Links Not Hiding When They Are Supposed To

Aug 31, 2010

I have a back button and a forward button. When the first paragraph fades in, back button should be hidden. When the last paragraph fades in, the forward button should be hidden. Yet, neither of them are hiding, ever:

Code:
$nextGraph = $('#group1 p:first');
$('#group1 .slidernav').prepend("<a href='#' class='control' id='leftControl'>Back</a>").append("<a href='#' class='control' id='rightControl'>Forward</a>");
manageControls($nextGraph);
$('#group1 .slidernav a').bind('click', function(){
var triggerID = $active.attr("rel") - 1;
var image_reelPosition = triggerID * imageWidth;
clearInterval(playFade);
// clearInterval(play);

$nextGraph = ($(this).attr('id')=='rightControl') ? $nextGraph.next() : $nextGraph.prev();
manageControls($nextGraph);
$(".image_reel p").animate({
opacity: 0,
left: image_reelPosition + 500
}, 500 );
$nextGraph.animate({
opacity: 1,
left: image_reelPosition
}, 800 );
});

function manageControls(currentGraph){
(currentGraph==$('#group1 p:first')) ? $('#leftControl').hide() : $('#leftControl').show();
(currentGraph==$('#group1 p:last')) ? $('#rightControl').hide() : $('#rightControl').show();
};

JQuery :: Cycle -- Hiding And Showing 'prev' And 'next' Links

Sep 15, 2010

well, I thought this wasn't a cycle question specifically, but it looks like it is. [URL]

in case it's not ok to just post link to my post about this on "using jQuery" forum:

this is code in cycle plugin to hide "next" nav at last slide, hide "prev" nav at first slide:

$('a#prev')[index == 0 ? 'hide' : 'show']();
$('a#next')[index == opts.slideCount - 1 ? 'hide' : 'show']();

but what if instead of just 'hide' and 'show' I want to call a function (because I want to, let's say, just change the font-color of the link instead of hiding it)? so I did:

$('a#next')[index == opts.slideCount - 1 ? 'disableNext' : 'showNext']();
}
function disableNext() {
$('a#next').css('color','EEEEEE');

[Code]....

(and what I actually want to do is change the link to a non-link by doing sthg like $('span....').html(change code to non-link..), etc... )

JQuery :: Hiding Empty Span - Ui-widget-header Class Appears To Be Stopping It From Hiding

Jan 30, 2010

I'm using the following css code which wrapped around a dynamically populated field;<span class="ui-widget-header platform ui-corner-all"></span>

When the span is empty I want to hide it, and I've used this jquery to do this.

However, the ui-widget-header class appears to be stopping it from hiding - if I remove this class it hides fine.

Is This Generated Javascript Supposed To Be There?

Dec 10, 2004

Hi all,
I have a site with frames. There is a list in the left hand frame generated by php/MySQL - list.php, and the detail of one of the listed items is shown in the main page - main.php.

While list.php reads each item from the database it generates a clickable link to main.php of the form:

Code:
<a href="javascript:void
(parent.main.location='main.php?id=123');">name123</a>
When list.php comes to the default item, it also generates an autolink of the form:

Code:
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
void(parent.main.location='main.php?id=345');
</script>
Although this works OK, when I look at the generated HTML (using the browser 'source' view) there is the following javascript coding in addition to the above - is this supposed to be there or is it an error?

Code:
<script language="JavaScript">
<!--
function SymError()
{
return true;
}
window.
var SymRealWinOpen = window.open;
function SymWinOpen(url, name, attributes)
{
return (new Object());
}
window.open = SymWinOpen;
//-->
</script>
and ...

Code:
<script language="JavaScript">
<!--
var SymRealOnLoad;
var SymRealOnUnload;
function SymOnUnload()
{
window.open = SymWinOpen;
if(SymRealOnUnload != null)
SymRealOnUnload();
}
function SymOnLoad()
{
if(SymRealOnLoad != null)
SymRealOnLoad();
window.open = SymRealWinOpen;
SymRealOnUnload = window.onunload;
window.
}
SymRealOnLoad = window.onload;
window.
//-->
</script>
Thanks, Jack.

Script Processing Form When It's Not Supposed To

Sep 18, 2004

I have a snippet of javascript to check and make sure all the fields in a form are filled in. If they aren't then it shows an alert box telling you to put something in that form. If all the fields are filled in then it submits the form. That piece of code is this:

Code:

function checkFields() {
var errors = "no";
if(document.street_team.email.value == "") {
alert("Please enter an e-mail address..");
errors = "yes";}
if(document.street_team.name_first.value == ""){
alert("Please enter your first name.");
errors = "yes";}
if(document.street_team.name_last.value == ""){
alert("Please enter your last name.");
errors = "yes";}
if(document.street_team.loc_state.value == ""){
alert("Please enter your state.");
errors = "yes";}
if(document.street_team.loc_city.value == ""){
alert("Please enter your city.");
errors = "yes";}
if(errors != "yes"){
document.street_team.submit();}
}
Then i used a button to start the script. That code is this:

Code:

<button onClick="checkFields()">Join</button>
The problem is that if you don't have something filled in and the alert box pops up, once you click "ok" it still processes the form. Any ideas on how to keep it from doing that?

When I Click On A Picture That Is Supposed To Open Ina New Window It Never Does?

Jul 20, 2005

Okay this is kind of an update/revision of what I posted before. Myproblem was that when I click on a picture that is supposed to open ina new window it never does. I tried downloading a newer version ofExplorer (IE6) but that did not help. I turned my pop-up software OFFso that would not interfere. When I click on the picture the bottomleft of my screen has the little explorer icon and says javascript:abrir ventana(??') the numbers vary from pic to pic and the "abrirventana" for "open window" is in spanish because the site has aspanish counterpart. This website worked for me on another computerwith XP but does not work with my windows ME. Could this be theproblem? Is there a way to fix this without upgrading to a differentversion of Windows?

Is there a jQuery function that can cause an element to slide down as in fly from an edge of a screen to the location that it is supposed to be at? The slideDown();function causes an element to start at the top of the container the element it is applied to and then roll down. I guess what I am looking for is something that would on an event slide from an edge of a screen or browser window to where it is supposed to go? Are there any functions or transitions like that?

The div is suppose to cover the whole page almost like a black transparent window on the page. However it is not. The messed up part about this is that it works fine in Firefox, google chrome and I'm sure other browsers (though haven't tested) and when I go to apply the div in my actual code as javascript is suppose to when you tell it create it, it works fine. No problems whatsoever.

Jquery :: Create Some Links With Window.open Method - When I Alert What Is Being Built, The Links Don't Work?

Mar 10, 2010

I'm using jquery/ajax to create some links with window.open method. Here's the relevant code:

$("#content").empty();
$.ajax({
type: "GET",[code]..........

Basically, when you click a link a function is called with a parameter based on the particular link you run. Then the code runs through an xml file, and if the parent of the nodes I've cyling through has a value equal to the parameter past to the function, that node is used to create a new link with window.open function attached to it.It all works, or seems to, and when I alert what is being built, it looks right to me, yet the links don't work.I've attached a copy of one of the alerts of one of the links as it's built.

Seperate Concatenated Form Values - 4 Text Boxes That Are Supposed To Load 4 Seperate Values Of Data

Jan 27, 2010

I have 4 text boxes that are supposed to load 4 seperate values of data from one field in one table from a database. The field is called interface_cropsettings (from the interface table) and these values have been concatenated and comma seperated in this field.

Code:

Once the form is filled out and saved, the data is inserted into the database and the values from these 4 text boxes are concatenated, comma seperated and inserted into that one field correctly.

(Example)

If the 4 text boxes have the following values:

In the database field they become:

However, if the form is closed and then re-opened, each text box displays the entire database field rather then each value seperated in the corresponding text box.

(Example)

All 4 text boxes display this:

I already know why the data appears like this in the form, my problem is that I'm not sure how to write the javascript to seperate the values into the correct corresponding fields, assuming javascript is what I should be using!

Also, this is kind of irrelevant but just in case you're wondering, this form is part of a cold fusion application!

How can I do this without typing in hundreds of ids like 1,2,3,4,5... Since you can't get elements by class and ids have to unique I'm not sure how to do this. Also the order of the rows will change when they get updated so it would end up being a mess of unordered ids.
