JQuery :: Replace Form Select Of Large List Of Users?
Mar 27, 2011I've been told that jQuery can do this.
Simple form which includes a drop down list of users obtained from a database which is displayed using a form select entry with options for each entry. problem is, the list can be quite long, upwards of several hundred.
In PHP, I added a filter box (text box) which the visitor can enter in a substring that is then used to obtain and display only matching entries. Works great, but it needs to reload the page to do its thing.
I've been told that jQuery can be used to do the same thing without having to reload the whole page.
The filter box would be used to call an existing PHP script which obtains the names based on the filtered string. I can change this script to output the data in any format necessary including raw format to full option formatted strings.
how to set this up so that it gets called and replaces the current option content.

Jquery :: Add Simple String Replace To Change Each Space
Nov 14, 2011I have an input box with a 'did you mean' box that pops up under it, and it pulls it's results from another php page, however when a term with a space in it, such as "I am" vs. "Im" is entered, it stops working. This is the code I'm using to pull the results. So I made a added a simple string replace to change each space into '+';
search = $('#search').val().replace(' ','+');
search.keyup(function() {
results.load('results.php?q=' + search);
});
But for some reason it is only changing the first space into a '+'; so for example: "Hello how are you" = "Hello+how are you". But I need it to change to "Hello+how+are+you";

It's currently under [url] with the CSS at [url] and the relevant jQuery file at [url] If you're using Firefox or Chrome you'll see that upon clicking the tabs, the image and text all changes. However in Internet Explorer the text doesn't change, it merely adds onto itself (This will be a lot clearer if you check it out on the site.)

Replace / Change Links Within Iframes?
Jul 2, 2010I've got an iframe on my page that displays my affiliate's webpages (located on their domain).
Two concerns: First, all links within the iframe reveal their domain name in the status bar and in the page source, i.e. <a href="affiliate.com/buy.htm">.
Second, the links in the iframe have target="_blank" which opens new tabs/windows, also exposing their domain to my customers.
Would it be possible to replace all instances of "affiliate.com" inside the iframe to "mysite.com"; whereas, "mysite.com" will be a proxy forwarding requests to "affiliate.com"? Keep in mind that these elements do not have ID or Class.

Change 2nd Select Values Based On 1st Select?
May 4, 2010I am working on a class registration system that requires students to register for a main class (101, 102 or 103). The student is supposed to select one main course as well as provide a second choice in case the first is not available. I have two dropdown select fields to capture data
1) Choice -1: 101 / 102 / 103 ( Student needs to select one - Reading the classID from classes table)
2) Choice -2: 101 / 102 / 103 ( If student selects 101 in Choice-1 then the only classes available under Choice-2 should be 102 or 103).
How can I accomplish the above? Further to this there are two fields on the form where I would like to auto populate based on what they have selected in Choice-1 and Choice-2.
For Example:
If a parent selects choice1: 101 the child Choice1 field should autopopulate with 100.
If a parent selects Choice2: 201 the child Choice2 field should autopopulate with 200

Feb 26, 2010I'm having some trouble with what seems to be a fairly simple issue: I have a <select> field with a few options inside of it. The idea is that a user can select an option in this dropdown and, dependent on what they choose, the output in another div with change.

So, this JQuery only works if the option is preselected (if I select and reload the page). I thought I was on the right track, but I just can't get it working as I intended. Jan 28, 2011I have a two level dependent select function, when level 1 changed, level 2 will change content with level 1, level 2 only change when level 1 "changed", if I use javascript to change the level1 value, level 2 won't change,for exaplme:

May 14, 2009I have a wee bit of code that handles a select list change to load some content via AJAX. In IE 7 & 8 (works a treat in 6!), clicking on the select list triggers the pop-up blocker thingy. My code certainly does not open a new window or anything like that:

adminNavSetup() is the function this block of code resides in.However, commenting that out has no effect. Note that the select list doesn't even open; a click is all it takes. Also, no request is made to the server.why the pop-up defense would be triggered like that?
