I am looking for a Javascript WYSIWYG editor that I can include into a perl script to allow for editing a formfield, similar to what this forum offers when you make a post. Is there a script that I can use to code into the perl script to allow that to happen?

I couldn't manage to find out whether it's just in case of compatibility issues or the final solution. If latter comes true: why are you using a <div> element in the markup then and what's this all about this <textarea> solution (I've heard of this some time ago when looking for jQuery WYSIWYG editors) basically i'd like to understand how it is working, as I'm following the "learning-by-programming"-principle
View 3 Replies View RelatedBeen searching online for a while and I can't seem to find any decent solutions that work in both Firefox and IE --> basically I want to write a very simple WYSIWYG text editor where a user can highlight a word, click a "B" button and it adds bold tags around it.
Anybody have any idea how to accomplish this seemingly easy task? I've looked at the source code for various open source apps (like Wordpress and phpBB) but the code in both of these is gargantuan and fairly difficult to follow with all the includes and custom objects, functions etc.
For my projet I need to creat an editor WYSIWYG (as CKeditor or WYMeditor [jQuery]) and after must research i see editor need iFrame for functioning.I don't understand when i can access to ifram..This is the creat code :

I guess I could run a sql query on login of the contents of the database table, and store an array of image urls and thumbnails into a session, then have a 'pop-up' display the list of images you can choose from.Anyway, first thing's first. I need to be able to add the bbcode around text highlighted by the user, exactly like I am able to do with this handy SitePoint WYSIWYG editor I am using right now. View 8 Replies View RelatedI've got this code to add bbcode into a wysiwyg rich text editor. Everything's working fine except when I want to add an image. The first time the script is run everything is ok, but the second time I get two image inserts, third time I get three and so on.

So first time I click on '#uploads tr', I get [img="filename"], then if I type some more stuff and then add another image, I get [img="filename"] 'Some more stuff' [img="filename2"][img="filename2"], then I'll get three image tags, then four and so on. I can see that it's something to do with the line I've highlighted, but I can't see why, or how to change it.

Has anyone seen a javascript image editor of any sort?
I can imagine one that allows you to load up an existing image - draw lines, place text, fill etc using something like XMLHttpRequest to work. It would be like a java image editor but lighter. It would then let you save the new drawing.
I've tried looking round but not found much except a business card designer which allows you to type text at predefined locations.
I've been playing with some javascript code and have produced a very
rough proof of concept source code editor written in javascript (a bit
like FCKeditor). Its not ready for release ((L)GPL>2 when it is) but I
thought I'd ask for any guidance and tips.
The intention is to provide a language nuetral source code editor
writen purely in html and javascript so that it can provide code
highlighting/completion etc, eventually as part of an ajax(ish) IDE so
with fckeditor you can manage web sites completely remotely.
There is a temptation to try and use mozilla/venkman but I'd like it to
run on small handhelds too so I will stick to writing it in pure
Javascript/Html.
The intial plan is to produce a javascript editor and then a stylesheet
editor (using the CSS editor on Firefox may make this a low priority)
but I'd like it to be configurable for any language so almost any
coding can be done over the web.
Anybody know any examples of similar that I could plagiarise to get the

I am currently assisting in development of a PHP 4 / MySQL based web application. The application creates large environmental reports based on the information that the users input. Multiple sections of the site allow uses to enter text into a Javascript based Rich Text Editor that will then take whatever they enter and save it into the database. Once the first user enters this information it is sent up a level to a senior reviewer, who then checks the information that the first user entered.
At the end of last week, we had a user call us asking if we could track the changes that any particular user of the system makes, much like Microsoft Word does. I am only a beginning level developer, so I am unsure of how to do something like this and our senior developer is unsure as well.
My only thoughts to the issue would be to make a loop with x amount of users and an array of colors and as each user would make changes to the report, it would automatically loop through each color so that anyone could see who edited what. This seems a little too easy though.
I did a few Google searches but was unable to find anything relevant. Can anyone here help me out or point me in the direction of some way to do this?
I am using dom tabs and tinyMCE together on a form for people to edit their own personal information.
The problem is that domtab sets display to none and block of each tabbed section and tinyMCE does not like this. If you switch away from the tab that has tinyMCE and then back to it, you cannot add more text when using gecko browsers (IE works fine).
If you refresh the page after switching tabs, the wysiwig editor area works fine. Basically what I need to do is repaint tinyMCE each time I switch tabs. I tried to use the tinyMCE repaint function but I got an error saying that the function does not exist.
Has anyone had a similar problem or does anyone know how to refresh tinyMCE whenever you feel like it?
I'd like to add a wysiwyg feature on a textera field. Is there a recommended way of doing it? My searches didn't bring nothing.

I am hoping it can be a solution to edit a few areas on a site I am developing for non-html editors.
The part that confuses me with all these editors is how you access this edit mode?! I understand it all works with making areas you want to be editable into text areas, but how do the groups of users who want to edit those pages/areas actually access the page in WYSIWYG editor mode.

With this setup it is possible to have the user enter an invalid value "1899/5/11". The text box show this value.
1) If it is an invalid value, I don't want to allow it.The user can enter a "short" year like "51/8/21" which is actually "1951/8/11".
2) Since Datepicker is making assumptions about the "cutoff year", I would want to explicitly show in the input control the assumed year.The user can input an incomplete entry like "5/2".
3) Since this is also invalid input, I don't want to allow it.The user can input a bogus day value as in "1956/08/44". Datepicker assumes/transforms the day to 4. This is not WYSIWYG.
4) In this case, this is also bad data entry and I don't want to allow it.

I am trying to create a WYSIWYG editor for my site, but seeing as how every browser gives different results when using the execcommand method, I am trying to do my own insertions instead.
What I would like to do is create an iframe with designMode On to enable editing of the frame, but when someone does a command to bold text, I want to make a method which enters <b>Some Highlighted Text</b> into the frame where the user highlighted so it would appear bold and the source would have the <b> tags.
My issue is I have been unsuccessful in learning how to take the selected text within an iframe and surround it with tags. I was able to accomplish this in Internet Explorer using this code:
Except the resulting text would actually have the <i> tags appear, and the source would be:
Pretty retarded if you ask me since in no way did I want it to convert the tags into entities.
Anyway, if anyone could please direct me to a method in which I can successfully take selected text within the iframe and surround it with HTML tags in such a way that the formatting will actually show.

I am working on developing a not too complex bbCode editor, the first part I want to set up is bold, italics, and underline. I have my layout set up with images for each style. How do I set my images up so when they are clicked the add a tag in the text area where the cursor is? Also, if text is highlighted, how can I set it up so opening and closing tags are wrapped around the highlighted text?
