JQuery :: Make A Div Appear Upwards?
Dec 28, 2011
I'm pretty new to both javascript and jquery, but there are so many permutations its difficult to get my head around at the moment.
What I want to do is this.
I have a footer bar. It is already planted at the bottom of the screen so I don't need javascript to achieve this. When I hover on the bar I want it to slide upwards. The best way to describe it is a reverse of a drop down with a slide animation.

Having designed an AJAX shoutbox in ASP.NET, I'm facing two minor issues with it.The shoutbox is simple : 10 records loaded in a literal, a texfield, a send button and a scrollbar inside.When you scroll to the top of the shoutbox, it overlays a loading div and makes an AJAX call to fetch the ten previous records. Then hides the loading div.My problems are :- Any AJAX element (like the updatepanel containing my shoutbox for example) will display the overlaying div when triggered....and never hide it again. I'd like my overlay to be affected only by the scrollbar.When I scroll to the top, records are loaded but the scrollbar expands downwards. If I want to query more records, I need to scroll a little bit down and up again. Is it possible to get the scrollbar to expand upwards ?Code is below :
<script type="text/javascript">
var isMore = true;
$(document).ready(
[code]....

I have several classes named 'ratings_colored'. They all contain a number from 1 to 10. If the number is below 5.5, the number should become red. If not it should become green.
The code below works, but if the first .ratings_colored is higher than 5.5 it will make ALL the classes green. Even the numbers below 5.5! I tried using the 'this' but it didn't work either.
$(document).ready(function () {

I use this code snippet when I want to make a div a selectable hyperlink.
$('myDiv').click(function(){
window.location = $('this').attr("mylink.html") ;
});
It is simple and it works.But repeating it seems wasteful. I have a navigation menu that consists of an ordered list containing a group of list elements. This is a very common design pattern for navigation. Lets say that I want each list item to contain a div, and I want each div to be clickable.Yes, I know there is a usability issue there: relying on js to create hyperlinks is an ugly sin. But its easy enough to put an anchor element inside the "link div" for user agents without javascript. So here is our html:
<ol>
<li> <div> <a> </a> </div> </li>
<li> <div> <a> </a> </div> </li>
[code]....
So back to my problem:I want to make each div clickable. I could replicate my above js snippet for each one of the divs. But I know just enough about programming for that solution to seem kinda wrong.

I have to make many TextBoxes in a DIV readonly on page load based on a class assigned to them. The code that I have written is:
$("#tabcontentcontainer .GreyOuts").attr("readonly", "readonly");
and
$("#tabcontentcontainer .GreyOuts").attr("readonly", true);
This code works fine for IE8, IE9, and Chrome. But not for IE7. I have tried jQuery versions upto 1.6.1. Is there something wrong with jQuery in this case? Do I have to resort back to classical JavaScript for IE7, which you know, is a difficult task to do.

I'm just starting to learn JavaScript and have been playing around with jQuery. I'm trying to make a collapsible list. I've got part of it working and am having trouble getting the rest to work. I'm using a unordered list, if you click on Category 1 or Subcategory 1 it works exactly as I want them to but none of the others work. I sure I need some kind of array to get the others working, but I'm not sure where to start? This list is queried from a database so Categories, Subcategories, Items will vary, but this is the basic structure.
<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-1.3.2.min.js"></script>
<style type="text/css">
.list {
background-color:#FFFFFF;
color:#000000;
}.list ul{
padding:0;
margin:0;
list-style-type:none;
}.list li{
position:relative;
list-style-type:none;
width:300px;
} .....

$(this).css('background','url(../design/menubody_sprite.gif) -258px -0px').fadeIn('fast')
});
A friend of me told me to look around the .animate function but I found nothing...

I'm using the jquery ui tabs, and right now, if you click on the tab heading, the content just appears below right quick. I'm wondering if it's possible to make it ease in when a tab heading is clicked, like easeInOutCubic like in the JQueryUI development easing folder examples (a whole bunch of visual examples of vertical easing algorithms) ?

I can scroll this up and down a certain amount. however, I want to cut the display to only a small square of the large image, and hide the rest. Think of a slot machine, the wheel is spinning but you only see a small area in front of you. How do I achieve this in jquery?

I am a novice jQuery user and I was assigned a job to create an interactive map for a website. I want to make a simple nap, but I have no idea where to start. I am trying to make a simple map (as attached) so when a user comes to a homepage, the map would be visible. Then when the cursor is rolled over the map, different states appear in different color and when clicked, the user is taken to another page. Sounds simple, but I cannot find any useful info.I do not want anyone posting any codes, I want to try to do it myself.

I've made this tabbing system you can see here: linkMy only problem is that even once you select a tab, it still remains clickable, so it just reloads the same div over and over if you keep clicking it. I've tried using .unbind("click") but I can seem to make a tab clickable again once it's unselected.
