JQuery :: Hook Single Callback To Both Deferred.done And Deferred.fail?

Feb 8, 2011

Maybe I'm missing something obvious here but I'd like to know if there is a "proper" way to attach a single callback to both a deferred Object's done() AND fail() methods?What I really would like to be able to do is support both a catch-all callbackAND promises on the same function.

JQuery :: Functions Are Returning A Deferred/promise Object?

Nov 7, 2011

I've been going through the documentation for the deferred objects API, and one thing that's still not clear to me is : what jQuery functions are returning a deferred object?

The documentation seems to say that jQuery.ajax() and the animation functions like jQuery.fadeIn() does (what about jQuery UI effects?), but the pages for those functions say they return a jqXHR object and a plain jQuery object.

How To Pass Value To Object Data

Jun 14, 2010

I want to pass the value to my object id = "Parameters" How can I do that? I had tried the code as posted below but it couldn't work.
I'm using document.all.Parameters.data = tempParams[0]; to pass in the data to

<OBJECT id="Parameters" style="Z-INDEX: 200; LEFT: 0px; TOP: 0px; POSITION: ABSOLUTE;" type=application/pdf height=800
width=1060 VIEWASTEXT scroll=yes></OBJECT>

I also have tried document.getElementById("Parameters").data = tempParams[0]; but still doesn't work.The code attached as below.

JQuery :: Data Limit For $.ajax Calls?

Feb 27, 2010

I'm experiencing a weird problem when trying to do a $.ajax call. When I pass 5 variables, with either GET or POST, the script runs as I would like. However, when I use 6 or more variables, the script does not run. Does anyone know why this is?

Relevant code (stops1-5 are defined as JS variables earlier in my script, and the alerts are for testing)

$(".barcrawl-stop-id").each(function(){
alert("running ajax function");
$.ajax({
url: "/handlers/ajax/barcrawl_reorder.php",

[Code]....

So, the way it is now, it works fine (I get the first alert for each instance of .barcrawl-stop-id, and get an alert at the end with the returned data). However, when I add another variable to the data, like stop4: stop4, the script does not run (all I see is one alert with "running ajax function").

Javascript Object Function Calls

Mar 7, 2006

I am creating a JavaScript object which I want to use to respond to user input on a web page. The object will basically be made up of a constructor and then a selection of functions which will use the DOM to alter the appearance of the page according to the user's input. I am getting stuck because I want a form element that is being created by the object to have an 'onkeyup' event attached to it which will call another function from the same object.

Now, I understand how to attach the 'onkeyup' event to the input element I have created using the DOM. If I tell the event to call a normal function (alert() etc) then it does exactly that. What I am having trouble with is getting the event to call another function from the object that created the input box in the first place. (I don't even know if this is possible / a wise thing to do!). Code:

Asynchronus Calls And Callbacks To Object Orientated Code

Jul 20, 2005

This might be a bit tricky. I want to call a method of a class using the setTimeout code, ok, can do this like this:

var instance = this;
timerID = window.setTimeout( function() { instance.Method(); }, 1000);

Now I want to call a method a number of times from with the class and when they
have all finished I want a second method to be called, I don't want the methods
themselves to be altered, i.e. I want this to be generic.

Here was my idea:

var timerCounter = 0
function CallFunc(func, callbackFunc)
{
timerCounter--;
if(timerCounter == 0)
{
callbackFunc()
}
}

function DoAsyncRequest(func, callbackFunction)
{
timerCounter++;
return window.setTimeout( CallFunc(func, callbackFunction), 1);
}

You would call this using something like:

timerId = DoAsyncRequest(this.method(), this.method2());

How could I do this, tryed using eval to no avail. I just don't know the
language well enough yet.

JQuery :: FireFox Page Reload Bug Using For Deferred Load?

Jun 4, 2009

To enhance user experience on my site, I've moved a few page elements (well, the ads...) to the end of the page (in a hidden div) and when the page is loaded the content of such divs are copied to their appropriate location on the page. This makes the content load much faster and thus not delay the user.So what I did works perfectly with IE/Opera but th FireFox is causes the page to try and reload, which it never succeeds to and so we're stuck with a blank page. So yes, the problem is that there are document.write calls inside those divs which contain script but I cannot change it (google ads / ebay ads)I even tried to use setTimeout() to ensure the content is loaded (and can see that it is) but still when the move is done, the page tries to reload.

JQuery :: How To Pass Object In JSON That Is Not String

Feb 3, 2011

I'm a beginner in Jquery and I have a big doubt, follow at bellow the code to be better viewed: The method below is static and Static methods do not work with instance, For this reason I passed the 'nameLabel' that the typeis Label by parameter, however I need to catch the exception and show it to the user.

[WebMethod]
public static string RetornaNomeCliente(string idCliente,Label nomeLabel){
string nomeCliente = String.Empty;
try {
nomeCliente = Cliente.RetornaNomeCliente(idCliente);
} catch (Exception e) {
nomeLabel.Text = e.Message.ToString();
} return nomeCliente;
}

But I'm using Jquery and this method is used in a Ajax Request and I use the Json to pass the datas, how showed below:
var idCliente= $("#<%= txtIDCliente.ClientID %>").val();
var nomeLabel = $("#<%= lblMensagem.ClientID %>");
var poligonal = "{ idCliente: " + idCliente + ", + lblMensagem: " + nomeLabel + " }";
But the problem is that I need to pass in my Json the nomeLabel with Label, but always a problem happen, because the same is showed like 'indefined'. How to solve this situation?
