I use $().load() to place an HTML snippet from the server into a dialog box which i then need to position relative to the size of the element which has just had the HTML loaded into it. When the main HTML page DOM is ready, I hide() the dialog box, and then use fadeIn() to show with various click() events. I have managed to position the dialog box in the centre of the screen given that there is no content loaded.
However, it seems that when I load the new content into the dialog box the new dimensions aren't taken into account untill the next time load() is called.
Is there a way to get the new dimensions of the element before the dialog is shown in order to position it centre screen?
Here is my code:
function showDialogBox(sender) {
var width = $(document).width();
var height = $(document).height();

I'm using the Google AJAX APIs, but some reason google.load works when run through normal javascript, but if I call the method from my jquery ready function it doesn't work. Code and output is below
page.html
<script type="text/javascript">
loadGoogleStuff();
function loaded() {
console.debug("in loaded function");
}
[Code]...
window.loadFirebugConsole is not a function If I comment out line 3 in code.js, the console debug runs okay, so the ready function is running okay. Even though there's a reference to Firebug, the same error occurs in Safari too. Nothing on the page loads.

I have a simple problem and cant seem to figure it out. I have a function in the body.load function that is supposed to highlight rows in my table when i mouse over them. When u refresh the page, the function works properly. When I dynamically add new rows to the table using ajax, I get no response.

In the examples for live() and delegate(), the selectors match at least one element that already exists. Will either of these commands work on elements for which there is no match at all on page load?
In my case, I want to bind a keyup event to the textareas that jeditable creates. I could probably create custom plug-in (to the plug-in :) to do the job, but I'd like to use live or delegate if they would work.

I'm having a problem where the serialize method isn't serializing form elements that are added to the DOM after the page load. Specifically, when the user clicks on a button some elements are displayed in a dialog that are generated from my server and returned via AJAX. I'm converting from Prototype and didn't run into this problem.

I'm trying to load some html content into a page via the ajax .load() method (wrapped within the $(document).ready() function).After I execute this, I'd like to bind all new span elements from the loaded content to a context menu plugin like this:
$("#selector").contextMenu({
menu: ''myMenu''
},
[code]....
Unfortunately since the span elements are coming from the ajax request,I don't think I can bind a normal event handler as per the plugin. [URL] how to use event bubbling in this situation.

I try to make something where you add elements, and can delete elements later by calling a simple function. I simplyfied it right here: It works only to add the paragraphs, but the delete function doesn't work. Tried already to debug with an alert message after each rule... but the problem is with this rule I guess:

I'm sure this is much simpler than I have been making it seem in my head so I'm giving up and asking Basically I have a html document being dynamically created by php. In the markup I create some divs (the number of which changes between pages) all of which belong to the same class (class="div") and have id's of the same format (id="div_90001" or "div_88926773"). What I want to do is perform a function on eachelementin the class and extract the number in the id and then perform a function with the number (AJAX) and then return the results to the div (probably some extra markup)
I can handle all the AJAX parts, the extracting of the id number etc... I just can't make a function that will work on all elements in a class. I fear I am not making much sense, I'll try again cos I don't think I'd understand what's above. I have some divs that belong to a class, I want to perform the same function on each of the elements in the class. How is this done?

Is it possible to load cluetip from a function, such as:
The reason I ask is that sometimes you don't want to bind to all elements if a user will only select 1 or 2 items, sometimes the cluetip might not even get activated at all so it seems a waste of resources binding cluetip on document.ready

I have a piece of code which has worked great in the past on this very site, but for some reason now, has stopped working. I put in the .ready function to try and fix it bc I understand that is a crucial peice of syntax for jquery. Still the code does not work. Everything in this code is not being executed, its like the code is being ignored.

If you would like details on the rest of the code, it can be found at: [url]

I use the load js function to load the navigation menu on most html websites I build. I use it on my websiteHowever with the release of IE 9 just recently, according to adobe browser labs the load function is not working. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Don't tell me IE 9 is not going to allow this to work. It works fine in IE 6, 7 and 8.I use a mac so can't test properly as my VMware is running vista which doesn't allow IE9 to be installed.

I've got this code to work the first time that the user changes the select option:
$('select.third, select.fourth').change(function(event){
var id = $(this).siblings('.hidden').text(),
token = $('#token').val();
param = $(this).hasClass('third') ? 'isSold' : 'isActive';
value = $(this).val();
$('div#allSheepDisplay').contents().remove().end().load(
'db-interaction/animals.php',{
action: 'update',
id: id,
token: token,
param: param,
value: value
}, function() {
$('select.third').filter(function(){return $(this).val() == '1'; }).css({backgroundColor: 'yellow'});
$('select.fourth').filter(function(){return $(this).val() == '0'; }).css({backgroundColor: 'red'});
}); });
Everything works as I expect - the POST request is made correctly, the database is updated and the display updates correctly. However, if I repeat the same action, selecting a different value, nothing happens until I refresh the page, at which time I can then make the change.
