JQuery :: Controlling UI Tabs From An External URL?
Jul 5, 2010
Does anyone know if it is possible to control UI tabs from an external URL, is this possible?
For example, right now, the ui-tabs-nav list of anchors correspond to the divs automatically. I would like to make the tabs' navigation controllable from a separate draggable modal or popup window so I can drag it to a second monitor and use the main screen on GoToMeeting, to switch tab panels almost like Powerpoint (but more useful.) In advance I want to preempt suggestions that I do something different entirely, like simply make the browser window span two monitors, etc. Easy idea but doesn't work; I've tried it.
I'm having issues with jquery and the tabs I'm using. My tabs work but... I want some more functions and that seems to be a big problem for a Javascript and jquery newby.
I really don't know if this is correct but it works! What doesn't work is the active class. If you use one of the buttons in the first tab you go to the right tab but the tab itself has no class called active and that ruins the style.
2) I also have one other question: lets say that all the above is my second page and I have my frontpage in which I also have buttons. I want somebody to use the button and end up in the third tab of page 2. My link is something like
Code: page2.html#tab3
I read that using this should lead you the third tab but it's not working for me. You go to the first tab of page 2 instead.
I've been reading a LOT! Jquery for dummies, I googled, read the forum and other forums. I posted on a Dutch forum but no answer. I've added a lot of different code but it doesn't work.
I have an index.html that sets up 3 Frames. They are called FrameTop, FrameA and FrameB. See pic below. In FrameTop the user can type in a url into a textbox with id="urlINPUT". When user clicks LOADA it loads that url into FrameA. User can then browse web in FrameA, clicking links etc and going to new pages. The second button LOADB is designed to determine the current location/url of the page displayed in FrameA and load that into FrameB. So far when I write the javascript in FrameTop LOADA works but LOADB loads the FrameTop into FrameB! [error!]
I have a set of jqueryui tabs that, when clicked, load in their content dynamically. It works great, except that one of the pages uses a jquery plugin itself. This results in two issues:
- The main page that holds the tabs throws an error when loaded because there is js that refers to elements that haven't loaded yet (those elements are in the external file that contains the code that relies on the plugin).
- If I embed the js that triggers the plugin functionality into the external file, it is outside of the document.ready function from the main page and therefore isn't usable.Basically I am looking for a technique that allows me to ajax load an external html file into the DOM while not crapping out the main page itself because JS that is already there is expecting HTML which is not yet there.
I have nested tabs in jquery tabs which are pretty simple to do if we want static jquery tabsbut what if we want nested tabs that the remote page should decide what would be the tabs.or in other words i want nested tabs in a remote page (or ajaxified) For example i m calling this page(remote page) through tabs
I am using jQuery tabs and when I have very long content within the tabs, my browsers scroll bar reflects the content in the tab with the most content.
Example, "Tab 1" & "Tab 3" has a very long scroll bar, even though it has no content (because of Tab 2) and you can scroll down through the empty space
[URL]
Is there a way I can hide the content in Tab 2 so that my browsers scroll bar displays correctly in relation to the content in the active tab?
I'm trying to achieve this: when I click on the "Zgodovina_Prikaz" div, "Zgodovina_Vsebina" div should appear, which is inside "Zgodovina_Prikazj" div.
Here's the code that works now, but I have to add the "Zgodovina_Prikaz" exactly before "Zgodovina_Vsebina" for it to work.
nor does assigning a var to #video or any other trick. Im trying to get the video to play when another element is clicked so i cant use 'this' selector.
I am trying to reload the contents of a div asynchronously using jquery. It works fine if the link/button to do so is outside of the div I am reloading, but I need the button to be inside the div I am reloading and it does not work if I do it from there. I have thought about overlaying divs but I need the buttons to be very exactly positioned as its a graphical representation of a map and recoding the way the buttons are placed would not only annoy me but be very difficult.
You see its an isometric view of a square, and the buttons need to be placed right along the edges of the 'diamond' therefore always coming inside or on top of the div that contains the map view. So, is what I am trying to do impossible or might I just be going about it the wrong way ? If it is the latter then I will post some code.
I'm having trouble figuring out why content isn't showing up on the 2nd and 3rd tabs of a tabbed content section embedded on a page. The content shows fine for the first tab but not at all for 2 and 3.
Page of tabbed content is [URL].. It's an OsCommerce site using STS Templates for the pages. Here's the code:
I've got two sections of my page that I want to remain in sync as they cycle. I think I'm 95% of the way there, but I just can't quite get it to work. The #slideshow cycle works perfectly, as does the pager, but the #descriptions cycle behaves oddly. It hasn't been completely consistent, but usually it'll cycle after the 2nd slide, then never cycle again. This is the case whether or not I click the pager to #2 then back to #1 or if I just let it cycle.
As someone who has a web site, there is this popup (not my own) that comes up that I can't make go away when others view the page. Is there anyway, at least, to make sure that the parent window supersedes and is the top lawyer vs. this smaller pop-up using javascript?
Currently I'm facing a crisis wherein I need to find a way to control an embedded pdf with javascript, in particular all I need is the search functionality in the pdf document. So basically, some pseudo-code:
I have a few checkboxes in a form. Some of them work independently, but some make the others go on and off. Specifically the lower ones are controlling the upper ones.
I want to control where my visitors are coming fromSo not visiting from google or their homepage etc etc. i want them to enter the site from one specific site.
I'm trying to control a popup window from two different pages in my main window but having troubles.
My first page (bigpage1.asp) opens a popup window called 'PopCreate'. This popup window opens a frameset with two frames; 'TopFrame' and 'BottomFrame'. While 'BottomFrame' is processing some information, the top frame's page (top1.asp) refreshes to page 2 (top2.asp) after 3 seconds (using meta refresh). On page 2 (top2.asp), I want the entire popup window to close. I'm having troubles with this.
Alternatively, when the first page (bigpage1.asp) in my main window refreshes to the main second page (bigpage2.asp), the second page (bigpage2.asp) could close the popup window (PopCreate).
I want control a hardware device using a Web browser. I created a page which has a form containing all necessary INPUTs. By clicking a button, all current settings are sent to the server side (using POST or GET) so that the server can interact with the hardware, which is under the server's control.
Now, in some cases, I want to update the INPUT (w/ readonly) with the data from the hardware, such as a status value. Most primitive approach is creating a new page with new value to the INPUT, where I want to show the value.
But that is not quite efficient as the page appearance won't change except the contents of the INPUT.
As Javascript can make any change to the HTML page (at client's side) that is currently being displayed, it is more straight forward if the server can send a set of Javascript commands to the web server so that it can just update the display contents rather than refreshing everything.
I thought such scheme was already available, but so far, I don't see anything usable.
The Web server is not a commercial one but a custom Web server (written in Python) so that I want to keep the scheme as simple as possible. I checked AJAX but I'm not sure I can use AJAX in my application.
I want to call a JS function when Enter is pressed inside the form, and when the submit button is clicked I want to submit the form. Any simple way for doing this?
I have one page with<input id="calendar" name="calendar" value="" /> <a href="open popup">...</a>The popup opens page with calendar days. Every day is<a href="javascript: setDate('2009-02-26')">26</a>What to insert in the setDate() function to return the selected date to "calendar" input field, wich is in the other (main window), not in the popup?
I am using a Toggle function right now that does a getElementByID check. I have a table dynamically being built by ColdFusion that shows a bunch of time entries for a support ticket. Each time entry has 3 rows that I only want to show if the first row is clicked. Right now it only displays the first of the three.
Is it possible to have a javascript read elements from one browser tab from another? What I want to do is have a simple script that refreshes a page that I don't host every second or so and if the text on it changes from a preset string then to stop refreshing. So I have one tab open running the JS that I host which is pressing refresh repeatedly on the other tab and if that changes then it stops refreshing.
I've tried to think of a way to do this server-side (PHP) but couldn't think of one. I could make a script that reads the remote page repeatedly and if it changes then loads it, but to load it the remote page would refresh and then would probably lose the string I am after.
Even if just to say "nah, not possible" or something about XSS that I don't really understand...!
