I have managed to create a very basic form validation script that I can retrospectively add into current forms with the least effort.
As far as the validation goes I am sure that the script is not pretty, but it does work. However, I have failed to manage to get it to return the focus to the first field that errors.
My abortive attempts are not included in the attached script because I have tried and failed with many different attempts that I have confused myself. I would appreciate any advice that could point me in the right direction to place the focus in the first error field found. Code:
using js to force a specific anchor call to jump after the page completely loads. The reason I am doing this is because the page I am linking to with anchors takes a long time to load and a standard browser anchor link sometimes does not work 100%. With that said, I would now like to make the script I wrote universal to get ANY anchor param in the url and jump to that spot on the page. Right now it's coded to just look for "#anchor". I want to re-code it so it will look for "#" + "anyAnchorName".

We run a click and sales tracking solution for our advertisers and as such we are having a few issues with browser compatability for certian sites that are ont eh Magento platform. Essentially we are just trying to create an image call in javascript that uses a few pre-populated variables from the checkout process.
So teh issue we are having doesn't seem to be broser specific. We are trying to simplify the javascript call to ensure we have the highest possible chance of compatiablity. Obviously now with so many differnt browsers and also mobile devide connectivity this is making things even harder. We know that our javascript calls are failing as we've been monitoring our IIS logs and can see the image calls are being made with blank variables. There are 3 different elements to our checkout calls that maybe you guys have experience of with possible issues or fixes:
1. unescape function
2. onload event function for images
3. creating images dynamically
these are very basic elements of the javascript core but aout 5-10% of our calls are failing with blank variables being passed into the image call. So the questions is what elements of our call will be the possibel sources of failure?

I'm trying to implement a dynamic menu using CSS/DHTML/JavaScript. The
menu bar is implemented as hyperlinks so I can use the :hover :active
etc. pseudo-styles.
When moving from one item to another on the menu bar I want to
simulate the user clicking on the menu bar item they've just moved
onto, so the adjacent menu drops down automatically.
So I have something like this:
function MenuBarItemMouseover(menuBarItem)
{
menuBarItem.click();
}
to simulate the user clicking on the adjacent menu.
However it seems the previous menu bar item stays in the 'active'
state and the item that has been moved onto remains in the 'hover'
state.
The css styles are defined in the order: link, visited, hover, active,
and in any case, it works fine if you actually do a mouse click on a
different menu bar item. It seems the programmatic click is not the
same.
Is there anyway of forcing the previous link to 'normal' and the new
link to 'active' using JavaScript? Or is there some other way of
simulating a mouse click?
Given the following XML:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<links>
<link>
<title>jQuery</title>
[Code].....
But they would all open the same URL over and over. Keep in mind my real data has about 50 items.
I have a function that displays text when the text "more" is clicked. Except, the text is only displayed initially after clicking twice.
How can I make it respond immediately? The item is in a table, here is a section from the table:
HTML Code:
<head>
<link href="stylesheet.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"/>
<title>Absolute Websites | Prices</title>
<script type= "text/javascript" src="script.js">

Bit of a newb to jquery. I have got a jquery slider effect nestled in some tabs. Each tab has one slider in it. When the page initially loads it loads the effect in the first tab only. On clicking the second tab the function isn't called and remains displayed without the effect.

I would like to know whether a jquery click function can be used in an"if" statement.The reason why I am asking, is because I haven't seenany examples of this being done on the web. I want to use thisapproach because currently Jquery keeps initiating two events from onemouse click, eventhough the css for each element is different.Ithink the best way to avoid this problem is to use flow control toexclude the other mouse click event. If element A is clicked then

I've made some JQuery code to learn how it works and I saw a strange behaviour with toggle function, here are the code that I wrote:
html:
<div id="apDiv1">
<input type="button" name="gauche" id="gauche" class="bouton" value="Gauche" />

I actually got two questions.it's regarding the website URL...
1) I'm building up the content from the database using JSON. Currently for each entry I build up the HTML code via Jquery and append it to the div. Is this the best way to do this or can this be done better/more efficient?
2) in the generated content I have a link that triggers the 'show/hide' function of a div below (URL...). Currently it doesn't work within the generated content. At the moment when clicking the link, it should create and alert, but even that isn't working. Is it possible to have a JQuery trigger within JQuery generate content?
I would like to pass value to click function in JQuery. How to do that ?
I want to send the ID value of the HTML element to the click function when the element is clicked.
whats the syntax ?
I have created a function, function test [code]...
I want to bind this function for click event using $('#btnsave').bind("click",function(){}) in jquery
How can i do this?
I am having difficulty binding a popup to a text link.
The following code works:
CSS:
/* COPY LINK CSS */
#copylink {
position: absolute;
top: 170px;

I currently have the following:
<a href="#" id='$dbase'>Link</a>
which passes the value of $dbase to my jQuery click function.
But I'd like to also pass a second parameter consisting of a page number. Can that be done using the click function or would I have to do it another way. I'm assuming it must be possible. I suppose i could always concatenate the two parameters, e.g. $dbase-$pagenum, pass that and then split it in the javascript but that seems a slightly inelegant way of doing it.
I have an expandable menu (not an accordion), that needs to toggle div elements below it. If I put the click event on the h3 of the menu, it works fine but as soon as I put it on the link, it doesn't work.
JQUERY
$(document).ready(function(){
$(".expand").click(function(){
$(this).next("div").slideToggle("fast")

I'm working on a website and using jquery quite a lot.For a first level of coding, I'm using Chrome and everything works just fine.But I'm having a first bug when using Firefox.Indeed, I create a button with a click function and when I display my page on Firefox, the click doesn't fire any action like it does on Chrome.Here is the peace of code:HTML declaration of the button:
<
div
id

I am doing a simple slidetoggle with a click function. Meaning I am basically sliding a div (content) into nothing with another div (button) using a click event. This works all fine and dandy but now here is the problem.. I want to change the class of the div(button) so that I may show a different background image depending on the state of the open or closed content div.
Here is the code so far...
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.Button').click(function() {
$('.Content').slideToggle('normal');
if($(this).next().is(':hidden') == false) {
$(this).addClass('off');
alert ('You should see See More button.');
}});
Then obviously I have CSS that has the classes I need including an "on" class that I could not get to fire.
I'm trying to add a function to an event click from a checkbox. But the function is executed on the page load, not when i click on a checkbox...
Here is my code :
var tabTailles = {
"38092":{"id":38092,"qte":8,"produitsIds":[293649,293653,293655,293656]},
"38093":{"id":38093,"qte":20,"produitsIds":[293649,293653,293655,293656]}
}
[code]....
tabTailles is an array but not a js array. val is an object.
I want to include a number of boxes on a page that reveal content when clicked. I seem to have these working ok, although when one box is open, i have to click twice on another to get it to work.
You can view this in action here:[URL]... Is there a way i can stop this from happening?
I have a grid of items that when clicked lead to a new page. I would like to implement a function so that if a user clicks on an item and holds for at least 1000ms, a menu will be shown next to the item and they will not be taken to the next page.
However, all of my current attempts either lead to the menu not being shown, or it is shown and the user is redirected to the next page anyways.
Here's my current code:
jQuery(document).ready(function(){
var mousehold;
jQuery('.item').mousedown(function(){

This code after remove, repeat value removed. If not want repeat value removed, show a value norepeatvalue, what do I do?
$('span b').live('click', function () {
$('<p>' + $(this).parent().text().substr(1) + '</p>').appendTo('.list_name');
$(this).parent().remove();
});
$('.list_name p').live('click', function () {
$('<span><b>x</b>' + this.innerHTML + '</span>').insertBefore('#auto_box input');
$(this).remove();
}).live('mouseover', function () {
$('.highlight').removeClass('highlight');
$(this).addClass('highlight');
});
I have some jQuery which I used on a site a couple of years ago. It basically loads some content into a DIV, which can be rotated using a .click function.I'd like to use the same code again, and I have got it working, but instead of having to click a link with a specific ID, I'd like it to automatically run every 4 seconds.
Here is my code:
var $j = jQuery.noConflict();
$j(function(){
var offset = 5;
[code]....
and here is my HTML to trigger the function:
<div id="postContainer">... loading ...</div>
<a href="#" id="another">show another</a></span>
replace that .click function to run automatically every 4 seconds.
I am trying to display a hidden bookmarks list when the bookmarks category heading is clicked on. I have gotten as far as writing the script below so that once the heading is clicked, the list drops down and the list items fade in..
how to I make the list items fade out prior to the list collapsing again?
Here is what i have conjured up so far:
var $j = jQuery.noConflict();
//online bookmarks
$j(document).ready(function() {
$j('#online-links').click(function() {
