JQuery :: Using Select-chain, Getting Ajax Parser Error
Mar 24, 2011
I'm trying to incorporateRemy's select-chainplug-in into my code, and I'm having troubles. I hopesomeone can take a minute or two to help me. My situationseemed simple, only 2 levels, Products and Programs under each Product. I have the back-end working, so it returns the JSON list of Programswhena Product ID is passed. However, the plug-in keeps failing in the .ajax() function, tripping the error(). It reports a "parsererror", so I know I've messed up something. One wrinkle, I have multiples of the Product/Program pairs on my page, identified as "prod_x"/"prog_x", so I need to dynamically call them. Here is my code:
Is it possible with AJAX chained selects to have one select box on the page and then have another select box appear depending on the selection from the first select box?[URL]Is it possible to hide the 2nd box until the first one was acted upon?
My goal is to start with one box (call it Box 1). Box 2 will then appear. Depending on Box 2's input, Box 3 will appear with new choices. Depending on Box 3's input, Box 4 will appear....so on and so forth until the end goal is met.
When additional boxes appear, I do not want the previous boxes to disappear. If PHP can populate the select boxes, I don't see why it also couldn't insert the physical select box.
I'm trying to get a drop down menu that can be activated by clicking on the main menu button, but have problem with the 'id'. When i declare the id's as a number, it gives errors through the sgml parser of my html validator (you can't use numbers to declare id's). But when i change the id in a letter, eg 'a', the menu doesn't work...
I have a php function that list all of the countries from my database as a select option, then based on what the user selects for their country im using jquery to make an ajax call and get all of the states/regions for that country. This part works fine. I'm running into an issues, as when a user login's in to edit their profile, how would I make the select change based on what is in the databse.
I want to try and keep my syntax all encapsulted, but I'm not sure how to go about this.
So I add in some html to a div $('#slideStage').append("<div id='popupTiming' style='display:none'>" + formatTime(currentCuePoint.time) + ' minutes</div>') So the resulting html would be
I'm sure a Google search could answer this, but I don't know what it's called, haha. Dot sytax maybe?chain methodsHow do I write a function that can be called like this:
$('p').myFunction().val('the new value');
I played around, tried this:
function myFunction() { $(this).css({'color': 'red'}); }
I'm having problems with a Javascript 'Lookup' function.
Basically, I have a select menu 'Customer' which triggers a 3 JS functions, to populate 2 extra select menus.
Using IE Developer Tools, during debugging, I get this error: Expected ';' Error
This relates to either: eval(ajax_CustContact[index].response); OR eval(ajax_CostCentreContact[index].response); (it's a bit random, as sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't)
I have tried changing the 'custid' to 'custname' to check whether it was an integer causing the problem, but had the same problem.
I need a solid and reliable RSS parser for my web page. I saw jPage and it looked good except the RSS must be on the same domain - which seems to miss the point a bit.
I've checked Google and searched the jQuery forum and didn't see anything. Is there a way to do the following as I'd like to use the same chain multiple times with with different selectors:
var chain = .attr('value', 'Search Digital Collections').css('color', '#E0E0E0');
Now I want to apply the parent of tabContent a width, only if a condition is true. I do this, and works, but I don't consider this is a proper way: tabContent.css('width', '0') .css('opacity', '0') .filter(':eq(0)') .css('opacity', '1') .parent() .each(function() { if (/*condition is true*/) { $(this).width(aWidth + 'px'); } $(this).find('.one-tab') .addClass('active') .css('cursor', 'default'); }); Is there a better way instead of using each() which is actually made for loops? In this case there is only one element.
I created a dropdown menu using jquery. So when I hover over a button it slides down the menu. Now if I move the mouse out of the menu and bring it back in before it slides up(menu has a lot of items so there is enough time to bring the mouse back in on the menu)over the dropdown menu it starts a chain of slideDown() and slideUp() functions and it does not stop till I move the mouse of the menu or back on the button. Below is my jquery code:
I am using Tablesorter to work with a simple table, but have comeacross an interesting difference in how it works between browsers.One of my columns looks like this:
We have a list of items that each has a different quantity available. So I am going to create a multiple select menu, where they can select several different items. So, how can I make it that when they leave the field it sends all the different ones to the ajax program to build all the appropriate quantity forms?
This is my first post to the group, so please be gentle :) For some unknown (to me at least) reason I'm getting a syntax error in IE from the following code
I'm wondering if there's a built in function or a script already written to parse a CSS file. I can explain later if anyone is interested in why I want to know.
We're using jQuery ajax quite a bit without issue. Today, however, we ran into an issue where the results of a query are not displayed.fyi... the following works fine in firefox. scenario:
1. load ajax "$("#location").load( url... )" used to retrieve results
2. using fiddler, we can see the results are returned as expected
3. results not displayed. look at the updated dom in IE8 with dev tools and the results are not put into the display area Additional info...
a. using $("#location").load( url, function(data) { alert(data); }); the alert shows the results are returned via the function call as well.
b. the #location is an empty div.. e.g. <div id="location"></div>
c. if we put some text in the div, it will be removed, by the call, but the results still will not display
d. we have removed all .show(), .hide() options
e. if we remove the ajax call and just do a $("#location").text("blah blah blah..."); the results are displayed
f. we have tried both 1.3.2 and 1.4.a1 again, every variation works just fine in firefox.t
What I noticed is that my error callback is fired every time. MyService.asmx: [WebMethod] public FileInfo[] GetFileInfo(int Id){ Proxies.ServiceRef.ServiceClient c = new Proxies.ServiceRef.ServiceClient(); return c.GetFileInfo(Id).ToArray(); }
The Jquery code where I am getting error: $.ajax({ url: url, data: jsonData, type: "POST", contentType: _I.contentType, timeout: _I.timeout, dataType: "serviceproxy", // custom type to avoid double parse dataFilter: function (jsonString, type) { .....
When I debug using firebug the response is as follows. {"d":[{"__type":"Proxies.AFARServiceRef.AssignmentInfo","ExtensionData": {},"AssignDate":"/Date(1317748587667) /","AssignFileName":null,"ClaimId":"PA026195","ClaimantName":"Rachel Weiss","FirstContactDate":"/Date(1302678000000)/","FirstContactTime":{"Ticks":433800000000,"Days":0,"Hours":12, "Milliseconds":0,"Minutes":3,"Seconds":0, "TotalDays":0.50208333333333333, "TotalHours":12.049999999999999, "TotalMilliseconds":43380000, "TotalMinutes":723,"TotalSeconds":43380},"Id":5257, "InspectionDate":"/Date(1302246000000)/","StatusId":1,"SubmittedCount":5, "UploadedCount":9}]}
I've noticed that when I click the Stop button on the browser, or navigate to another page, jQuery.ajax calls the error event. You can see the problem live at: [URL]..
It seems that if I use jquery in https and do an ajax call out and then update the dom with the resulting html I get an HTTPS unsecure content warning. Now the content is all https and there are not http calls any where so I'm wondering if this has been seen before. I've dug very deep looking for the issus and if I take jquery out of the equation it doesn't give me an error. But I've standardized jquery as part of the site and don't want to mix straight old javascript with jquery, if I can avoid it.
