Jquery :: File Tree- How To Parse File Path

Apr 15, 2011

I have set up a script on my page which automatically reads the files in a specific directory on the server and displays them in a nice file tree on my website so users can download the files. Here is the script: http://abeautifulsite.net/blog/2008/...ery-file-tree/Here is the script in action on my website: http://ligonier-in.org/onlineservice...ents_test.htmlThe plugin is working fine as far as finding the files and displaying them. However, the root folder where the files are stored is not the directory you would go to to access the actual files.

Long story short, the script is trying to download the file at
http://ligonier-in.org/home/cityofli...pplication.pdf
I need to 'parse' that url and force it to download the file from:

Parse Text From External File

Oct 9, 2009

I currently have a web applet in straight up Java that allows for a user to interact with a flowchart. I need to convert it to pure Javascript due to technological restrictions on technologies I can use on the school's servers. My original applet parses information from text files that contain information about courses, descriptions, credit hours, etc. I've been googling to see if there is a way to use Javascript to parse these same files for information, but my google-fu is failing me.So my question -- is it possible to, using Javascript, read information out of an external file?

Regular Expression: Parse File Name

Nov 15, 2005

I'm trying to take the value of a file input field, parse it down to the file name and write the contents into a table cell.

It works, but my regEx isn't quite right

Can someone tell me what's wrong with it?

basically I need everything from the end of the string to the last

right now the expression evaluates to true, not the string.

Code:

<script>
function storeIt(){
var filePath = document.getElementById('Browse').value;
var fileRegExp = /*.*$/;
var fileName = fileRegExp.test(filePath);

document.getElementById('fileTitle').innerHTML = fileName;
}
</script>

Read Text File - Parse - Split - Put In Array

Oct 22, 2009

I am very new to javascript and programming and I need a little direction. I have working a javascript that reads the value of radio buttons and writes them to a text file. My code is at [URL]. The text file has the following format:

Name|Email|Location|Comment|5|5|5|3|2|1|4|5|3|2|0
Name2|Email2|Location2|Comment2|1|3|0|3|2|0|2|5|1|2|3

What I need to do is have javascript read the text file (c: estfile.txt) and put each section of information (name, comments, numbers, etc.) into an array. Then, add the number from each columns up. For example, the first number from Name and the first number from Name1 is 5 +1 = 6. This sum is then added to another array that can be printed on the screen. I know this is a lot of information.

Local Area Network (LAN)

Nov 6, 2007

Both an EtherNet (wire) network and a wireless network are referred to
as a Local Area Network (LAN). A wireless network does not require
hubs, switchers, or routers to include additional users on the
network. Additional wireless users are supported just by being in the
immediate physical span of the network.

A wireless LAN (or Wi-Fi network) may be configured in two different
ways:

Ad Hoc mode: Allows only for communication between different personal
computers and wireless devices, often referred to as peer-to-peer
communication.

Infrastructure mode: Required for communication with the World Wide
Web, a printer, or a wired device of any sort. In either case, this
wireless connection requires a wireless network adaptor, often called
a WLAN card. Code:

Adding Network Printer From Intranet

Oct 13, 2011

Looking over other threads on this site I was able to use another members script to build my own for adding a network printer via JavaScript on our Intranet. With that, the script works perfectly fine when testing it on the local machine I built it on, but not on other machines in the office. Currently I'm remoted into the branch office I reside in from the corporate office where I'm currently at so the machines being tested are on different subnets, but the script is simple calling the UNC path for the printer. When tested on any other computer, and the link is clicked on the page, the user is taken back to the folder in windows explorer the HTML file is saved in, rather than executing the add printer portion of the script.

This is my full code as of now, I was trying to get the function correct before formatting the actual website (obviously)
Code:
<html><head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en-gb">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
<title>Printer Mapping</title>
</head>
<script>
function addPrinter25(){
var x=confirm("You are about to add printer GPSACC01. Would you like to make this your default printer?")
if (x==true){
WshNetwork = new ActiveXObject("WScript.Network");
var PrinterPath = "\\gpsprnt02\gpsacc01";
WshNetwork.AddWindowsPrinterConnection(PrinterPath);
WshNetwork.SetDefaultPrinter(PrinterPath);
alert("Printer GPSACC01 has been added successfully and set as default")
}else{
WshNetwork = new ActiveXObject("WScript.Network");
var PrinterPath = "\\gpsprnt02\gpsacc01";
WshNetwork.AddWindowsPrinterConnection(PrinterPath);
alert("Printer GPSACC01 has been added successfully")
}}
</script>
<font color="#0000FF" face="Arial">
<a href="" onclick="addPrinter25(); return false;">GPSACC01</a></font>

JQuery :: Load Not Working Only Within A Certain Company's Network

Jan 21, 2011

I have tested this functionality across multiple browser from multiple computers in multiple locations, and it works fine, but for some reason within my client's office network, ajax content does not load. No browser errors are thrown. All I can tell is that within safari, for example, I will get a "cancelled" message in the activity log.

ActiveX - How To Save Excel Workbook To Network

Jul 1, 2010

I have an ActiveX Javascript function, that pulls data from an HTML table and then populates an Excel Workbook. This works OK, but I need to save the workbook to a network path. I have successfully saved it locally:

Code:
// Save the Excel Workbook
xlBook.SaveAs("C:\TEST.XLSX");
But this does not:

Code:
// Save the Excel Workbook
xlBook.SaveAs("\Server\Projects\TEST.XLSX");

When attempting this, I get this error:
SaveAs method of Workbook class failed
Which refers to the above. I have tried different variations, but with little success (sometimes the path will default to the Server's 'My Documents'/'User Shared' folder, with the filename:
ServerProjectsTEST.XLSX

JQuery :: Share Library Between Pages?

Jun 1, 2010

A web application is essentially one page with a bunch of popups that add and manage the data accumulated in the main or first page. The first page loads the jQuery library along with a bunch or plugins.

The modal popups contain an iFrame whose source is a different page. The source page also contain the jQuery library and pretty well the same plugins in most cases. The pages all use jQuery as a base for most of its client side processing.

At times the modal popups can be 4 or 5 deep. One popup is launched from the previous etc..

These libraries might total some 300k bytes or so.

Is there some way to avoid having to reload all the libraries each time a page is loaded. How can jQuery on the main page be used by all subsequent page.

I'd have to be using the libraries as it they were loaded as part or the page and not having to refer to the parent objects for example.

Could some script be run at the start of each page to load the javascript library form the previous page?

Can the jQuery library or anypluginwritten using jQuery beregardedas a singleJavaScriptobject that can be replicated from the parent page?

Tabbed Dialog Code Share?

Jan 14, 2010

Yesterday I made a tabbed auto-switching ad block in ActionScript. You can see it here:http://vtribes.com/inc/swf/services.htmlThis morning I decided I needed some fall back content for those odd types who still refuse to either use Flash plugins, or don't have the latest version. So I came up with a simple CSS/JS table with tabs to replicate the Flash movie, and thought I'd share it for anyone who might be interested.You can find it here:http://vtribes.com/inc/tabbedTable.htmlIt's very simple, but would work just fine if you wanted a tabbed dialog in HTML. It will also explain some rudimentary points in CSS, JS and HTML.

JQuery :: Animating Individual Elements That Share A Class With Others?

Oct 27, 2011

how to animate 1 individual element in a group of elements that share a specific class.

For example, say I have 6 buttons in a row that share the class="button"

They are all styled the same in CSS with .button { etc....}

And what I want to do is animate them when hovering, but only the one I am hovering over at the moment. For example, I've tried this:

$(".button").hover(function() {
$(this).stop().animate({ marginBottom: "200px"}, 800);
},function() {
$(this).stop().animate({marginBottom: "100px" }, 800);
});

Problem is, obviously, this animates all 6 buttons. I could write individual functions for each element but that seems wasteful. I'm assuming there is a way to do this in a more efficient manner.
