View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a form with a text box where users can enter a 10 digit code. The 10 digit code can be just numbers/letters (eg. 0123456789 or abcdefghij) or it can be a mixture (eg. 0a1b2c3d4e). What I would like is if the user enters a code which is a mixture of numbers and letters then the submit url goes to mixed.php If the user enters a code which just has letters or numbers then the submit url goes to sole.php change the url from selecting radio buttons.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSay I have a textbox in a form that I do not want the user to have the ability to put any spaces. This example is for someone's name converting to a short url so no matter what, their name is like JohnDoe and during the typing of it, the user cannot put a space between their name. Is this an HTML or Javascript thing to pretty much disable spacebar just for that field?

I have a recipients input textfield called 'recipient', which takes usernames separated by a comma. Next to this field I have a list of usernames wrapped in span tags with a title attribute holding the username. I'm using the following code to set the value of the textfield. However it only takes one username instead of adding to it. I also don't know how to add a comma automatically when a username gets clicked.
Code:
$(document).ready(function() {
$('span.contact').click(function() {
var title = $(this).attr('title');

To manipulate strings, but forexample when Iam programming an event with jquery and extract data from a textfield for example I can,t do this var msg=msg.subtring(0,5);
Or for example this does not work->
how can a trigger an event while someone is typing in a textfield, i tried this code:
var srch = $('#txt_search');
srch.change(function(e) {
alert(srch.val())
});
but i got alert when the focus come out of the textfield, what i want is everytime user press a key & textfield.value changed, event triggers.
Does anyone happen to know how I would go about populating a text field with x value when a specific image was clicked?
Scenario:
I have a div of 3 images. Each image represents a different color.
When you click an image.. I need a text field to be populated with the color name..
So if you clicked an image that looked like ivory.. textfield would then say ivory.
I created an html page and wrote javascript which uses jquery's hover() method. It converts a textfield into a span when mouse leaves the textfield and converts the span back to textfield when mouse enters the span. Also,I created a button, which when clicked executes a function that takes the val() of element with id='title' and shows it in an alert. I encountered two problems:
1. This works fine as long as the text field contains default text. But if I leave the textfield blank by default, the hover method can't detect the span and will not convert it to textfield. Is there some way I can create the textfield blank and yet make hover() work?
2. After I place mouse over the span and enters some value in the textfield, I move the mouse cursor onto the button and clicks it. At this moment, the span has a an id='title' and so $("#title").val() should get the entered text.
However ,the alert shows empty string of length=0. I tried this ,without moving the mouse cursor out of textfield and clicked the button using TAB-Enter.This time the alert shows the correct entered text. Why is this happening? Shouldn't the $("#title") be able to get the span element with id=title and .val() retrieve its text?
The html is
<html xmlns="[URL]"
xml:lang="en" lang="en">
<head>
...
<script type="text/javascript" src="../includes/jquery-1.4.2.js" </script>
<script type="text/javascript" src= "../includes/sample.js" </script> .....
I can't figure out why it dosen't work. I'd like to show/hide a <p> block depending on the value selected in the dropdown list:
$(document).ready(function(){
$('#report_rep_type').change(function(){
$('#report_rep_type').change(function(){
if($(this).text()!= 'Contigency Liabilities/Others')
$('#someElement').hide();
else
$('#someElement').show();
});
});
});
HTML code:
<form action="my action>
<fieldset>
<legend>Report details</legend>
<p>
<label for="report_rep_type">Report type</label><br />
<select id="report_rep_type" name="report[rep_type]"><option value="">Please select</option>
<option value="Scientific & Technical">Scientific & Technical</option>
<option value="Financial">Financial</option> .....
<p>
<button class="button " type="submit"><img alt="Tick" src="/images/silk/icons/tick.png?1245400388" /> Create</button>
</p>
</form>
Any tips on how to get this to work?
