View 2 RepliesI am getting an error to a mysql_query() call: Access denied for user 'SYSTEM'@'localhost' (using password: NO)' in path 'C:PHPClassesMySQLDbClass.php' at line 1078 This is coming from using a XML HTTP Request object (AJAX) to send form data to the server requesting my DB records interface script page, ajaxRecordsInterface.php. In using PHP sessions, I have no problem going from a logged-in-select-activity PHP document to an activity controlled by a PHP document that does records interface. But apparently an XML HTTP Request object has a different session than a PHPdoc-2-PHPdoc session. Is that so?
Here is MORE DETAIL: I am building first a version of a web-based database interaction using MySQL that does not use page reloads, so that means I am using Ajax/XML HTTP request object/Javascript (later I build the version that does script-free page reloads to show db updates/refreshes). I have no problem with login whose first PHP document gets user information and presents it, as well as a menu of links to how to interact with the DB. One of the options is to add/edit/delete student records.
In the PHP document which is the DB records interface, I have a scrollable HTML table at the document top with one table row for each record. Below it is an empty form, whose fields get populated when the user clicking on a record in a table row. Note that all fields for the records in the table rows were delivered as a Javascript array with a maximum of 50 or a 100 contiguous records in the MySQL table. (More optimizations may be done later, such as creating a Javascript array as a "cache" of the last 20 or so selected records.) I don't have problems making mysql_query() calls in a series of PHP document requests. I call session_start() to get session variables, one of which is a serialized MySQLDatabase class object which I unserialize to get the object again. The problem is the XML HTTP Request to a PHP document designed to interact with it is a different PHP session from a page-to-page session.
I'm trying to load xml using ajax call and later query the xml using a input field, the results of which should populate into a div. I would be searching by site id or title in the xml.Right now, after the ajax call nothing happens.

What I have is a normal ASP web page wih javascript. The javascript
needs to call a payment gateway, but the only way to get to it is
https://paymentgateway/external.pl with parameters.
What is returned is a string containing several lines of information.
This information I need to formulate into my own page..
At present, I use document.location = https..... but of course this
displays the called page (above) in the browser screen with the
results.
Im sure this can be done, but how can I call this gateway webpage
without showing it (so the user would just see my please wait page)
and retrieve the data when it comes back (within 6 secs).
I am trying to load something in a tab using AJAX. However it will not work if the URL is using http, for example, [url], or [url].
I know the HTML and JS is fine as it will load files that do not have http, like the third list item in the example.
EXAMPLE:
I cannot understand why this is.
As the title implies, i need to make use ajax with GET method and with data in the http request body. I can do it with POST method but i don't know how to do it with GET. In php, it's easy...

Initially I (successfully) tested my project after deploying to the Apache server which is running in the localhost.
But, if I just open the page in a browser (without deploying to the server), the project works fine! How this is possible?
According to my understanding, if we send an AJAX request, which is really an HTTP request, which has to be received by an HTTP server and the response should come from the server.
I am using jquery.ajax() to make a POST call to web server which returns HTTP 201 response for successful creation of object at server. Since 201 is a success I expect the success function specified with jquery.ajax to execute but instead it executes the error function specified with jquery.ajax. Here is how I am using jquery.ajax call.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am doing xmlhttp ajax stuff. I am using a script called "SEXYALERTBOX". I am using it to allow the user to input a password. The textbox is called BoxPromptInput. I do not think its inside a <form> tag.
Here is the code:
function askForPass() {
Sexy.prompt('Please type the password in order to see the pictures/videos','' ,{ onComplete:
function(returnvalue) {
if(returnvalue) {
var xmlhttp = false;
var pageResponse = null;
try{xmlhttp = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP");}
catch (error){try {xmlhttp = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");} catch (error) {xmlhttp = false;}} .....
Any way to pass the value since I am sure the request.form would not work in this case since its not in a form.
I have an application running on a non-interactive kiosk that I need to keep updated with information that will be provided by a remote server. To do this, I've created an XMLHttpRequest/Microsoft.XMLHTTP object that checks the modified date in the header of a watched file that resides on a remote server.
This function runs on an interval, and if it detects a change in the modified date since the last check, it retrieves new information from the remote server.

Ok, I need to have a page where you hit an attack button and it displays your hitpoints after the battle, The problem is that I cannot get ajax to work with a php file if I query the database for the hitpoints.

Can anyone redirect to any online tutorials, articles, code of how to upload a file using HTTP PUT method and JavaScript or VBScript to a server running Apache 2.0 that uses CGI + PERL.
How to create configuration entries in httpd.conf for supporting HTTP PUT method.
How to code with AJAX to post uploaded file content to the server using PUT method ?
I've been reading a lot about Comet and I've been interested in implementing it. It doesn't sound that difficult, but I have yet to find concrete examples of what it is, so I don't know how to actually use it.
I've seen some examples where new ajax requests are made as soon as old ones are complet but this doesn't make any sense to me. It seems this method is a complete resource bandit.
For example, how do I open a long-lived HTTP request? If the request is long-lived, when does the callback get actually called - at the very end of the request (status == 200 and readyState == 4) or can I call it intermittently to download new data while my PHP script is in sleep()-ing?
I have managed to succesfully post the data to the php page... (i can see using firebug that it IS being sent) but i get a message Quote: Apache HTTP Server has encountered a problem and needs to close and the response is empty... what am i doing wrong?is possibly something to do with the space in the value of the options?

The general framework is a simple user login function. The user name is selected and a password entered as usual. The function grabs the element values and passes them to a php page that queries the database. An AJAX call returns the password to the function and then I want the innerHTML to be a choice of two web pages, depending on success or failure of validation. There are existing AJAX functions available on the internet but they are overly complicated for what I think should be a simple, quick to load function.
Where I am stuck is that the standard procedure to make an AJAX call is the browser window event. How do you make the call from within the function? I have tried creating two new variables, "success" and "again" to replace xmlhttp, but still stumble on the event to assign a value. I left the blank password protection (if statement) with that variable to demonstrate what I mean.
I've put in my code below, which is in development and successfully alters the innerHTML text depending on user input but I can't figure out how to insert the relevant php page. I have '// out' the testing bits, but left them for info. (I have tried full 'scripting' as the innerHTML, but it's messy.)
I'm making a little CMS, and I need to use AJAX to query the DB to see if an email is already registered. Here's my code so far:
The javascript:
Code:
<script>
function getEmail(){
var ajaxRequest;
try{
ajaxRequest = new XMLHttpRequest();
} .....
I'll test it by entering javascript:alert(getEmail()) in my browser, and it returns undefined. When I replace return 'valid/taken' to alert valid/taken, it will alert the values correctly, but for some reason it has to be entered twice (I have to hit enter twice in javascript:getEmail() for it to be correctly outputted). I'm relatively new to ajax and I think it might have something to do with the readyState not being correct.
I wrote the following code with Dreamweaver:
If I run it in Dreamweaver It works and the alert success is raised, but If I run this code into Safari or Chrome the Error alert is always raised.
My goal is to get some HTML content including some UI widgets and other stuff via an ajax call. To clarify my goal and the strange behavior, I attached some HTML files, that you can run for yourself. Open the index.html will show you some UI widgets, which are pulled from the ajax.html via ajax. When you scroll to the bottom you can see the same content inserted a second time. But this time, the widgets are not "rendered". It looks if the "button()" calls etc. are not executed.
The only difference is the way I insert the result of the ajax call. The first time I insert the hole content received by the ajax call, the second time I only insert the content of a special div. The goal in this is to get various chunks of content with one ajax request and replace "div#one" and "div#two" with different parts of my site. Which is not working. Is it generally okay to receive html content which has some script parts to be executed via ajax and what is wrong with my second approach?
I'm currently using the dialog functionality (modal form) from UI library to submit data to the database. All the validation checks have been running ok until one of the validation checks requires a ajax call to check if a username exist in the database. I'm fairly new to both javascript and jquery so this could be a fairly basic blunder. Initially, i thought it was an synchronicity problem, but I changed the $.ajax async option to true but still no joy, so maybe it something to do with scope etc?
Here's the code:
function checkIfUsername(){
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: ""+CI_ROOT+"index.php/admin/check_if_username",
data: ({username: username.val()}),
async: false,
dataType: "json",
success: function(data){
returnUsernameBool(username, data);
}});
}function returnUsernameBool(o, data){
if(data.bool == true){
o.addClass('ui-state-error');
updateTips("Your username must be unique");
alert('false'); //this works
return false; //still can't return bool
}else{
alert('true'); //this works
return true; //still can't return bool
}}
bValid = bValid && checkIfUsername(username);
alert(bValid); //still gives undefined

I am planning to use an AJAX call to a PHP script that accesses a REST servlet. My php script would be very simple; something like:
[Code]..
I'm an experienced programmer, but I'm fairly new to web development, so I am having trouble interpreting this error. What have I done wrong? Is this the proper way to call a PHP script with AJAX?
I have a page that creates one unordered list from the contents of another list. The second list is created from a database query and is hidden on the page. I have written a JQuery function shown below that does an AJAX call which causes the hidden list to be created and that is working perfectly. The problem is that when the code following the AJAX call is executed it doesn't see the hidden list. The alert message displays 0 the first time. clicking on the Load button a second time results in the first list being displayed. If I click on the Load button a third time, the previously loaded list is displayed; click on a fourth time and the new list is displayed.
In other words, it takes two cycles to display the correct list. I am at a loss as to what might be the problem. Other than this issue the code does what I need it to do.
