I am new to jquery in anycase I have a db with information about the location of pictures, and I want to use that information to create a gallery with transition effects using the cycle plugin. Right now I can get the info that I need into the <img src=""/> using the code I have, the problem is it keeps giving empty values along with the actual values. To check what was happening I included a navigation bar for each picture and even though I should have 3 results in my query, I am getting 5 pages i.e. the extra ones are empty. I want to know if this problem is because of my php or something wrong I have done with the jquery.

Is it possible to use enable different transition effects for auto- advance versus the pager (that is, when a user clicks a pager item)? I'd like very much to use "fade" as images auto-advance without user input, but use a more advanced easing effect if the user clicks an item in the pager.

Basically, what I want to achieve is kind if a lightbox like transition effect... You know, the images wraper scales itself based on the current image width and height and scales itself again when you go to next or prev image.
Ok I have 2 questions:
1) I can see in the source of Cycle, at the end there is:
$.fn.cycle.transitions = { ... } and inside there is the fade transition set up. Do I need to create my new transition here?

I have yet to be able to do this successfully. I am using the Cycle Plugin to cycle through a series of images and corresponding caption. To show the images, I use:

Problem: The captions do not effectively cycle. What appears is the first caption from php the_excerpt but it does not change to the next php the_excerpt text. Can I solve this problem so I get the text from php the_excerpt to correspond to each image??
I'm trying to make a customCycletransition. I want the slide to scroll left or right and simultaneously fade in or out to be revealed or disappear. To handle both directions in one transition I'm basing it on the built-in scrollHorz transition, which looks like

This makes the slide that slides out fade as expected, but the slide that slides in doesn't fade. It is suddenly made visible before sliding in. So it ignores the opacity that I set on line 9.
In IE8, Cycle appears to be applying styling _after_ the transition, and it produces a weird visual effect.

I am having an issue with pausing the cycle from links within the cycle. I have set up a cycle that contains a html contentent including a 'video playlist'. This is a javascript based list that updates a flash video player with a new video inside the cycle. The videos are loading fine, but for some reason when i call the cycle 'pause', it dosent work? i have testing the $('#feature').cycle('pause'); from a link outside the cycle and that seems to be working, but it seems to be from the links inside the cycle content. here is the code i am using (i have made a custom crossfade transition)

Click "other information" in the left, first it's work good. But when I refresh and click "other information" again, I got javascript error: unknown exception.
I define a cycle in document.ready as per usual. In my cycle I have different sets of images that i want to cycle through and only want certain ones to cycle as selected using the slideExpr option.
Is there a way to change this option from:
SlideExpr: 'a'
To:
SlideExpr: 'b'
Another alternative i've considered is to make a cycle of cycles.
I've worked though a lot of issues trying to get the jQuery cycle plugin working in a relatively complex situation but have hit yet another wall.
Basically, I'm trying to get the jQuery Cycle plugin to cycle through entire divs, each one of which contains yet another slider platform built in jQuery. The first div always displays exactly as it should but when I click to transition, the elements within the second div appear stacked instead of side by side on the slider as they should. I've tried modifying the CSS in every way I can think of to prevent this, but so far, no dice.
I'm not sure whether its an element of the CSS for the second slider platform (wp e-commerce product slider) or one of the two platforms themselves. One thing I did notice was that one of the inner slider divs "gallery_slider" is automatically being set to 90px wide which is way too thin, but I can't seem to figure out how to override this if that is actually the problem.

I'm fairly new to Javascript. I am modding a script for an Event Calendar (view), and am running into a problem in IE.
What I want to do is, when the user clicks on a date that has an event attached to it, the event information is displayed in a div below the calendar. I've used a switch() statement, and have gotten it to work the way I want in Firefox, but IE gives me an error. code...

I'm using a Jquery plugin called coin slider as a slider for my website. However, I do not like the transitions that are available in this plugin as they're kinda cheesy. I was wondering how I would go about using a different jquery transition such as a simple fade? I'm kinda stuck with coin slider as this is used on a wordpress site and I don't have the time to customize any other jquery slider to work with wordpress and dynamically pull the latest articles etc.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is not, I think, a DOM question (but it might be a DUMB question!): I've some code that sends a new string to innerHTML property (in IE) or does a element.document.write (in Netscape).
If the string I'm sending is this:
<b> some string </b>
then the code works fine in both Netscape and IE. If I change the <b> to something else, like <i>, then that works as well.
BUT: if I change it to <a> (whether or not I give the anchor any parameters) then IE complains about "Unknown runtime error". Even the anchor code works fine in Netscape.
I've not tried to systematically find out every possible HTML element that does or doesn't work. I could post all the code here, but it seems to me that sincer my code works fine with most content, there must be something "special" about sending an anchor tag through innerHTML for IE...
I have thoroughly researched this out and I was able to see many examples of this error, however the scenarios were not similar enough to my example and although I learned that this error is caused by trying to place a block level element into an inline element, I am not able to fix it myself.
It may not be all difficult to fix, but I am new to this and just learning so for me it's rather frustrating at the moment. This script does work in Firefox. code...
