JQuery :: .animate() - Callback Function Executing Before Animation Is Complete?

Jul 27, 2010

I have a slogan that is supposed be animated so that one part slides onto the screen, followed by the other part. My understanding of the 'callback function' parameter on the .animate() function is that it's not supposed to execute until the animation is finished. The trouble is, the two functions seem to be executing at the same time (that is, the two parts of the slogan appear on the screen at the same time.) Here is my code:

$(document).ready(function() {
// hide slogan text $('#slogan_1').css('left','270px');
$('#slogan_2').css('top','75px');});

JQuery :: Callback Function Required To Make Ajax Call

Jul 15, 2010

On a project I got stuck on this "problem". When you make a json (ajax) call. You also need a callback function. Which means I have to call the next $.getJSON within that callback function to read the next portion of data. In my opinion this is not very readable code...What I want is a nice and readable piece of code. Where you could just write it like this:
var data1 = $.getJSON(..);
var data2 =$.getJSON(..);
I've found a solution here: [URL] (explains my problem perfectly). But it's not compatible with the getJSON story. Is there already a possibility to do this with the jquery library?

JQuery :: Callback Executing Twice After Animate() In 1.6.3?

$('html,body').animate({

The click in the callback function was executed twice. Version 1.6.3.

JQuery :: Callback Firing At Beginning Of Animate Instead Of End

JQuery :: Animate Callback Scope For Infinite Loop?

Jun 7, 2009

I'm trying to create an endless animation similar to a screen saver, here an image floats around the screen, fading in and out. I would like to stay out of the global namespace, so I'd like to use the callback to animate() rather than getTimeout(), which seems to operate only on functions in the global namespace. Please correct me if I'm wrong about that. But I'm having trouble maintaining the scope I want for the callback I want "this" to refer to my Animation object, not the HTML element. I understand many folks have solved this problem for events by using bind() or live(), but I am wondering how to do this for animate().

JQuery :: Extra Callback Fired When Stop() Is Called On A Different Element?

May 29, 2011

I've been banging my head against this extremely frustrating bug but I finally managed to get an isolated test case. Call .animate() on two different elements one after the other and give the second one a "complete" callback. In the callback function call .stop() on the first element, the one with no callback.

The callback function should only fire once (when the second element's animation completes) but instead it fires twice. It only occurs when the animations are started in that order and stop() is called inside the callback.[URL]...

JQuery :: Animate() & Google Chrome - Call Goes To The Element Which Lost The Focus, With An Opacity Value Of 0.2?

Mar 18, 2010

I recently wrote some code, which involves a list. Elements can be picked by up/down arrow keys.To highlight the elements, I'm using a similar call to objects[focus]stop (true,true).animate({'opacity': 1}, 200);(As you can see, all DOM elements are cached)the same call goes to the element which lost the focus, with an opacity value of 0.2.Whatsoever, I noticed on testing that the performance is just fine on firefox 2/3, IE 7/8, even Safari has good results.Only exception so far is Chrome, it's terribly slow on those calls with a CPU load of 40-50%.I didn't further investigate that behavior since it still works "OK" on Chrome, but SIGNIFICANT slower.

JQuery :: Timing Not Quite Right - Hide() Function Calls Immediately Without Waiting For The Animate() Function To Run

Apr 1, 2010

I'm using jQuery 1.4 to hide a div (#cartPop) when the "close" link inside of it (#cartPop a) is clicked. Since I'm using animate() to fade the div out (opacity), I also have to use hide() to get rid of the div once it has faded out (otherwise the invisible div, which is on a higher z-index, blocks the elements on a lower z-index).

Code:

The problem is that the hide() function calls immediately without waiting for the animate() function to run. Even if I append a delay() function before hide() like so:

Code:

...it still doesn't wait.

JQuery :: Stop Browser From Caching Dynami HTML Created From AJAX Call

May 12, 2010

I'm not having this issue with Mozilla Firefox, but it seems that the results of the code below are being cached in EI 8. When the browser makes another asynchronous call to the server with different results from the database, those results are not being displaying on the wepage. How do I fix this problem. As I mentioned above the code works fine in Mozilla Firefox. The page displays data in EI 8 with no errors five seconds after the page has loaded, but as the information in the database changes, I'm not seeing those changes reflected on the page in 5 second intervals. I'm assuming this is a caching issue, if so how do I fix it.
