A question for the experts - let me first say that I'm not a coder, but I'm sufficiently competent to mess around with somebody elses code!
This is what I need:
I'm developing a website for a private railway, and wish to display a 'today's trains' panel on the front page of the site - there are up to twenty timetable diagrams, each of which has its own small html page file.
I need to figure a way of calling a different timetable panel to be displayed according to day of the year (ensuring that the correct timetable is displayed each day). Obviously I have a copy of the complete timetable, and it seems I need some code that will call a particular page according to what's happening that day.
Does anybody have any idea how a simpleton like me can set this up?
I'm trying to create a simple checkout system that utilizes cookies to pass information from page to page. Currently, my entire script works fine except for the read cookie portion. I cannot figure out what is wrong with it. It has been validated and the syntax is fine; it just doesn't work. I use the function with the onload call on my html file such as:

As far as I can tell, and it makes sense, when I set cookies for a page, say like this:

It works just fine, but it only sets the cookies for that particular page. Unfortunately I need it to remember that for all pages. In essence, this code belongs to a sign in page, but I need it to remember the username and password on all pages. I would like to avoid sending variables from page to page containing usernames and passwords if it's at all possible.
my sites all resize for users resolution by checking existing cookies but if i change my res then refresh its all wrong. I wrote a program to overwrite cookies on opening page but are there drawbacks ? if cookies havent expired do they get rewritten (like at startup) to keep them fresh? if so when(in the case of res)? if i write short term cookies will that cause problems for others?.

It is supposed to display a very simple page with an image. When you click the image it is supposed to open up a new (very simple) page.

I tried to get back the last visited tabs after page refresh using cookies. But I failed to set cookies here.
I have a page which takes information from a user. When the user clicks the "send" button, it stores data in a cookie then does a javascript redirect to the next page which grabs the info. I don't want the data to be present in the URL on the next page and the site is supposed to be put together without the use of PHP (the 2nd page is a confirm page that sends the data to Web Services).
This has been working great for everyone who has tried it, but there are a handful of complaints that users will not get the information they expected on the 2nd page. My question is, as I'm trying to debug this stuff, is it reasonable to think that the cookie may not be properly stored in time for the redirect to take place for some users?
I need to compute three dates in javascript - all of which relate to a given date, say todays date.
I need to calculate:
so i want a background that changes each day. and ideally i wouldn't be using an array for this.. and instead could just do something like...

with the images in the same directory being named 01.jpg for jan 1st, 031.jpg for jan 31st, etc. etc.
but i know nothing about the syntax or structure that that would require. i think my non-working example should at least explain what i want to accomplish... can someone tell me how i can do this? i know it's possible... i've seen every part i need in other scripts, and ten different ways to do it, but i just don't know how to make them all work together without getting a bunch of errors... :(
p.s. this is actually on my windows desktop, not a website. it seems like some scripts won't work in an html set as the desktop background, but will on a webpage.
I searched the forum on how to display a year. What I want to do is include the code so that the copyright year will automatically change without me manually changing it every year. I found the following code when doing a search in codingforums. Can I use this code on my site?

Also, some sites have the original year the website was created for the copyright. Others have the current year, and yet others have the created year thru the current year. Is there any 'rule' on what is supposed to be displayed?

I am trying to create simple JS code for two drop down lists...and I am unable to made anything work. Here are the specs:
On my asp page, I need two drop down lists, the first for a four position year (2006, 2005 , 2004, etc) and the second is for two position month. The hook is that I would like them to dynamically update in relation to the present date. Example...present month and year is 03/06. If I select 񟭆' from the year drop down - my only options for the month dropdown should be ༿', ༾', & ༽'. Next month (04/06), my options for the month dropdown should be ཀ', ༿', ༾', & ༽'. If I select 񟭅' - my options for the month drop down should include all 12 months.
I would like this to update dynamically...with no hard coded dates. The range would be now to 5 years prior. It seems like it should be easy but I just can't get the darn thing.
I have a list of serial numbers, a from and to set of numbers that correlate to a year. Id like to have a way to have a user enter a serial number, and have the year returned as the answer. For example;
100001 to 100100 = 1990
100101 to 100200 = 1991
100200 to 100300 = 1992
so if the user enters 100145 the answer 1991 would be returned
