Pop-up Image - In IE8 - Close The Image Window ?
Oct 20, 2011
I have been using an image viewer script (Image Thumbnail Viewer Script-found at [url]) for a few years on my website with great success until IE8. The image script works fine, the problem comes when you close the image window. The page where the thumbnail that opens the image is located immediately scrolls to the top of the page once you close the popup. This does not happen in IE6, IE7 or FF, I have not yet tested it in chrome or safari. I have noticed similar behaviour on some other sites, when clicking a JavaScript link, but not on all sites using a JavaScript link. Again, it only happens in IE8.
This is the part of the script which closes the window that holds the image:
I'm hoping it's one of those "just add this" or "just change this to that" and not re-write the entire script, it's a fairly large script.
Here is an example page: [url]

I'm trying to use javascript to load an image on a webpage when another image is clicked on, just like an image gallery and just like this except I don't need any text: [URL] I copied the example above but when I click on the smaller image to load the larger one it works for a fraction of a second (I can see the image load in the right spot), but then the browser goes to the URL of the image instead (showing it on a blank page).

I'm gonna use the backbox scrip on my site and of course I got it from [URL] but - I would like to close the image not only by clicking outside of box or at the Close-button - but also by clicking the image itself.
The orignal script works really well - except for one small thing - when the backbox displays large images - I can't close them by clicking outside the image on the left and right sides - it only works closing when I click above or under the box.
Anyway; internet gave me this small code:
objLightbox.onclick = function(e) {// close Lightbox is user clicks shadow overlay
if (!e) var e = window.event;
var clickObj = Event.element(e).id;
[Code]....
And I was wondering if you guys know where to put it in the lightbox.jg file for it to work (or if it even will work at all?) - Or maybe I can change the original code for this to happen (Without adding this new code?)
Me then - I have notepad + + and I just recently learned CSS - Java is a tad more complicated when I look at the code :)
Like I need to understand the logic behind it - how it thinks. I just learned how CSS "thinks and acts" a few months ago - but I guess Java isn't anything like that.

Im trying to have a click event that replaces an image on the page with a new image that has been selected randomly from an array. I have solved PART of this already (can get the random image to appear).
However, instead of appearing on the page where the old image was, the new image appears in a blank page.
My research indicates that this blank page location-problem is a result of using document.write in the Function. Therefore, I know I need to find a different way to accomplish this, but am failing miserably.
I have been trying for hours and hours and HOURS to figure out proper syntax for accomplishing this via elements, functions, variables and mootools.
A bit of my research:
-I found this---but havent figured out how to implement it in my scenario:

- I have a button on my Flash site that opens an HTML page in a popup window. In Flash, I open the new window using Actiosnscript 2.0:
- Within the popup window are links to other HTML pages. They all open in the same window. I've been using the following to create the links in Dreamweaver:
- On each page, I have a "Return to Main Menu" button that should close the popup window. To do this, I have been using:
- The problem is that it works differently in each browser, and I can't even get it to consistently close the window in most browsers:
Internet Explorer = popup message appears, asking "Are you sure you want to close this window?" or something similar; window closes after clicking "Yes."
Safari = Only closes if I'm on the original HTML page. If I click on any of the other links (note that these all open in the same window), those pages' "Return to Main Menu" buttons cease to work. However, if I keep clicking "Back" until I get to the original page, it closes.
Opera = Button actually works for each page.
Firefox & Chrome = Does not close the window at all.
I looked into it and saw that others have used a window.opener to solve similar issues. But, since my popup window is opened using Flash/AS2, I need to find a way around it.
I've tried preceding "window.close()" with "window.opener=null" (i.e. -onClick="window.opener=null; window.close()"), but I don't think I'm doing it right because it still doesn't work.
I've also seen others use codes that involve functions and variables, but it is beyond my current coding knowledge to implement this. Like I said, I'm sort of new at this.

I am a systems analyst and network admin for [url].... We already have an exisiting site, which has JS. We now need to add a lightbox effect onload that will basically overlay the page in grey and focus on a banner before you can access it. Thus, pushing everyone who visits to read a banner. I would also like to add an "x" graphic in the top right corner of the projected image to close the banner and return to veiwing our site.

I use an image button to post a form. Let's say the button is on A.php and form target is B.php. when clicked, B.php comes but with extra arguments in the url. As far as I understand they are the coordinates of the point I clicked on the button image.
<input name="image" type="image" class="search_button_big" title="Search" value=" " src="img/dot.png" />
....B.php?image.x=38&image.y=24ℑ=+
When I remove name property additional arguments in the url simplifies as follows:
<input type="image" class="search_button_big" title="Search" value=" " src="img/dot.png" />
...B.php?x=78&y=31
How can I prevent these x and y's?

I need to make a image open a popup window, I know how to do it like this:
function load2() {
var load = window.open('pictures','','scrollbars=no,menubar=no,height=800,width=840,resizable=yes,toolbar=no,lo cation=no,status=no');
}
then on the link just have it go to javascript:load2()
But I have a ton of different links and don't want a bunch of code in the beginning of my pages. Is there a way to make the first part just the dimensions of the new window but then when I actually make the link, I could put where I want it to link to? Like javascript:load2(pictures).

I am opening a site soon that will have a preliminary, invite-only beta system to work out bugs, etc. I need to make a feedback system and I already have most of it figured out, but I need to know how to make a button or image stay at the bottom of the screen.
For example, take a look at klout.com. They have a feedback button on the right side that stays in the same position as you scroll down the page. How can I do this, but keep the button at the bottom of the page?
I don't want to have to add any extra containers, etc. I have my layout entirely designed and I want the button to be easy to add/remove. I'm thinking I would just need to run a script that creates maybe a div that holds the button, and position the div at the height of the window minus the height of the div. But how can I make it stay there as the user scrolls?
