of data
(same input names), and a 'setproperty *' call for each of the form
beans would change data in several beasn, not just the form/bean that
sent the data.

I am attempting to write a separate JSP with a single bean that
handles a form submission. However, I'm not sure how to make this page
go back to the referring page from which the data was submitted.

Ajax :: Handling Multiple Requests?

May 15, 2011

This might seem like a silly question..First issue. If i have a response and i'd like to update both text div and a status div how would i go about doing this. I've seen that jQuery has a few options such as OnSuccess etc?

Say that i post a comment and obviously you'd want to update some kinda statusbar on your website with the info that the message was posted successfully with ajax. (otherwise it might slip by the user unnoticed since ajax is kinda discrete)

Would it be a good way to for instance check the responseText if it contains anything and if it does you simply write a successmessage by grabbing a div from JS and if the responseText contains a custom error code lets say 1 you'll update the statusbar with a deny message?

Second thing. I've currently created an Ajax search on my site which activates whenever the user press or unleash the button. The issue is that if the user types fast enough it comes stuck showing the Loading.gif constantly. Could this be due so many requests opening and that i have a sleep on the server-side and if so how would you do it instead? I am using a serversleep of 1 second to have the Ajax pic appear consistently.

I am trying to populate two select boxes with over hundred option elements for each. I have succeded in doing so but with a little problem. I make two xmlhttp calls one after another. What happens is that if the first call doesn't make it before the second, the data in the first select box fails to load and the second box succesfully loads data. I am new to the Ajax world but i am sure i am not doing it right.

mouseDragged, mouseMoved and mouseWheelMoved.

Also in Java can detected which mouse button (left, middle or right)

2 Events For Mouse Over?

Mar 29, 2002

I would like to make the onMouseOver event for an IMG swap 2 images. I currently have a javascript function for this (I didnt write it) which just inputs which image you want to swap and what with. I want to swap 2 images and not just one.

<IMG SRC="themes/$thename/images/bottomnav_02.gif" WIDTH="82" HEIGHT="23" name="home" border="0" onMouseOut="MM_swapImgRestore()" onMouseOver="MM_swapImage('topics','','themes/$thename/images/bottomnav_02on.gif',1)">

There is the code for the IMG tag, now the part where it does the onMouseOver it changes out the image of my choice. It calls the MM_swapImage. I want to call that function twice with diffrent parameters. I tried adding another onMouseOver line after the first one, but didnt work. Is there a way to do this in HTML? Hope that made sense.

Mouse Events On Div Element In IE 6

Jul 23, 2005

If a div is positioned block or relative, events fire over the entire area
of the div. If the div is positioned absolute they don't--they only fire
over the div's text or image child elements, if any. This isn't true in FF
or Opera, nor was it true in IE 5. If there is any logic in this behavior.

Mouse Events, Classes, Handlers

Feb 17, 2006

This below would be my ideal code.... if it worked.

<html><head><script>

function mouseDownClass(o){

this.o = o;

this.handleMouseUp = function() {
alert(this);

}
//treating this section as the constructor (which sets up the mouseup
listener as the method of an instantiation, ideally)
document.body.addEventListener("mouseup",this.handleMouseUp,false);

}

</script></head><body>

<button id="b1" onmousedown="new mouseDownClass(this,event)">Down
-&gt; Up</button>

</body></html>

alert() is showing 'this' to as: [object HTMLBodyElement] whereas i'm
looking for it to show [object Object], (On Firefox at least),
referring to the object instantiated when the mouse goes down on the
button. I'd appreciate anyone who can help me here?

Enlarge A Thumbnail On Mouse Over Events?

Nov 4, 2009

where they enlarge a thumbnail on mouse over events? I have seen a lot out there, but all seem to want to replace the image with a new larger image of the same kind. What I would prefere for it to do is enlarge or zoom the thumbnail image, so that 2 images are not needed for every image.

I did find somthing which does exactly what I need, but the enlarged image keeps flashing on and off for some reason. This is the code

<script type='text/javascript'>
function get(eid) {
var d = document;

I would imagine it has somthing to do with the pop image function, but not to sure.

How To Lock Key And Mouse Events On One Element?

Oct 30, 2006

I'm trying to figure out a way to make only one element on a page receive key and mouse events. I have a grid in a <div>-container with "overflow:auto" which makes the grid scrollable. If course I can set event handlers to the "document" to catch key strokes and mouse clicks and execute navigation functions which make the grid scroll (e.g. pressing down arrow) etc. This of course effects the whole page and not just the div.

The problem is: as far as I know only window and form elements can receive events such as focus(), blur(), keypress() etc. and I have to make sure only this one element is affected.

Is there thus a way to make these events affect only the <div> container?

The best way to do this would be with an event listener as this would make development much easier.

Has someone done this before?
