Is it just extraneous code possibly? It seems to be ok (from right to left) in Firefox 3 but using IE and Opera, it scrolls from btm to top and I cannot figure out why.
I'm using the following piece of code to create a link that, when clicked, uses jquery animation to slowly display a paragraph of text. The trouble is that the animation goes both vertically and horizontally, making it look a little too busy/cluttery. How can I tweak my code to make it only animate vertically?

What I want is for the logo box & navigation box to scroll along with the page, fixed horizontally. But when the user scrolls vertically through content, such as the stuff on the home div, I don't want the logo & nav to scroll.

I'm working on a blog design. (See code below.) I'd like to fix #title vertically so that when people scroll down the blog, it stays in view in the window. I couldn't think of a CSS way to do it. Using position:fixed doesn't work because if someone is viewing the site from a netbook, or simply from a downsized browser on their normal computer, #title is either cut off -- if it's positioned relative to the left -- or it overlaps the blog content -- if it's positioned relative to the right.
I've read suggestions to use Javascript but my Javascript skills are practically non-existent. The suggestions were to use an onscroll handler, and to use scrollTop. This is what I wrote but (probably for obvious reasons) it isn't working:

I have been looking for rss scrollers/tickers which go horizontally, I
have found one which goes vertically and is very good, but I have no
idea how to change this to go hoirzontally.
Does anyone know of a script I can use to solve my problem.
Obviously it is impossible to show the script I am using for the
vertical one as it is made up of several files.
i've been wrestling with this issue for the last hour. I can't seem to get thiscentreddiv to animate properly.What it currently does:A small div, (10x2px) expands to full 100% width and 100% height. However, it expands in the bottom right hand corner of the screen.
What I am trying to get it to do: To expand equally in all four directions.

I have a question about this scroller/ticker script (http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex2/mikescroll.htm) I'm working with. I'm able to get the script working on it's own page, but when I put into my HTML I'm having an issue where all the test lays on-top of each other and the scrolling is broken (see attached image).

I'm trying to get some thumbnail images that are displayed with ClueTip to be centered vertically & horizontally. The images are various sizes, though none is larger than 150px on a side, so I set ClueTip to have a width & height of 200px. The images are wrapped in a div so that I can have them display: none by default, yet assign display: block to the images themselves.

The images are always aligned left & top. Eventually, I figured out that it was div#cluetip-inner that was the culprit. While the outer div has a height and width, the inner div has display:inline-block and so was shrinking down to the img size, essentially. I then added:

The 186px is to avoid getting scrollbars and the BG color is to assure myself that it's resizing ok. However, the images remain centered horizontally only. Is there something else I've missed?
We have jcarousel on our forum site which rotates automatically. It is vbulletine forum. In fact originally it was working fine with old design and rotating images automatically in horizontal direction with a set of 5 images visible at a time and total 12 images in set.But we have upgraded our forum design in last week and I started getting issues with Jcarousel scroller.[URL] At new design when we implemented jcarousel scroller it is showing only one image in a horizontal row at jscroller and it disappears immediately and after 3-4 min it do reappear again. When I inspected it using firebug I have noticed that other images are coming below vertically not horizontally, really strange. Also I noticed another thing is that it is not updating width at element.style in firebug for UL tag. It is showing fix width 220 px all time. I think due to that all images appearing vertically one after one rather than horizontally.

The text is yellow..size 10, yet whatever font family i specify, will ALWAYS appear in the font Georgia (in the browser im using, Firefox.) in both Opera and IE, it comes out Times New Roman! this is a real rooky problem, but i am a rooky and i'd just like to understand why, and how to ACTUALLY get Calibri.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm currently working on a browser based 2d multiplayer rpg using PHP and ajax. As the number of beta testers has increased, I have found that there is a significant amount of lag involved in changing maps (maps are 480x480px ea consisting of multiple images. What I would *like* to do, ideally, is only load each image once. So the first time I encounter "grass1.png", for example, it is loaded into div id "grass1", and never needs to be loaded again. My question is this, is it possible, to do the above, and then call div id "grass1" for each instance of the image?
This way, I could store all images encountered thus far. When the player left a map, all images would be positioned off-screen, and moved into the field of view as needed. I am already doing this, but there is a div for each unique object. (meaning there could be 10+ divs for the same image, for just one single map!). This would be much more efficient if I were able to call and store just one div per image, and just display it multiple times in multiple places.
When you click on the "Printer Friendly Order Summary" button, an alert for the req'd fields popups up THREE times and I don't know why.... it's also popping up EVEN when all req'd fields have been filled out, and then it proceeds to the next page as it should. View 3 Replies View Relatedi have a bbcode for download links on my forum when this bbcode is parsed, it will display a link under the download link BUT only for the first 3 links.so basically i would need a javascript with a counter, that will display some text if the counter is > 3 and then add +1 to the counter normally i would EASILY do this with php, but i can't (bbcodes are parsed not parsed by server on phpbb, and you can't use php code in bbcodes)
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had this script for a few years which I use to make a search box, it adds the user's search to the end of a url, so you can make a search box for Google or pretty much anything. If the user clicks on submit ('Find') without selecting a pull down option I like the script to alert something like 'select a site' or if they don't enter any keyword to alert 'enter a keyword', however when either of these happens, the alert box needs to be clicked several times to get rid of the alert. so I'm wondering if the script is running in some kind of loop.... The script does what I wat I just want to make the alert boxes go after the first 'click' to hide them...

Now, after the function has run, I cannot run it again. It stops all completely.
I have put some variable in it to see it's running or not. But that doesn't help it anyway.
Has this something to do with event bubbling or something else?

I have been tasked with creating a small tool that will allow messages to be copied and pasted from a form. I have the form and have the basics of what I need but I am stuck with dates and times.
Long story short, I am trying to figure out how to get a message to be displayed on a page using the document.write depending on the following criteria:
If the day and time are monday to Friday 08:00 to 15:00 the message will state that the next update will be in 2 hours time from when this update was posted
If the day and time are monday to thursday 15:00 to 18:00 the message will state that the next update will be at 09:00 the next working day (i.e. if it's 16:30 on a tuesday, the next update will be at 09:00 on wednesday etc)
If the day and time are friday 15:00 to 18:00 the next message will state that the next update will be at 09:00 the next monday.
i'm new to JS and am trying to use an image several times on the same page, having each image show rollover behavior. The rollover code works for the first image on the page, but when I hover over subsequent images it only changes the rollover state of the first image on the page, not the image I'm hovering over. I'm using the following functions to change rollover state:

I hope someone can tell me why this is not working. I have a form that
dynamically creates the code below. This is for one product and there are
about 10 to 50 products that are listed depending on what manufacturer the
user selects. After "buying" a few products (4-8) they user gets the error
message: 'QUANTITY.value' is null or not an object.
Do you see a workaround/fix for this?
I posted this on February 19, 2004 under the title 'value is null or not an
object -- after a few submits' and received some syntax tips. The
formatting has been applied and I hope someone can offer some programmatic
help.
