I have a button that opens up a dialog box. When "search" in the dialog box is clicked, another dialog box is supposed to open. Everything works great ONE TIME. If I try clicking on the button again, the first dialog box opens, but when I click on "search" again, nothing happens.

I am trying to open a document or window from
<a href="#" onclick="javascript: Open_Win();"><img src="images/Touching-God-Fast.jpg" alt="Touching God Fast" width="320" height="65" border="0"></a>
Where the function Open_Win() is:
function Open_Win()
{
window.open("http://www.xyz.org/Touching-God-Fast.html","Touching God Fast","scrollbars=yes, statusbar=yes, height=500, width=850");
}
Works great on a Mac but under IE in windows xp it states that there is an error on the page. What am I doing wrong?

I'm redesigning my webpage and thought it would be a good idea to have windows popup if someone had a question about terminology. So basically, I wrote a small function that was supposed to popup a 400x300 window centered towards the top left of the screen with some basic parameters...
this code is inserted into the head
Code:
<Script Language="JavaScript 1.1" type="text/javascript;version=1.1">
function jargon(url){
var screenw = 800;
var screenh = 600;
screenw = screen.width;
screenh = screen.height;
var mywin = window.open(url, 'jargon', 'left=screenw / 4, top=screenh / 4, width=400, height=300, toolbar=0, menubar=0, resizeable=0, status=0');
}
</script>
(the screenw and screenh are meant for older browsers)
which is meant to be embedded in the code like....
Code:
<a href="#" onclick="jargon('../jargon/php.php');">PHP</a>
But whenever I try this, it just uses the # link and nothing happens.
This is the link (and I have a function called check_group):
Code:
<a href="javascript:viod(0)" onclick="check_group('<?php echo $codart ?>','<?php echo $codfam ?>')"><?php echo $gname?></a>
I have a function called check group. I want to open that link in a new window.
I am studying Javascript to custom my yahoo estore, I need to open a custom sized window in a new browser , I tried the following script on 3 different PCs running XP
pro. IE 6, it worked on one and did not work on the other two. Code:
turning the following inline code:
<a href="http://www.bing.com/" name="bing" onclick="return !window.open(this.href)">Bing</a><br>
<a href="http://www.lycos.com/" name="lycos" onclick="return !window.open(this.href)">Lycos</a><br>
[Code]....
into an external javascript function that will do the same thing (open all links in a new window individually if javascript is enabled, without destroying links in html for if javascript is not enabled).
I'm figuring this will need to be done in a function. I'm building a page builder with 2 fields, a textbox called 'title' and a textarea called 'text' (imaginative huh!).
I want to have a preview facility. I've built the preview page, all I want to do is have a javascript button that passes the value of those two text fields to this preview page in the querystring. Is there a way using variables to pass this through?
I have the following code:
Code:
$(".buy_icon").click(function () {
window.location = "[URL]"
});
Which loads the URL in the current browser window when the div (buy_icon) is clicked. How can I load the URL in a new tab or window?
At the moment I have a link in a div that targets an ASP page to remove an item from the database.
<a class="small" href="/products.asp?Action=RemoveProduct&ID=<%=(rsCartItems.Fields.Item("ID").Value)%>">remove</a>
What I could like to do is use JQuery .click and .ajaxmethods but the only thing I am unsure of is hot to get the ID of the a href tag containing the unique item ID that relates to the db record. Can I use this.id?
<script>
$(document).ready(function
(){
$(".removecartitem"

I am really tired with Chrome, one of my window.open() Stuff work fine in FF and Opera in Fedora O.S. But Chrome Did not, my code is like:
Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
function getpage(id, type){
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
data: "key="+id,
async: false,
url: "<?php echo site_url(); ?>/server/precp/"+type,
success: function (msg) {
window.open("<?php echo site_url(); ?>/server/cplogin/"+msg, "autologin");
}});}
</script>
And it call in another JavaScript function like:
Code:
function doKeyup(id,e){
if(e == 13) {
var cp = $("table#serverdata tbody tr#container_tr.row_no td:nth-child(7) a#cp").html();
var dc = $("table#serverdata tbody tr#container_tr.row_no td:nth-child(7) a#dc").html();
if(cp != null || dc != null ) {
var firstId = $("table#serverdata tbody tr#container_tr.row_no td:nth-child(1) input[type=checkbox]").val();
}if(cp != null) {
alert("Enter here");
getpage(firstId,'cp');
return false;
}
And it firstly call from onkeyup as :
Code:
<input type="text" name="find_text0" id="find_text0" autocomplete="off" <?php if ('B' == $sb_pos) { ?> onfocus="document.getElementById('find_text1').value='';" <?php } ?> onkeyup = "return doKeyup('0',event.keyCode);" />
We want to load the popup window when the page is loaded but this popup window must not be visible to the end user. We need this to do some processing in the popup window which is hidden.
Is this possible? Is this correct/valid?
I'm trying to use window.open from inside a user defined function, and

Im currently building a new discount-webpage and Im looking for a solution to be able to hover over a discount button to reveal a small text without clicking. And after clicking on the button that the text in the flash button is copied into the clipboard and a new page open with a small frame from my window with the new page underneith. examples of this kind of script can be viewed on this page: [URL]... Im not looking for someone to do this for me. All I want to know if there is another language to do this with like possibly java? and maybe some links to tutorials. (the current page solves this with flash which I havent worked with before.)

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a problem using dialog JQ command. More specifically, I want the button called "Edit" (line 7 below) to open only 1 window as opposed to all behind each other. Below is some of the code I use right now and a short description of what happens with the codde.
<!-- C# and HTML code here-->
<table><tbody>
<% foreach (var item in Model) { %>
<tr>
[Code].....
What the application does so far is it loads the table and has an edit button next to each row (line 7 above), however when the "Edit" button is pressed the Html.RenderAction (line 8) pulls up edit windows for all of the items (item.ID) on the list instead of only the selected one row. This means that there are currently about 25 windows that pop up behind each other.
What I want the code to do but so far was unable to figure out is only to open the edit window for selected row.
I have multiple parent sections on the page. Each section has 3 child sections. Each parent toggles open and closed. and within each section there are buttons to toggle the children open and closed.
In the case of both the parents and their children, when a parent is toggled open I want the other parents to toggle closed . The same applies to the children of each parent. I want to close all the other open children when a child is toggled open. Rather like some accordions - which I can not use for this function. This way there is only one parent and one child open at any time
Because of the number of parents and children on the page I can not use Ids. All are designated by classes
my file is located at c:AdminFiles.xml
i tried the following ways
window.open("c:/AdminFiles.xml",'HeavyXml');
window.open("c:AdminFiles.xml",'HeavyXml');
window.open("c:\AdminFiles.xml",'HeavyXml');
in the above i'm getting the following error: "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (c) isnt associated with any program"
window.open("file:///c:\AdminFiles.xml",'HeavyXml');
the last attempt give to respond at all...
I am now able to list the folders and files in a directory. However, when I try to pass the values into another function to open the folder/file, I encounter an error saying object expected. I'm guessing that its the in the file paths that is causing the error. so my solution is to find the and replace it with a \ before passing it to the function to open the file. but the str.replace("\","\\") does not seem to work.

With ref. to MS IE, when I use window.open with the usual sizing and
'toolbar=yes', 'menubar=yes' the target URL opens in a new window -
but without an address bar.
'addressbar=yes' does not seem valid. Can someone please tell me how
to proceed?
When creating a new window and specifying ANY features (on or off) at all like such:
<A HREF="javascript:void(0)"
onclick="window.open('NONE.php','welcome','toolbar=1,location=1,directories=1,status=1,menubar=1,resizable=1, scollbars=1')">
Open a new window</A> the new window does not have scrollbars even though scrollbars are necessary for my document (vertically, at least).
This problem occurs in Firefox and Internet Explorer 6. The problem does NOT occur if there are no features are specified.
