I have 4 images on a page and when someone clicks on one of them I open a
secondary window and write a few lines to it describing the image.
If they don't close that secondary window however, and click on another of
these 4 images, my write commands print further down on that secondary
window.
I was reading through an old javascript book that talks about the
win1.document.clear(); method, but information on the Internet tells me that
this is now obsolete, or was just working on Netscape.
So then I decided to close the secondary window before re-opening it. But if
the user _did_ close the secondary window, I get an error saying that the
window I'm trying to close is already closed (or doesn't exist to be exact)!
Is there a way to clear the document in a window that I opened and wrote to?
Or is there a way to detect if win1 exists or not? If it exists, I would
close it. If it didn't exist, I would just re-open a new one.

I have a couple of radio buttons that hide and reveal DIV tags. Here is what I'm trying to do:
1) radioBTN1 is clicked it reveals DIV1 with multiple text boxes in it
2) radioBTN2 is clicked it reveals DIV2 below DIV1 with multiple text boxes in it
3) the user fills in the text boxes in the DIV2
4) user changes mind and clicks radioBTN1 again to hide DIV2
5) when DIV2 is hidden it resets and clears all previous information
IS this possible to do with javascript? Code:

Consider the following code:
<html>
<head>
<script src="jquery-1.3.2.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
function DocLoadup(HTMLName,DestDiv)
{
$(document).ready(function(){$("div#" + DestDiv).load(HTMLName);});
}
[Code]...
All seems straightforward enough; and all works well without hitting the error console on FireFox However, I am concerned that, due to my newness in using the toolbox, I've missed something here. In particular, is there a need to explicitly clear "div1" in DocLoadup BEFORE loading the div with subsequent content? Can anyone see anything else in my humble DocLoadup function which would pose a compatibility/functional problem somewhere (for the record, I'm using this to load a page with js in/linked to it)?

I have a search form and added the "Clear All" Button functionality...but it clears the last part of the search form display preferences....how do I only clear the checkboxes at the top of the form only and not at the bottom of the form between the <DIV> tags? I have attached a copy of the JSP page.

After a user successfully logs in, I'm hidng the login div, and displaying the 'loggedin' div. However, if someone clicks on logout, the username and password fields still have the login credentials in them. So, I need to clear those text boxes, along with the 'remember me' checkbox.
Here is my code:
I've tried single quotes, double quotes and other variations. Nothing is working.
However, that 'alert' does show the value in the username box.
Here is the code for the login, and loggedin divs and forms:
Just a noobish question here, is it ok to assign the same id, name, and class to each form object as long as they are unique per form object?
I.E. - id="signout" name="signout" class="signout"

I wrote something like:
var table=Array();
$.post("script.php", {arg1: a}, function(xml) {
$(xml).find("tagname").each(function() {
table[table.length]=$(this);
});
});
The code works OK in Firefox and Google Chrome, but it fails in Konqueror (khtml) or IE 8.0: the resulting array is empty although the xml read by Ajax call is OK. I tried also with "$("tagname", xml).each()" - same result.

I am very new to Jquery so sorry for the simple question. At the moment I am trying to create a form that posts to a cgi script then returns the results in a div on the page. This is working fine. The problem is that when the results are shown and I go to submit another query the next set of results appear under the previous set, and so on. I would like to remove all previous results as soon as an new search is submitted.While I can get this to work with the code below it willbrieflyshow all the previous results until the query iscomplete.

I have a form that is pretty large, so to break it up I hide certain fields unless the information is required.
The problem is this. Lets say that I select that I a have a dog, put in some information in the newly shown fields, and then decide I don't want to say that I have a dog. If I select no to the dog question (the radio button that shows or hides the fields) the information I entered is still there. I need the information in those fields to be cleared when the fields are hidden.
this is the structure of my current HTMl [code]...
If the person says the have a dog, then all fields with class .dog_hidden will be shown, otherwise they are hidden. How can I select all form field types contained within a div of class="dog_hidden" and clear there value (either reset or set to an empty string " ") .
The goal is that every time the fields are hidden they need to be cleared or zeroed. Its important that this information never get put into the database (all fields with a value will be entered).

It seems using the JQuery .val() function for FILE inputs doesn't work correctly in IE. That is, I can't change the value (file name). I'm trying to clear it, using .val(''). This works in Firefox but not IE.

Anybody know why this doesn't work in IE8 with jQuery version 1.2.6? It works in the latest jQuery version but I can't move to it yet because of some other issues. I'm trying to clear all the textboxes in a table row but only the 1st textbox gets cleared in IE8.
$('#Row_1 input[type=text]').each(function() {
$(this).val('');
});

I'm trying to use it to load in an XML file and output some data. I followed a tutorial on it but my XML file isn't loading.[code]Now my thinking is that when the document loads, it alerts me that the jQuery is running, and it does this. I had hoped that after closing that alert, another one would show saying that the XML file has loaded - This would ensure that the function 'parseXML' has been called, but it does not return an alert or populate my#xml_addressbook div.My index page is at the root, and both my XML file and the javascript file are in a folder, as shown below.[code]

I'm building an application with a c#.net server and a good bit of jquery on the front end. I'm having trouble getting/parsing data from c#. In the C#, I am doing a db call to pull the information for all users, and putting it into xml format:
string xml = "<?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8' ?>";
xml += "<Users>";
while (res.Read())
{
[Code].....
When I run the application, I'm getting the 'in AjaxSucceeded [object XMLDocument]' alert, but I cannot get inside of the 'each' loop.

The following example works great in Firefox, and Chrome but fails miserably in IE (6,7,8). I'm running JQuery 1.3.2 if it makes a difference:
$('resp',"<root><resp>value</resp></root>").text();
That evaluates to "value" in everything except IE.
