JQuery :: Using Click Function And Review

Oct 26, 2011

I actually got two questions.it's regarding the website URL...

1) I'm building up the content from the database using JSON. Currently for each entry I build up the HTML code via Jquery and append it to the div. Is this the best way to do this or can this be done better/more efficient?

2) in the generated content I have a link that triggers the 'show/hide' function of a div below (URL...). Currently it doesn't work within the generated content. At the moment when clicking the link, it should create and alert, but even that isn't working. Is it possible to have a JQuery trigger within JQuery generate content?

JQuery :: New Take On Form Validation, Code Review And Feedback?

Jun 2, 2009

I feel a bit guilty for posting this here as it may be considered as spam, so if you do think that please ignore/delete. For the last couple of days I've been working on a form validation plugin and I've taken a completely different approach (I think, that is) from what already exists. The result is a plugin with less than 300 lines of code that does absolutely no form validation at all. WTF you may very well ask, and I explain: the core of the plugin basically assigns/save 'rules' and callbacks on an object. One way to save/create a rule is when extending the plugin, i.e. adding validation rules, onerror/onsucces callbacks and the like. Another is

Rate And Review It Script

Mar 29, 2001

I am looking for a script that would enable users to rate and review products (ie rate it from 1-10 and leave comments about the product). The script must run on a NT server and be free. I know such a script must exist, but I have searched various script archives with no success. I have been considering hacking out my own using a flat file database, but I don't really have the time and don't want to re-invent the wheel.

Code Review For A Website

Mar 7, 2011

I have been developing JavaScript for websites on and off for about a year now, and have recently been working on a website project with a couple friends (the url). The project is about done and I think I'm ready to start telling everyone about it, but I thought I'd have some coders with more experience go through my code and suggest improvements that can no doubt be made. I've tested with the Error Console and run it through JSLint, so there shouldn't be too many worries there. It uses jQuery with no extensions. The code is fairly small so it shouldn't be too much of a hassle, only a couple hundred lines, nonetheless I won't post such a conglomeration here unless it is explicitly requested.

Click() Function Does Not Have Same Effect As Real Click (IE 6)

Jul 23, 2005

I'm trying to implement a dynamic menu using CSS/DHTML/JavaScript. The
menu bar is implemented as hyperlinks so I can use the :hover :active
etc. pseudo-styles.

When moving from one item to another on the menu bar I want to
simulate the user clicking on the menu bar item they've just moved
onto, so the adjacent menu drops down automatically.

So I have something like this:

function MenuBarItemMouseover(menuBarItem)
{
menuBarItem.click();
}

to simulate the user clicking on the adjacent menu.

However it seems the previous menu bar item stays in the 'active'
state and the item that has been moved onto remains in the 'hover'
state.

The css styles are defined in the order: link, visited, hover, active,
and in any case, it works fine if you actually do a mouse click on a
different menu bar item. It seems the programmatic click is not the
same.

Is there anyway of forcing the previous link to 'normal' and the new
link to 'active' using JavaScript? Or is there some other way of
simulating a mouse click?

I would like to know whether a jquery click function can be used in an"if" statement.The reason why I am asking, is because I haven't seenany examples of this being done on the web. I want to use thisapproach because currently Jquery keeps initiating two events from onemouse click, eventhough the css for each element is different.Ithink the best way to avoid this problem is to use flow control toexclude the other mouse click event. JQuery :: Pass More Than 1 Parameter To Click Function?

Jun 10, 2010

I currently have the following:

<a href="#" id='$dbase'>Link</a>

which passes the value of $dbase to my jQuery click function.

But I'd like to also pass a second parameter consisting of a page number. Can that be done using the click function or would I have to do it another way. I'm assuming it must be possible. I suppose i could always concatenate the two parameters, e.g. $dbase-$pagenum, pass that and then split it in the javascript but that seems a slightly inelegant way of doing it.

JQuery :: Click Function For Simple Slidetoggle

Oct 12, 2010

I am doing a simple slidetoggle with a click function. Meaning I am basically sliding a div (content) into nothing with another div (button) using a click event. This works all fine and dandy but now here is the problem.. I want to change the class of the div(button) so that I may show a different background image depending on the state of the open or closed content div.

Here is the code so far...
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.Button').click(function() {
$('.Content').slideToggle('normal');
if($(this).next().is(':hidden') == false) {
$(this).addClass('off');
alert ('You should see See More button.');
}});
Then obviously I have CSS that has the classes I need including an "on" class that I could not get to fire.

JQuery :: Replace .click With An Auto Function?

Aug 8, 2011

I have some jQuery which I used on a site a couple of years ago. It basically loads some content into a DIV, which can be rotated using a .click function.I'd like to use the same code again, and I have got it working, but instead of having to click a link with a specific ID, I'd like it to automatically run every 4 seconds.

Here is my code:

var $j = jQuery.noConflict();
$j(function(){
var offset = 5;

[code]....

and here is my HTML to trigger the function:

<div id="postContainer">... loading ...</div>
<a href="#" id="another">show another</a></span>

replace that .click function to run automatically every 4 seconds.
