JS Adds Option To Select Element But Only Visualy?
Mar 10, 2009
To put things short, I just started with Ajax and was abel to update categories without reloading whole page. I even was abel to add the new categori to the drop down menu of categories. The problem comes when I try useing the new option.Now to expand on this. I have something like.
Code:
var optn = document.createElement("OPTION");
optn.text = document.categoryForm.category.value;
="theOptions1 " name ="theOptions1 "> <option> [Code]....
I want to pass it to a function that will show me the selected element: $(function() { $('#theOptions' + 2)).filterOn('#theOptions' +1, { 'a': ['a'], '1': ['1'] });}); here is a part of the function:
I have developed my own tools for serializing form data for asynchronous calls to the server (AJAX). I have consider many times that it would be useful that when a select element has both text and option values to send both values to the server. I have thought about a couple of different ways of doing this. But first let me give an example so that there is less chance of misunderstanding.Suppose I have a drop-down list that is a select element with an option list wherein each member of the option list has both a value and a text string. as in Code:
When the user clicks the remove link it properly adds a new option to the dropdown however it adds it 3 times meaning 3 option tags. Why is that?
Code: // Add a click handler to each anchor tag in the characterList <ul> element $('#characterList a').click( function(evt) { evt.preventDefault();[code].....
I am trying to display a rel of each option as they are selected into a div below it . There are several selects of classProductAvailability on the page. When one of the selects changes, I'd like the value of the rel of the selected option to display.At first it seems to work, but only if you start by changing the last pull down menu. The trouble seems to be in the"select.ProductAvailability option:selected", this needs to be written for this instance, not all of the selects of that class on the page. How do I write that, I've tried$(this+" option:selected") but it won't take.
I'd like to have an alert of some type, either standard alert or a hidden div, show up when a user selects an option in a select element.
For instance, if a select element has 5 options in it and the user chooses the first one, they would get an alert that says "You have chosen the first option". I'm confident this is something that can be done with a few lines of code, but I'm not sure where to begin.
Here's the logic - I'm just not sure how to write the syntax...
If ("#select option") changes and ("#select option:eq(0):selected"), fade in the div ("alert").
Can someone tell me how to make a javascript that will add a shipping price ($5.00) to any price that is listed as a value for a select menu on multiple drop downs?
Price: <input type="text" name="total" value="$0.00" /> (would show this without touching the drop down) Price: <input type="text" name="total" value="$15.00" /> (would show this if selecting s-l) Price: <input type="text" name="total" value="$17.00" /> (would show this if selecting xl-xxl)
Price: <input type="text" name="total" value="$0.00" /> (would show this without touching the drop down) Price: <input type="text" name="total" value="$19.00" /> (would show this if selecting s-l) Price: <input type="text" name="total" value="$21.00" /> (would show this if selecting xl-xxl)
I'm using the following code to remove an option from a select control based on a selection in a different select control and the option text in the select option that is being removed. The code works as I want it to, but I would prefer to use the option value for identifying the option to remove instead of using the option text. I've tried several different ways to do this, but can not find the proper syntax.
On page load it will evaluate this drop-down and repopulate it determined on their values. If there is an S in any of the values the drop-down will generate an option for 'S' like so.. <option value="s">S Option Text</option> And for the first code example in this post - the Javascript would be able to repopulate the drop-down with the following:
Is this possible with JQuery? I have the following code which I think Should do this, but it's not working :/These are two different functions which I've been testing, and the html element is supposed to create a dropdown list via some PHP which will have the option "Other" within it. Unfortunately, I have no idea exactly how to turn "Other" into a text box when the user clicks, and I've been spending a lot of time on this already.
I'm using Prototype and scriptaculous either, but here it is:
I have two select areas and scripts to transfer items between the two. Everything works great in FF, but in IE when an option gets removed it removes the entire select area. Has anyone ever seen something like this before?
According to [URL] intended way for jQuery to change dynamically the selected option of a dropdown select control isassigningthe desired text instead of the value. I found this way veryinconvenient (data structures usually deal with value codes, not value descriptions) and it seems to work only sometimes.
Trying different options I came out with this approach that seems to do the job so far:
function setSelect(pID,pSelectedValue) { $('#'+pID + ' option:selected').removeAttr('selected');
I have a form that uses jeditable to edit-in-place several fields and select boxes. Everything is working great. Now I need to a way to add a new option to the select list. What I would like is the user select "Add New..." from the select list that would pop-up a dialog window where several fields are filled in. When the form is saved the select field is updated with the new ID and description. I use Facebox for pop-up windows to display notes when the user clicks on a topic. I know Facebox can be used to display a form. It would be ideal to use this ability when creating a new option for the select box.
If I select "Other", a text box pops up and I can type in something and hit Add Item and it will add it to the drop down box, but the selection will stay at "Other". How do I make it select the item I just added?
The field to ask where do you hear about us? I have list of options in there but when the user select "others" i want to input filed popup and want user to filed in the info.
I have a problem with the following code, when run on IE6 the value for opt_sel is null but on Mozilla or konqueror the value is the option selected (as expected). I have tried several books on the matter(and google), but they seem to indicate that what i am trying to do should work.. Code:
I'm having two Slecet Option inputs. When both are chosen i want to compare the two make sure they ar ethe same. Its for confirmation purposes.How would i get the value of a selected option. (I don't know which option is chosen, I don't know the id of the option, i dont know the value of the option. I just now the id n name of the select)
<select name="whatever"> {Loop here to output many options} </select>
If one selects Merge, then i want another form displayed with input fileds etc, but if one select Nuke then a different form will be displayed and if one selects the last option then both above forms will be displayed. Can anyone show me a script (i.e. javascript) that does just that or care for a example?
I'm having some problems understanding the append() function. What I'd like to do is select an element using it's ID and add a row to the table with a HTML form element. The table is dynamically generated using a Django template ( form.as_table() ) so I'm not able to alter the original HTML markup too much.
