View 3 RepliesI would like to know what is the the easiest way to get if the user is browsing internet in fullscreen?I use following code:
var windowHeight = $(window).height(); // returns height of browser viewport
var documentHeight = $(document).height(); // returns height of HTML document
var windowWidth = $(window).width(); // returns width of browser viewport
[code]....
How would I create and IF .. ELSE statement using the following check: the LMB needs to be pushed down while the mouse moves up? I assume that mouseup() and mousemove() need to be used. but putting them in an IF conditional I am not sure about... not sure how to make the check to ensure both are true.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm developing a site that will use technologies like JavaScript and AJAX. I want the site to be functional for people that has older browsers or JavaScript turned off so for this I need to find out if the user's browser is supporting JavaScript and AJAX.
How can I check this in an easy and simple way? I.e the user enters my website with JavaScript turned off at the moment. And then he turns it on and reloads the page. I would like to catch that he has turned JavaScript on. The same goes with AJAX (although there is no off/on setting for AJAX).
I'm attempting to make a simple hover image gallery with a static large image which swaps with a thumb on hover. However, on hover what happens is the new image comes up as the large image and if I then hover over another thumb it replaces that thumb with the original bigpic image source.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was originally under the impression that css style properties could
be accessed/ listed since they exsisted as an array somewhere.
Is this just flat out wrong?
To illustrate - I guess I thought something like this could be used to
list available/ or set properties, or in this example the first
property. Is this just a fantasy? Or how does this work, at this level
or for document objects even?
//assuming <div id="menu"></div> exisists and hs styles applied....
document.write(document.getElementById('menu').sty le[0]);
//of course this is wrong...
I'm trying to add together some values held in an array to give a total score. But no matter what I do I get "NaN" instead of the answer. I thought that bunging a couple of parseFloats in there would fix it, but that hasn't worked either.

Is there a way to detect a held-down button while the mouse is moving?

I'm creating a script which causes the page to scroll when the mouse is held down within 1/3 of the page height of the window edge. An example can be found at [URL], and is working fine in Firefox, Safari and Chrome, but not in IE. I'm 90% certain this is due to the browser's non-handling of addEventListener, but I'm not sure how to fix this...I've tried the following so far:

Is it possible find a node backwards instead of forwards.
I would like to do (remember find_reverse does not exist)
I'm creating an AJAX user validation so that when a user types in a username, it checks it in the database to see if it exists. I want it to execute after the user finishes typing. I've tried using:
$("#username_field").keyup(function(){
which works, but I don't want a query executed every time the users presses a key. I was wondering if there was a better way to do it. Meaning I what the check to be preformed after the user finishes typing.
is it possible to track whether user is typing in the browser's address bar or aside google search box ( which appears in most of the browsers besides address bar)? if yes, I would like to know HOW? references are welcome.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have to come up with a user authenication page the logs the user in and also gives them access to do the right things. I have attached the code and the access file and have got started on a few things.I first need to create a login page with the fields username and password have that check the access database and then proceed it to a page to do the following depending on the user access. For The Login button to even be enabled the username and password must have a value in it. I have no idea how to do that

The .find() method does not seem to match on input fields by using a class. The ti This problem seems to be only visible on input fields. The following is a demonstration of the issue:
Example at [url]
I have read all posts about how to detect that url have changed to new
page and trigger the event handler then eg.
function aidLogout(evt) {
if(evt) {
/* maybe via analyse of evt object i can detect the close of the
browser window */
}
if(window.event) {
/* maybe via analyse of window.event object i can detect the close of
the browser window */
}
var i = new Image();
i.src = "aidlogout.asp?uid=1562&SessionID=ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOP"
} /* assuming that aidlogout.asp will return nothing or empty image */
window.unload = aidLogout;
/* or via
if(window.addEventListener) {
window.addEventListener("unload", aidLogout, false);
} else
if(window.attachEvent) {
window.attachEvent("unload", aidLogout);
}
PS i know about super Gecko onclose event which fires when browser
window is closed, but i could not find such method in IE.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a script for a selection of a specific item. When I select a item the image should change, so far so good. But when I select an other item, the image of the item I selected before should change back and there is where I find myself stuck. This is my script so far
var small_src = $(this).attr('src');
var new_small_src = small_src.substring(small_src.lastIndexOf('/'), small_src.lastIndexOf('.'));
$(this).attr('src', 'img' + new_small_src + '_selected.' + /[^.]+$/.exec(small_src));
This results in changing the image to a selected image, but I can't change it back when I select an other.
I have a hover fuction that returns a jquery object when it finds an anchor. What would be the test statement to see if the next ul has a class of 'secondary'? Then if this is true I would display it.
