I am very inexperienced with javasciprt. I am designing a form in coldfusion, and want some dynamic action to take place. My users will be offered 2 selections via radio buttons. Depending on which radio button they select, they will get a few more radio buttons to choose from. I have been told that this can be handled in javascript. So I am appealing to the javascript programmer nation for some assistance in this endeavor.
I am a PHP programmer and new to Javascript and jQuery and I have tried about 20 examples/tutorials and cannot seem to get even close to what I want.I have a form (PHP/MySQL) with a list of subjects I got from my database, and then create a set of radio buttons from that list. And based on what radio button they select, I need to pass that variable to a div (at least that's what I want to use) and then show a list of videos that match the radio buttons value. I don't care if its a get or post or other.I tried to use GET or POST so I can use that value for my PHP/MySQL lists.I am open to any suggestions/tutorials, etc.
I have set up my website quite some time ago that has served its purpose very well, however I will now be adding an order form functionality. So far, by reading books and traversing forums, I have been able to develop a page where the user 1.Enters data into the required fields, that is then submitted to a MYSQL database via PHP, 2.Can retrieve orders that are stored in the database, 3.Delete orders that are stored in the database.
I have wamp installed on my computer as the webserver. I have also incorporated two drop down lists that both retrieve their values from tables within the database. The first drop down list retrieves the Australian States that I have stored in a table, and once the submit button is pressed, it stores the State that is selected to a separate table. This drop down list functions as it should. An extract from "From Place an order.php"
<?php $dbcnx = @mysql_connect('localhost', 'root', 'tingling'); if (!$dbcnx) { exit('<p>Unable to connect to the ' . 'database server at this time.</p>'); } .....
The second drop down list retrieves product names from a table that contains products and their prices. What I would like to happen, is that when the product is selected from this drop down list, a text box is automatically filled with its corresponding price. I had this drop down list working as per the "States" drop down list, but could not get it to auto populate the text field. I got some assistance from a friend and was able to get the text box to auto populate with its corresponding price, however when the page was submitted to the database, the "id" number of the product name from the drop down list was stored, and not the product name.
<select name="productSelection" onchange = "getProductDetails(this)"> <option selected value="1product">Select Product</option> <?php $products1 = @mysql_query('SELECT * FROM products'); if (!$products1) { exit('<p>Unable to obtain author list from the database.</p>'); .....
I have a form which has a dropdown menu on it. The last option on the menu "other". When "other is clicked, I would like a textarea to become visible, so that the user can enter the new information. Does anyone know how I might do this?
Here is the html for the form:
HTML Code: Union: <select name="union" id="union"> <option value="choose">Choose One</option> <option value="ibew">International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers</option> <option value="ibt">International Brotherhood of Teamsters</option>
If the first radio button is selected, I only want all three buttons to be visible to the user.
If the second radio button is selected, I only want the "Edit Data" and "View Data" buttons to be visible.
If the third radio button is selected, I only want the "View Data" button to be visible.
Is it possible to accomplish this in Javascript? In particular, I want to continue using the "input type=submit" buttons without having to create my own.
I have 3 divs that contain radio with labels and beneath each radio button I would like to show/hide a form based on whether the radio is selected or not.
Code idea:
So if the radio1 input is selected this would show form1. Selecting radio2 input would hide any other forms (form1, form3) and show form 2 etc.
If the user selects the early bird special for member (at 100.00) it populates the text field with the value for that row. Or, if the user selects regular registration for non-member it sets the early bird text field back to 0.00 and populates the text field with he value for the regular expression code. At the same time it populates the total field with the total price. I hope this makes sense. How can I accomplish this using JavaScript or jQuery? The text fields are read only. The table is listed below.
how to populate a dropdown based on Another dropdown selection. This all should be a dynamic. Eg: I have two text boxes one is TechID and other is JOB ID. When I start typing Tech ID it suggests me the list of IDs which start with the input string i have put in Tech textbox. When i select the Tech ID the jobs associated to that Tech ID should be displayed in JOB ID text box as a dropdown list.
I have 3 ASP list boxes. I would like to populate the second list box based on the selection in the first list box and based on the selection in the second list box, populate the third. I would like to do this using AJAX. How can I do it? Can someone please give me the code snippet as I am a complete noob when it comes to AJAX and I kinda am running outta time to finish implementing it. Additionally, should I use ASP boxes or HTML <select> tag?
How do I automatically populate the second dropdown based on the selection made in the first one. Say if I choose a contry in the first dropdown, then I want to display a list of cities from that country in the second dropdown. Is there a way to do this with jQuery?
I am trying to get a css-styled button to stay on its 'roll-over' state once it has been selected by its corresponding radio button (connected via the label tag). So far, I have no idea what I'm doing.
I load a page with two default images and two radio buttons not selected. When either of the radio buttons gets checked I need to swap corresponding image. I tried this but it does not seem to work:
I have a form with a list of subjects (radio buttons) that I get from my database with PHP, and I want to show a list of videos (also from my video table using PHP), based on which subject they choose.
I have tried multiple POST, GET methods with JavaScript examples, but cannot get it to work. I am not having any issues with the PHP getting either list, it is just getting the radio buttons to pass either the POST or GET data to JavaScript, and have it take that value so I can get the list from my database with PHP. I tried to use a div for the list of videos, and didn't have much success.
I want that a <div> element will show when yes is selected and when no it should be hidden. For show and hind i will use the functions from the jQuery UI. But I don't find a way to call the hide / show function when the selection change.
The radio selection: <input type="radio" name="lang_anz" value="1"> Yes<br> <input type="radio" name="lang_anz" value="0" checked="checked"> No<br> When I understand the documentation I can request the current value from the radio with: <script type="javascript"> $('input:radio[name=lang_anz]:checked').val(); </script>But how i can now call the show / hide function when I change the selection?
I have a page I am working and I am having some trouble with: I need to show and hide areas based on a radio selection. I initally started using the show / hide feature in Jquery but the problem is the elements need to be removed but then put back if the user selects the radio buttonagain as it has form elements that have validaion on them. The validation is still trying to validate the form elements becuase they are still on the page but just not showing. This is the radio group the user makes the selection from:
working on a project at the minute but have dug a hole in javascript for myself on this one. The objective was to use cookies to save a form whilst a file was being upload at the same time on the same page.To get the filename for the uploading mp3 file inserted into the user current form which then is posted on submit to a directory where its viewable for download, the page must refresh and a query string is used to put the uploaded files name into the form.What i wanted though was the user to be able to write out there tracklist whilst there file was being uploaded so they can make the most of the time and do 2 things at once.Getting round this was ok using cookies to remember the forms input values and restoring them once the page had refreshed.
The problem is thought the cookie script will only write once to file if the text box that gets updated with a new value being the uploaded file value changes,to get round this i wanted to disable the radio button that saves the form upon change of the default value of the mirror1_url text input as the upload session is complete and the user would not need to recall the cookies values.a working version with the above problem can be found here http://urban-love.co.uk/uploads/userupload.phpim sure its only a few lines of script you can see I have implemented one in the page already see view source but it takes no effect in this form for some reason?
I am sure this is simple, but I am simple when it comes to Javascript - meaning pretty much new. I have a place on my site that has a drop down box, with multiple options listed in them. I want the user to be able to select an option in the dropdown box and then hit the submit button. They would then get taken to the page that is mapped to the user selected value in the field.
