How Can I Delete A Cookie From An External JS File In A Frame?

Feb 2, 2006

I have a simple page with two frames, left which houses a menu and a right frame which is used for the site content.

On the left hand menu frame I have a simple login system which requires the user to login, when they login a cookie is created called memberCookie to hold their memberid.

When they are logged in one of the options is to logout, on this page is a link to an external JS file called alert.js, which simply prompts the user if they wish to logout in a function called alert_logout Code:

How Can I Delete A Cookie In Internet Explorer - It Works In Mozilla !

Feb 3, 2006

I have the following code which deletes, i.e. sets the cookie in the past, a cookie.

var cookie_name = 'memberCookie'
var cookie_date = new Date(); // Current Date & Time
cookie_date.setDate (cookie_date.getDate() - 5);
var cookie = cookie_name + "=; expires=" + cookie_date.toGMTString() + "; path=/";
parent.menu.document.cookie = cookie;
parent.menu.location.reload(1)
parent.menu.document.cookie - this is just the path to the cookie which resides in a frame called menu.

This code works in Mozilla, as it stores the cookie by name i.e. memberCookie, however in Internet Explorer the cookie file is named ti8@localhost[1] which is just my username and server name from uni. Is this the reason it cannot delete the cookie? Or despite the file being called ti8@localhost[1] the cookie is really named memberCookie?

Can anyone please provide any advice for me. Would I need two seperate statements, one which deletes the cookie in Mozilla and one for IE?

Cookie Editing - Using - Only Displays Certain Text If The Cookie Is A Certain Number

Apr 30, 2009

I am making a sort of text based game (Just a hobby) I like to do that sort of thing. So, anyway, considering all I can really do is code HTML, and very, very light javascript, I kinda need some help.

I basicly know how to do everything except affect & Use the cookies. So what I need to do with them is to

#1.) Have a code to change the cookie number, say... on the click of a button.

#2.) Have a code where it only displays certain text if the cookie is a certain number.

I cant code JS and have no idea how hard/easy this is.

If it is insanely hard & needs a master coder, just tell me and ill take it off. I dont want to be wasting anyones time.

IE6 Always Rejects A Particular Cookie Regardless Of Privacy/cookie Setting

Jul 23, 2005

I have an embedded system with a web interface. One of the web pages
has a small JavaScript program that, when run on IE6, always displays
the message that cookies need to be enabled:

if (document.cookie.indexOf('asm_session') == -1)
{
document.cookie = 'asm_session=0'
if (document.cookie.indexOf('asm_session') == -1)
{
document.write("Advanced System Management access requires
cookies to be enabled."+'<br><br>');
}
}

This problem only occurs with IE6, not Mozilla. It also only happens
on some of the embedded systems, but this problem exists for everyone
running IE6.

The problem isn't limited to the Javascript code, either. On another
web page from this embedded system, a cookie is set the normal way,
via the HTTP header. This cookie is also rejected.

When I display any page that attempts to set a cookie, IE6 displays
the blocked icon and says that cookies on that URL are blocked.
However, I have set all privacy and cookie options to their most
permissive. I've spent the past hour changing every option I can find
that's even remotely related to cookies and privacy, and nothing
changes. Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

Retrieving Cookie Data Through Document.cookie

Jul 20, 2005

In my web application we are able to store large data in the browser
cookie keeping in mind the limit of 300 cookies per cookie file, 20
keys per cookie per domain and 4KB max size of each cookie. We are
unable to retreive this large amount of data immediately after storing
through document.cookie in IE browser (The same works fine in
Netscape).

Is there any limit on the size of the data that can be retreived using
document.cookie in IE browser? Could you please suggest a solution to
this problem I am facing.

Pop Up Ask Yes And No Before Delete

Jul 6, 2011

here's the code

<div class="artworkdelete">
<a href="javascript:void(0);" id="del_<?=$artworkDetails['artwork_id'] ?>_<?=$temp_cat_id; ?>" onclick="deleteThisArtWork(this.id)">Delete</a>
</div>

that's actually a "Delete" link , when I click it, there's a some sort of loading animation like stuff , similar to the thing that appears when one clicks the edit button of a thread here in this forum..then and it deletes the data and doesn't need to refresh the page, i guess it is ajax.....it's not my code.. now I was asked to alter it and use a pop up box to ask the clicker "Yes" or "No" before deleting the data , what or how to change that code snippet i pasted above

Add & Delete Drop-downs

Sep 6, 2005

i have a soccer-site, on which of course,
can be kept track of played matches.
Now the admin has to be able to set the number
of goals, and then select who scored what goal.

I want a system where one can put a number in
a textfield (NaN would return an error).
Say the admin enters &#393;'. Then three dropdown
lists appear below that field, in them are the
players.
If he turns &#393;' (goals) into &#392;', the lowest one
has to be deleted, but the upper two have to stay,
with an unchanged (already selected) value ...

Preferrably cross browser. I just can't seem to
figure out, i've tried loads of innerHTML and
document.write(), both didn't give me what i
wanted (yet).

Delete Last Item In A List

Nov 9, 2007

I have a list called drawPathList thats just a list of xy
coordinates. I use this to construct a drawing on a map. However,
people would like to be able to 'Undo' something that they have drawn,
so I'd like to yank that last item in a given list.

drawPathList looks like this: 23,34||45,67||456,678||43,78

Can someone help me with a function to remove the last item in the
list (regardless of length)?

New & Delete Usage Question

Jul 20, 2005

I'm used to C/C++ where if you "new" something you really need to "delete"
it later. Is that also true in javascript? if i do "mydate = new date();"
in a function and dont "delete mydate" when the function exits do i have a
memory leak or other trouble brewing?

ie:
function MyFn() {
var mydate;

mydate = new date();
}

does the above function present a problem (what if its called over and over
and over etc)? or is the allocation automaticaly freed on function exit?
