I need a Javascript that will delete specific cookies when a popup window is closed.
So, the idea is when a user clicks on our link, that link takes the user to a popup window where they can enter information on an external site. We need the script to delete specific cookies that were saved after the popup window is engaged. Upon the popup window closing, I need the specific cookies deleted.
I have the name of 3 cookies that engaged when the popup window is open.

Is there a way to delete a server-side file if the browser is closed? I have a pop-up window that allows a user to send an email to someone that will have a file attachment. Currently, the file data is read from a VARBINARY(MAX) column in a database and created/saved in a folder that is created for it (with a unique name for the directory) when the pop-up first loads. When the form is submit, the file is emailed then deleted and the directory for it is removed.
If the user changes his/her mind and closes the pop-up without hitting submit, the file and directory are left. I'd like to be able to delete the file and remove the directory if the pop-up is closed without hitting submit.Can this be done with JavaScript? Or can this only be done with a dynamic server-side scripting language like PHP, ASP, ColdFusion?If only server-side scripting can do this, how can I trigger the script to run when the browser is closed?

I'm kinda new in scripting, so this is why I ask the pro ppl.I'm trying to make an obfuscation with html+javascript(only these are allowed on mydisk.se), where:file1.html: displays some text, creates a cookie with a keyword, then after a few time a link appears to file2.html.file2.html part1: checks for the content of the cookie created, if it matches with the defined keyword, then deletes the cookie and shows some text part2: if cookie doesn't match, shows another text.

I am currently designing a on online shopping cart using cookies to store the customers selection. Basically on the shopping page, the user clicks a button which creates a cookie. When the user has finished all her shopping, she is taken to another page, where the articles, prices and subtotal is displayed using an HMTL table. I can create the cookies ok, but I am having trouble deleting the cookies. I have added a button to each line item in the table and the idea is that when the user clicks on the button, the line (and therefore the cookie) is deleted.The only problem is that nothing happens when the delete button is clicked!This is the script I have written to create and delete the cookies:
var cart=document.cookie;
function getCookie(name){
var index = cart.indexOf(name + "=");

I have a simple page with two frames, left which houses a menu and a right frame which is used for the site content.
On the left hand menu frame I have a simple login system which requires the user to login, when they login a cookie is created called memberCookie to hold their memberid.
When they are logged in one of the options is to logout, on this page is a link to an external JS file called alert.js, which simply prompts the user if they wish to logout in a function called alert_logout Code:

I have the following code which deletes, i.e. sets the cookie in the past, a cookie.
var cookie_name = 'memberCookie'
var cookie_date = new Date(); // Current Date & Time
cookie_date.setDate (cookie_date.getDate() - 5);
var cookie = cookie_name + "=; expires=" + cookie_date.toGMTString() + "; path=/";
parent.menu.document.cookie = cookie;
parent.menu.location.reload(1)
parent.menu.document.cookie - this is just the path to the cookie which resides in a frame called menu.
This code works in Mozilla, as it stores the cookie by name i.e. memberCookie, however in Internet Explorer the cookie file is named ti8@localhost[1] which is just my username and server name from uni. Is this the reason it cannot delete the cookie? Or despite the file being called ti8@localhost[1] the cookie is really named memberCookie?
Can anyone please provide any advice for me. Would I need two seperate statements, one which deletes the cookie in Mozilla and one for IE?

My Cookie Editor is contiained in a single "javascript:" link, and utilizes FireFox's ability to use really long URLs (over 4k chars).
The script does not work in IE. I had originaly coded a cross browser version, but after 500 or so characters IE stops executing the script.
I have posted a working example on the web at:
www.vortexcortex.com/tools/cookie/ (http://www.vortexcortex.com/tools/cookie/)
Features:
Modify cookie values for any site you want
Support for secure cookies
Create New cookies
Delete cookies
Session Only or Persistant cookies
Escape and Unescape cookie values for easier editing
Here is the HTML / Javascript source:

I have protected my cookies by setting them to httponly, but now I am trying to check them through jQuery without sending a AJAX request that checks if the cookie exists using PHP then returns the confirmation (slower). So is there a way to read my own cookies only using jQuery?

Now, I am not talking about some kind of malicious coding, or spyware writing by any means, but I do need it to be able to read the cookies from a site other than my own. At least I think this is what is required. What I am trying to accomplish is this; I have a stats package setup on a different domain than my live website and I am using it to track the stats of the users on my site other than paying for stats service through some other company, and it seems to be working just as I need it to, only I would like for it to be able to do a little bit more. Right now, all it is capturing form the user is their IP address, browser information and host information on their ISP. But, I would like for it to be able do more. I would like for it to be able to retrieve certain cookies generated by a different site and show me the information in which the cookies hold... I am not talking about displaying passwords or any such thing like that, I just need certain information.

I created a simple cookie to save a high score and it works fine when I go to another site and come back without closing the browser, but when I close the browser and open a new one, the saved information is gone. This is what my save and load code looks like:
bestScore = parseInt(document.cookie);
document.cookie = bestScore.toString();

I have googled for my issue in this group. This question was asked
many times and many solution was given. But I want clear cut solution
for the issue.
The issue is:
I tried to capture the browse close event by using
Body onunload=fn1() statement and it is working fine.
I have one Parent and child window.
My req is to close the child window when I click -X- buton in IE. It
is also working fine. (I wrote condition in Unload event of the parent
page).
But when the page is postback (when I click one button) the unload
event fires and it closes my child window automatically. But I want my
child window should not close this situation.
