I was wondering if I had something like this:
Code HTML4Strict:
<div class="test" rel="item|other|another"></div>
Code JavaScript:
var items = $(".test").attr('rel');
Is there a way to explode these items into their own variable values? so like...
Code JavaScript:
item[0] = item
item[1] = other
item[2] = another

View 1 Replies View RelatedA web application is essentially one page with a bunch of popups that add and manage the data accumulated in the main or first page. The first page loads the jQuery library along with a bunch or plugins.
The modal popups contain an iFrame whose source is a different page. The source page also contain the jQuery library and pretty well the same plugins in most cases. The pages all use jQuery as a base for most of its client side processing.
At times the modal popups can be 4 or 5 deep. One popup is launched from the previous etc..
These libraries might total some 300k bytes or so.
Is there some way to avoid having to reload all the libraries each time a page is loaded. How can jQuery on the main page be used by all subsequent page.
I'd have to be using the libraries as it they were loaded as part or the page and not having to refer to the parent objects for example.
Could some script be run at the start of each page to load the javascript library form the previous page?
Can the jQuery library or anypluginwritten using jQuery beregardedas a singleJavaScriptobject that can be replicated from the parent page?
Is there a way to place a code that will be executed any time any button is pressed or any hyperlink is clicked? I don't want to write or call this code on every button press. Something similar to java's base class functionality that is extended by child classes? In my project ,I have to manage users to access my app - and if a user is deleted and that same user is having app open in one of her browser windows and she performs any action,she should be redirected to login screen.
I am thinking of writing a code that will check if user exists in the db or not and then put it in javascript file at a common place so that it gets executed everytime user presses a button(or does any other action). I am using jquery and Direct Web remoting framework in my app.
how to animate 1 individual element in a group of elements that share a specific class.
For example, say I have 6 buttons in a row that share the class="button"
They are all styled the same in CSS with .button { etc....}
And what I want to do is animate them when hovering, but only the one I am hovering over at the moment. For example, I've tried this:
$(".button").hover(function() {
$(this).stop().animate({ marginBottom: "200px"}, 800);
},function() {
$(this).stop().animate({marginBottom: "100px" }, 800);
});
Problem is, obviously, this animates all 6 buttons. I could write individual functions for each element but that seems wasteful. I'm assuming there is a way to do this in a more efficient manner.
if we does the click event on any of the Entity it should call userdefined method or event then the general event [code]...
But the required out put should be vise a versa
I am suppose to be called first and then I am suppose to be called next
I have twenty <select> fields on my page, but I want all of them to use one communal list of <option> values.
These values will be something like:
When someone selects a value from one of the <select> fields, I want that <option> value to have a strike through on all of the other <select> fields.
I am trying to modify the ExpCollGroup function within Share Point (2003) and don't have access to server or ows.js file where the function lives. I want the ExpCollGroup function to run (I'm using it to expand/collapse documents in a document library), and then when finished, want to be able to run my own function like DoSomething(). The below code works but fires before the ExpCollGroup code executes. What can I do to make the ExpCollGroup function execute, and then perform my DoSomething function?
$('[id^="img_"]').click(function() {
alert(The Expand/Collapse button was pressed but the loading of documents has not yet begun');})
I want to load an html div in a variable, modify it in another variable; and then change the document injecting the contents.
1. I load the html to be changed in a variable (code)
2. I modify an attribute of <param> using attr() and I put the result in a var (newcode)
3. I change the html in the doc
I've used the debugger, and all steps give the expected results, except of newcode.html(), which is a null string. Why?

when the user submits a form whose fields have not satisfied the validations, then how can we display a "message" saying that "please fill all the fields appropriately"? And also that message should disappear when the fields are appropriately filled.

<link rel="apple-touch-icon" href="/customIcon.png"/>
Basically, I want to be able to change the bolded part from a drop down menu. Like, the user would select a certain item in the drop down menu and it would change the bolded part to a different link (the one corresponding to the drop down menu selection).
Is there a way to make a form label change color when, eg: a checkbox is checked, a menu/list item selected, or a radio button clicked?
Let say the label was dark gray and then will change to green when it is selected.
The bad news is I do not have the slightest clue as to how this is going to happen or if it is possible with Javascript. I searched Google but nothing Is this possible?
Could anyone tell me how to create a user-object using javascript in a HTMl page and access the same object in another HTML page? Assume that i would like to create the user-object myObj in HTML page1, set some value to its property and then i would use location.href to load HTML page2 in the same window. Is there a way to access the user-object myObj in page2 script and read its property value?
View 4 Replies View RelatedYesterday I made a tabbed auto-switching ad block in ActionScript. You can see it here:http://vtribes.com/inc/swf/services.htmlThis morning I decided I needed some fall back content for those odd types who still refuse to either use Flash plugins, or don't have the latest version. So I came up with a simple CSS/JS table with tabs to replicate the Flash movie, and thought I'd share it for anyone who might be interested.You can find it here:http://vtribes.com/inc/tabbedTable.htmlIt's very simple, but would work just fine if you wanted a tabbed dialog in HTML. It will also explain some rudimentary points in CSS, JS and HTML.

One of the great annoyances I have with JavaScript is the lack of a good
consistent code library. Oh, there are a few code libraries scattered
around for doing various things. The problem is that each of them have
their own way of doing things. If we want to use more than one library
at a time, we often end up duplicating code and working with different
interfaces and practices that aren't necessarily compatible with each
other...
So... isn't it about time that we have a Common JavaScript Framework?
I'm thinking of a standardised code library, mostly (but not entirely)
built from the free code that is already out there. (I'm thinking of a
LGPL core with independantly licensed extensions.)
I know of a few very cool projects that aim to make JavaScript
development easier, more professional and to bridge the gap between
browsers and environments. (To name a few: DynAPI, DOMAPI, Sarissa,
13th parallels' library, netWindows, bindows, ActiveUI, f(m).) But I
don't know of any effort to bring all of these features into one common
framework. Can we do anything about this?
I'm not exactly proposing that we form a group to design and implement a
complete framework. I just think that, us, JavaScript developers should
talk to each other more and agree on a few things. Then, I imagine
being able to access this centralized, well designed library that is
ready for serious (and less serious) development and the dream goes on...
I have been working with JS (client and server) for some years now and
I'd like to bring more consistency to my code and spend less time
writing lower level code. So I may be writing this email more out of
wishful thinking than determined action. In any ways, I remain
interested to support any effort that would lead me to better, well
designed, programming.
I had placed FB share button in my webpage but its not displaying properly in IE6 and lower versions.

That is the code:

for j=0 to 380/23
Response.Write "<div id=divmic" & i & j & "

If I try this code, what is inside of "each" instruction works, but if I want to access all those elements having id starts with "divmic", it doesn' work. Why it's happen that think and how to put all those elements into an array, in ExtJs ?
Usually I have various JavaScript functions for common functionality on my pages (i.e. select all, export, etc.). Typically I will create a common.js file and place these functions within it. Is there any advantage to create a client side object which encapsulates this functionality such that I'd use something lik common.SelectAll() or something similar?
Not sure if there is a best practice peeps follow for this or not.
