Problem With Date Calculation In Form
Jul 20, 2005
I have a form which must calc the difference between 2 date fields and
return the result in a third field. I have the following code but it does
not seem to work. Can anyone tell this total newbie where he is going wrong
or suggest a more elegant way of doing this.
<head><script>
function doit(oForm, usrInp)
{
var one_day = 1000 * 60 * 60 * 24 ;
var userDate = new Date(usrInp)
var dueDate = new Date(usrInp)
diff = dueDate - userDate
oForm.diff.value = (diff/one_day) + ' days'
}
//-->
</script>
</head>
<body>
<form name="a">
<input type="text" name="userDate" >
<input type="text" name="dueDate" onblur='doit(this.form, this.value)'>
<input type="text" name="diff" onfocus=this.blur();>
</form>

I've inherited a Form which calculates a future date based on a calculation and then inserts today's date and the future date into a database. The day part of the date is formatted as a number. This is fine, but up to 9 the numbers display in single figures with no leading zeros. I want them to display leading zeros (e.g. 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11... 30, 31) So;
1/12/2010 is NOT wanted
01/12/2010 IS wanted
The inherited code originally set the Month names as "Jan", "Feb" etc, and it was easy to kludge these to 01, 02... 12, but I suspect there's a more elgant solution to this as well, this bit of the code works so it's not as vital to neaten this but my database needs dd/mm/yyyy format (it's a third party email program).
</script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var todaysDate = new Date();
function updateExpiryDate(){

I am trying to make a script that prints a date in the format Sunday
14th January 2007. Where the date that is displayed is the next sunday
3 weeks from now. For example today is 7th January. The script would
print Sunday 28th January 2007. It would read that all of this week
until next sunday when it would change to Sunday 4th February.

I have a javascript that should convert any date into a number between 1 and 260. Based on the outcome of that calculation, a viewer is directed to a specific web page.How can I verify the calculation? How can I see what number javascript is arriving at so I can backtrack to the error? It is not serving up the correct page.
I have compared the results to a calculator on another website [URL] that uses a different script to calculate the same result -- that's why I am saying the end results are not correct. On the other website, scroll down to where you enter a date. It returns a name just above the date (example: July 25, 1970 returns Electric Star). The script I included above returns Yellow Sun. July 25, 1970 should = 68.
function calculate() {
if(!isValidDate())
return;

I am a novice user of Expressions Web4 and am attempting to build a form that makes calculations of field entries and displays the results in designated fields. Specifically, multiplying the entry in the pmt_amt field by .03 and placing the result in the srv_fee field, then adding the entry in the pmt_amt field to the result in the srv_fee field to show the resulting sum in the total_pmt_amt field. I have created functions in JavaScript for both calculations and tied them to onClick relative to a button btn_srv_fee.
I used this method by searching online for an appropriate method and tweaked results for my application. Below is the code for what I am attempting to do. Upon making an entry in the pmt_amt field and then clicking the button, there are no results in neither the srv_fee field or total_amt_field. Below is the code for the functions and the associated section that identifies the fields.
<script type="text/javascript">
function multiplyNumbers(pmt_amt, .03, ResultField1)
{
[code]....

I have a form which i want to calculate entered values in text boxes. What i want from the below code is ;
1- i may have 100 textboxes so the javascript that i use may be inefficient for larger amounts. Does anyone have more encapsulated solution for multiplying and adding to total amount?
2- when i click check boxes their values must be added to total textbox below.
3- How can i calculate VAT and grand total? with $ sign infront of them ?
its seems easy but couldn't manage to do as i am not a programmer.

I have added a booking form to a website with belongs to fastbooking.You can see a temporary website here. http:[url]....It works perfectly fine in Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera and Safari but it does not load on Internet Explorer.On the other browsers the form loads todays date and the year is generated but on IE the date stays on 01-01 and no year is generated.I'm using wordpress as a cms.I think the code that is not loading is <body onLoad='start();'>But I'm not sure. The code of the year is
<select name='fromyear' class="input" onChange='update_departure();'>
<option value="0"></option>
</select> But since it's no just the year I assume its the onload code.
I tried to add the onload to the header function like this
<body onLoad='start();' <?php if(function_exists('body_class')) body_class(); ?>>
So now wordpress generates the following code when it loads the page
<body onLoad='start();' class="home page page-id-6 page-template page-template-default logged-in">
But sadly the date still does no load on Internet Explorer.

I am attempting to provide the user with an estimated price value given their input in 2 form fields.
One is a dropdown and the other is a radio button set. They will output to a text box
I was able to achieve the desired result using integers as the text box options. However, when i replaced them with strings, the calculations no longer work (obviously )
My problem are:
1. Associating integer values with the word items listed in the dropdown. Example: "standard" should have a value of 100, "deluxe" =200 etc...
2. actually getting the calculation to complete using both dropdown and radio button elements. I'm not sure what logic to use to get it to total out. I essentially want the selected plan flat rate cost ($100 for "standard", $200 for "deluxe")to be added to the additional units cost ($50*number of units selected)
Refer to the reference URL for my intended layout and functionality [url]

I have a start date and end date text boxs. What I would like to achieve is when a submit button is clicked all the available dates between start and end dates should be displayed together with 3 check boxes next to each date (please see below). I am just wondering whether that'sachievablewith jquery, and if so, how I might be able to implement this.

I have made a script where you can add extra fields, and next to the row is a span that automatically displays the outcome from a calculation of three fields in that row. i.e. Q x (B - A) = total. Here is the bit that does the calculation:
function advCalc(selected) {
var result = Number(document.formmain.elements["quantity"+selected].value) * (Number(document.formmain.elements["provideamount"+selected].value) - Number(document.formmain.elements["supplyamount"+selected].value)) ;

I'm currently using the following script to generate today's date in a form. However it generates month and year separately. Our system works by coupling the month and year together (e.g. 03:2010)
Code:

var monthtext=['Jan 2010','Feb 2010','Mar 2010','Apr 2010','May 2010','Jun 2010','Ju 2010l','Aug 2010','Sep 2010','Oct 2010','Nov 2010','Dec 2010'];

What I am looking to do is auto-populate a number of forms based on what a user chooses as a starting date.
For example:
If a user enters 12/12/2009 I want the other fields to automatically populate with the next 2 weeks (12/13/2009, 12/14/2009, 12/15/2009 etc.)
Anyone have a useful script that I can use given that these fields are formatted as dates?
The idea is to save time by only having to fill in the first date in the timesheet.

I've placed a 'Quick availability checker' form on my clients' website which links to an external online booking service. It all works fine, the only thing is that it requires the query to be in this date format: mm/dd/yyyy whereas us Brits prefer it to be dd/mm/yyyy.
Is there any way to change the form so that it will accept this date format and still send the right query to the online booking server? I believe there is a javascript for this but can't find it and have no javascript coding ability myself.

how can I make it so whenever I select a different year or different month it doesn't reset the Day option back to option 1 (the option that's called Day), unless of course you select a day then change the month that doesn't contain that day (like if u choose january 31 and then select february, it obviously must reset).
For example, say you choose january and then the day 20. Now if you select february, I do not want it to reset the day back to "Day"
Instead, I want to make it so it stays on the day 20 since there is a 20th of February. But still, I want it to eliminate the options 29, 30 and 31.
Here is a working example of the drop downs http://ckeanedesign.t35.com/dob2.html
Here is the HTML code I am experimenting with (thanks to felgall)
