I am trying to add some HTML into a <p> element by using an AJAX request that gets a txt file with my HTML in it. That code works fine but the problem I get is that I need to enter in the path to the file dynamically. I guess I could use PHP on the server for this but I am not sure how (im not too good with PHP yet, but it is installed on my server). C# would work too as I have .NET configured as well (but again I dont know it very well).[code]I would like to replace the "linkHere" with the file path attribute I am grabbing from an XML file.I am doing that like this:$(this).attr('filePath').substr(3).replace("\","/")+$ 9this).attr('label');this works fine to make the path correctly but I need a way to inject this into the HTML/txt file to replace the "linkHere".I have an <img>with an onclick event that calls a function I made to do all this.

I need to parse an HTML string received from an AJAX request. I wrote a function that places the HTML string into an unappended (not added) <div> , which opens the string up to the DOM hierarchy. However, when I try to access the elements of this <div> , I get an error in the console that says root.getElementById is not a function. This tells me that I can't access any of the child nodes.
Here is what my script looks like:
function parseHTML(html) {
var root = document.createElement("div");
root.innerHTML = html;
// The error console stops at this line

I worked with now in jQuery. Property however at present the following problem: [i]I provide a AJAX Request. the side is loaded, the parameters all conveyed and back receives I a complete HTML side. Now I would like to have only certain elements however from this side, like DIV, SPAN etc. How can I make with the AJAX Request return in such a way best, which I can select these elements thereby? Simply it would be unfortunately not functioned over the function $ (element), it even if I indicate the HTML Request as secondly parameter.[/i] Excused, for my bad English. ;-) Translatertool. There is unfortunately too many words, in order to describe my problem. ^^

I want to test if we could use jQuery for our mobile devices. Because of network-restrictions I need to run the jQuery Test Suite from my local Apache (the mobile device does not have any internet connection).
If I understood correctly I would have to grab the latest version from git and run a MAKE. Since I'm under XP that isn't possible that easy...
Is there a precompiled version available?

I'm trying to use a string within a load request. The code snippet is below:
var myUrl = $trigger.attr('href');
"#jqmTarget".load(myUrl +"#lightboximg")
This works, but doesn't load the selected div. When I enter the following: "#jqmTarget".load("lightbox.html #lightboximg")
It works fine, so I know the code is fine. I just can't crack it and
I'm sure it's really simple.

I use JQuery validation plugin to handle my forms, and I'm using the remote
option for some inputs, aside from the usual 'true/false' to detect if the field is valide or not, I need to get a php variable generated on the server, but I don't know how to do it

String returned from webform4.aspx is html formatted but jquery displayed it as plain text. Is that anyway to display it as html string ?

I have to following piece of code:
var myarray = new Array();
$.ajax({
url: 'http://distantserver.net/path/script',
dataType: "jsonp",
data: {
[Code]...
It's a cross-domain request. The first console.log() debug message prints the desired result, the second doesn't. It seems that the variable myarray has its scope limited to the success-callback. How do I get the data out of the success-callback?

So I have an odd round about fix that i'm using to get data from one server to another. First I have a classic asp file that does an http request to a different server (it's all on an intranet so I can't share the exact code) like this:
Set xml = Server.CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP")
xml.Open "GET", "https://www.externalurl.com/getData?value1=this&value2=that", False
xml.Send
Response.Write xml.responseText
Set xml = Nothing
This external URL returns an XML document that's written on the page. Pretty basic stuff.
Then I created another page with this jquery:

I'm using ajax like this (from the docs):
$.ajax({
url: 'ajax/test.php',
success: function(data) {
// do something with data
}
});
[Code]...
Does anyone have any idea how to get the html inside each #content or do I need to use a different approach altogether? What I basically want to do is to be able to print a lot of HTML in the file, and then in the "success" update different parts of the current page with parts from that HTML.

I was wondering if someone could help me out with the following.I'm developing a webshop CMS in which you can create categories. By using jquery's ajax method I'm making a POST request to a PHP script which then handles all the data supplied to it. This works good and all except for the fact that after the query is being executed my HTML doesn't get updated, at least not as well as I want it to.I understand that the common way of working here is to update HTML in the success callback of the ajax method. But the thing is that every category is being displayed as a list item with an id attribute, this id corresponds to the id the category has in the database.If$.ajax tells me that everything went down smoothly and my query has been executed then there's still no way for me to know which id this new category has been given so that I can update the HTML accordingly.
What would be a "smart" way to tackle this? The first thing that comes to my mind is simply calling another script which figures out the last inserted id on the db but that would mean doing an ajax request in the callback of another ajax request? That doesn't sound right to me..

Via ajax, data equals <h1>Special</h1>
Code JavaScript:
function searchReplaceAndDisplay(data) {
data.replace('<','<');
data.replace('>','>');
$('#modal').append(data);
}
$.get('getSpecialsHtml.aspx', searchReplaceAndDisplay);
Right now #modal displays <h1>Special</h1>, as plain text.
How can I get #modal to display 'Special' marked up as an h1 element instead of text?

I have a graph that i need to be dynamic in the sense that a user would click a checkbox and select which info will be displayed. I can do this using php, but i want a seamless transition done. My thoughts are AJAX SO basically i need a way to send a a request to a php page lets say graph.php with a variable set liek so: graph.php?id=1
Can someone point me in the right direction regarding this please, i presume i can use the onCheck on the check box and have a small function to handle the ajax request, Just to summerize:
Checkbox Clicked --> Request to php page with a variable set --> Return the php page.

I want to load an html div in a variable, modify it in another variable; and then change the document injecting the contents.
1. I load the html to be changed in a variable (code)
2. I modify an attribute of <param> using attr() and I put the result in a var (newcode)
3. I change the html in the doc
I've used the debugger, and all steps give the expected results, except of newcode.html(), which is a null string. Why?

I have this image gallery in which clients should be able to determine the order in which their images are shown. The sortable part works. Then I want to pass the new order to the next page called act_writeneworder.cfm (i am using coldfusion)
I just started with jQuery and it is driving me nuts:-) Each time I think I am having it well i am testing and the variable passed through gives an empty string.
My code:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(function() {
$( "#ulsortable" ).sortable();

I have an object whose name is mural. I have assigned the name mural to the title of an anchor element. When user clicks and element I want to store the title of the anchor in a variable called sprite. I then want to access that object whose name corresponds to the sprite variable string.
Here is my code:
HTML Code:
var mural= new Object();
mural.top='0px';
mural.left=-'510px';
var stamps= new Object();
stamps.top='0px';
stamps.left=-'1886px';
var sprite=$(this).attr('title');
$(".image-holder").css("background-position",'sprite.top, sprite.left');
It's not working because the the variable sprite is just a reference to $(this).attr('title'), how do I make it reference the object? Oh and I know that .cc jquery statement probably wont work, I'm not sure yet of the correct way to have two values that don't need quotations in as the second argument.

I spent the best part of yesterday trying to get my form to be sent to the server however for the life of me I cannot figure out the problem. I haven't used prototype before but here is my code that I think should work perfectly fine,The php script works perfectly, i've entered test data into it and it makes a connection to the third party server using curl and then requests information that I get back i.e. the routing id comes back. But I cannot test the data using the form as the request isn't working for some reason.

Two objects on an html page. An event on object 1 effects object 2
$(".video_rg").mouseover(function(event){
var myTriggerId = event.target.id;
var myTargetId = 'video_' + myTriggerId;
document.getElementById(myTargetId).src = 'images/test_object_2.gif'; // this works
// $('#myTargetId').src = 'images/test_object_2.gif'; // this does not
});
My assumption (we know about those) is that I am not passing the data to the $() function correctly, that it is reading '#myTargetId' as a string, and not a variable. I just really want the JQuery code that would do what the document.getElementById code is doing.

I need to get a some blocks of html that are contained in elements in a JSON object, remove some images and then add the updated blocks into cells in new table rows
in the JSON Object each html block is called 'htmlblock' within the html string, each img element that has to go has a class of 'imgThumb'
So far I'm here:
I get the data with $.getJSON - OK I work through the JSON object with $.each - OK I convert the text string of html to a DOM object with $.eventData=$(this.htmlblock) - OK I get rid of the images with $.eventData.remove('.imgThumb') - OK
After that I start running into problems
I have a bunch of elements from the JSON object that I have to add to the table as well - so the simplified version looks something like (#delTableBody is the tbody element that I'm adding to):
$.getJSON(eventURL, function(event){
$.each(event, function(){
$.eventData = $(this.htmlblock);
$.eventData.remove('.imgThumb');
