I am working on an exercise I found on a website. The problem is that my loops will not update the running total values in these functions I am keeping. I have having a hard time finding where the error is occuring

I have a bulk editable gridview. There are 15 editable columns (which sum to 100) in each row. The number of rows may vary, depending on what the user has selected. I want to find a way of keeping a running total up to 100 in each row when the user is entering values into the editable columns. I then want to save this data.
The running total column (Total) is a bound column and not editable by the user.

I have a multiple choice quiz in HTML. My requirement for scoring this quiz seems to be different from every other quiz I have seen on the net.
This is due mainly, I believe, to the fact that the number of questions involved in this quiz can be from 1 to infinite as the user action brings up the next question from external JS Q&A files.
In addition I want the user to see their score amended each time they answer a question, not at the end of the quiz (which theoretically may never happen).
In the existing code I already determine and provide "Correct" and "Incorrect" messages immediately following the selection of any of the four 'answer' radio buttons.
What I need to do now is to find out how I can arrange to:
1 count all the Correct answers - when they occur and add to a 'running' total (RT1)
2 count all the Incorrect answers - when they occur and add to a 'running' total (RT2)
3 calculate:- (RT1/(RT1 + RT2)) x (100/1) = percentage success rate so far.
The percentage success rate so far� is to be shown in a text field for the user to see.
I'm just trying to find the best method of updating a running total of the value of list boxes. I basically have 6 items and I want a drop down box listing quantities. when a number is selected I want a total to update beneath. I'm not sure I can do this in PHP without reloading the page. Do i need to use Java script? if so I'm a total newbie can someone point me in the right direction?

View 2 Replies View Relatedi am currently developing a cart for a website at my company.What i am attempting to do is update the grand total field dynamically as the product total (determined by quantity & price) are being populated.Each product in the cart is being generated by a foreach (php) reading from a mysql database.As the total values are not being prepopulated im not exactly sure what the logic would be to get the desired values.
I will also mention im relatively new to the whole web development area, i started begining of this year and feel i could still learn alot about the 'logic' of a computer.If anything is unclear about what i stated above feel free to request additional information.

The above script is ok if entering the value first time. But when the user changes the value in any text box, it seems to add incorrectly. It adds what was already in the textboxes, then adds it again. How to display the correct value every time the user changes a value in one of the text boxes.

The number with the top vehicle search update when a user makes any of the selections in the form. I think I know how to get the number to update via php and mysql queries on the db but how can I get the effect where the number rolls to the newly updated total?
Have an example with an orderform for two products. The form has columns of textboxes. Split in a lot of sections (showing the first two as an example) These textboxes are then sent to a PHP script. But I want to validate that the form is correct first. In the last section I have two textboxes "sum_amount1" and "sum_amount2". Basically I want to add up all amount1[] boxes into sum_amount1. Not using textbox1 + textbox2 etc. but instead using a for loop.

If you have to change the code around for it to work that is fine as i can adapt my code to it And obviously this script has no real function to it, it is just an example to show the jist of my actual code(don't think you want to look at a few hundred lines now do you)

I used the sum of check boxes script, altered it for radio buttons and it works... except for one little nit-picking thing.If a user changes their mind and chooses the other radio button in the set, the total does not reflect the actual total unless they click again on an already set radio button on the side they are using.Here's the JS:

I have a issue with a javascript code that I wrote. This script is a simply for calculating the summation of 2 text input boxes and printing it in another text input box within the form. The entire form is then sent using Form post.The total is written back to the form's total text input box using the code below:
document.getElementById ('total').value = total
This code works perfectly for displaying the values on screen. However, when I send the form (PHP Post), the " total " field is empty. I have searched all over for possible solutions. But no solution yet.
1. document.getElementById ('total').INNERHTML = total .This does not even work on screen and total field is not updated on screen. Needless to say, the PHP Post variable was also empty.
My requirement is to develop a simple form with checkboxes which when selected calculate a price based on the value assigned to the checkbox. The form and calculations is working great but i need a few final touches which i can't work out.
1. I want the total to be in plain text and not in a text box maybe just drop the total value in a DIV.
2. I want the form to start with a default value for example 200, i have tried adding a hidden checkbox with a value of 200 and setting it to checked as default but it doesnt display 200 in the total when i first load the page it only calculates it when i select the first box and i need it to be displayed as the total even if no options are selected.

I have been looking at this code for two evenings now, and rewrote it 4 times already. It started out as jQuery code and now it's just concatenating strings together.
What I'm trying to do: Build a menu/outline using unordered lists from a multidimensional array.
What is happening: Inside the buildMenuHTML function, if I call buildMenuHTML, the for loop only happens once (i.e. only for 'i' having a value of '0'.) If I comment out the call to itself, it goes through the for loop all 3 times, but obviously the submenus are not created.

I'm looking to send a loop variable (i) to a function inside the loop, but I can't seem to get it to use the value I want, it keeps making it a reference of i and therefore the function is always called using the last value of i rather than the one it was set with.
So if i have 5 Tabs then Tab 1, when clicked, should call DefaultTabClick(0) and so on rather than always using 4 for any of the tabs.
