JQuery :: Access And Clone A Huge Array On Another Page.js ?
Aug 13, 2011
I'm attempting to design my first 'just-watch-it' canvas show, which fills in randomly each time you click start. Doing pretty well, but this is where I'm stumped:
I have an array of 10,000 coordinate pairs = absolute positions on my canvas. I have this monster array on its own 'page.js' and used a <link src="template.js .. to link it in the head of my 'canvas.html'
How do I instruct my script to make a working copy of it? I don't want to manipulate the template array, but my script needs to make a clone of it ...as what? a variable? an object? I don't know what functions to use. This clone will be manipulated and have indices removed one by one as areas are filled in on the canvas.
my template.js just reads:
canvasTemplate = ['H0V0',..................,'H99V99']
Do I need to identify as an element differently so jQuery can locate it?
Each time you click for a new 'show' it needs to run a function of cashing a fresh copy of this array to operate on.

I have got a div-container the size of the window itself. So its relativly big.This in turn has a child-div-container which is substantially larger.This 2nd div-container is absolutely positioned in the first and shall now be scrolled using the mouse. Because for this Project i don't want scrollbars.If the mouse moves to the edge of the outer div, the inner div should move in the appropriate direction.For that the first container has a MouseMove-listener and depending on how close the mouse is at the edge, a scrolling-speed-variable is set.Sidenote: the speed has not a linear but a quadratic increase. The moving itself is not the problem, but the calculation.Because of the quadratic increase in speed the calculation is rather expensive.The question is now whether it would be more performant if i create two arrays (for x- and y-axis) in which I store the velocities for each pixel, or whether I re-calculate the speed for each movement.
That would mean, at a window size of 1200x700px I had two arrays. One with 1200 fields ald values and another with 700. And thats a relativly small resolution.In this way the calculation must be performed only once. After that I only need to read the velocities out of the arrays.

I have an upload file operation in the web application. UploadForm.jsp
is the form, and UploadAction.jsp is the form processing. The web server is
Websphere.
//UploadForm.jsp
<FORM NAME="InputForm" ACTION="UploadAction.jsp" METHOD="POST"
enctype=multipart/form-data>
<input type="file" name="fileName">
//etc ...
</FORM>
After I deploy the application to the web server, if I upload a small
file size, it is fine.
But if I upload a huge file size more than 10MB, then it cannot even go
to UploadAction.jsp.
After 30 seconds, it has error "The page cannot be displayed" shown on
the web browser.
It cannot even go to UploadAction.jsp. But both UploadForm.jsp and
UnploadAction.jsp are in the same machine.
Interestingly, if I test in local machine, I can upload any file size
without problem. I don't have any hints now. any ideas?

Normal way to access data such as arraydata.INPUTID.field1 is no problem.My problem arises when trying to access data when iterating over input fields in a form. THISID is of course the id of the actual input which corresponds to the INPUTID of the data. Can't find a solution, what should stand instead of THISID in the iteration?

I have a little problem (maybe I'm just to tired to get it -.-). I'm trying to access elements which are descendants of another element. I do it by using
containers = $('.likeReceiver .powermail_radio_inner'); When counting the elements with .length it says, there are three elements. So far everything is working.However, each time I try to access the elements all I get is a message which says "Undefined".

I developed a plugin which loads some content via AJAX. Every time the content is loaded I need to bind to certain elements ( let's say the elements with 'bar' as classname ) the mouseover and mouseout elements. I achieved it by using the ' live() ' instruction.Now my problem comes when I need to scan every element which has 'bar' as classname and do some calulcations on it (they are over 600). I tried to do like this
$container.find('.bar').live('customevent', function()
{
// do some stuff
});
then, once the contents is loaded
...
$container.find('.bar').trigger('customevent');
but this will cause the browser to carsh ( I think because jQuery is scanning over than 600 elements)

I am dynamically generating javascript arrays in my custom tag
This is the java code
autoCompleteResult += "<script> var valuesInListOf" + displayProperty + " = new Array();";
I can see this variable in debug on client side in javascript, just not sure how to access it.
in javascript
var values = "valuesInListOf" + displayProperty;
this gives String variable whereas I want to access JavaScript Array that I created in my tag.

I have a multidimensional associative array in JS which contains category information for a navigation. It's actually set up through PHP, which pulls the info from a database then translates it into JS. I know it's set up correctly since I can see it in the source once the page is rendered. However, accessing this array causes external JS code (from my Slimbox files) to be displayed in the nav. It's as if the array is set up right, but accessing the elements brings in Slimbox code as the elements. It's very strange. You can see the effect here.
It's the secondary nav under Home, Featured Items, etc. Each token that is clickable is separated by an asterisk: [URL]. Notice the other page's navs work great! Try the jewelry nav on the Home page and the categories are set up fine. This is because other pages do not link to Slimbox. (And no, the site aint pretty because I wanted to get the hard stuff working before I work on the look). I've heard of jQuery interfering with Slimbox and Lightbox, but my nav is not using jQuery!

I have a main page with a folio div that is hidden. I'm using jQuery to unhide AND load that div with an external file (keeps the main page file size low). Now that I have the external file loaded into the div, there is a link to a jQuery lightbox image gallery.
However, that jQuery call is unable to access the code and launch the slideshow. I've tried placing the <script> tags on the loaded file as well to no avail. Are there any solutions, or can an external file not pass jQuery calls to its host page?

how would i build a multidimensional array? would it be: PHP Code:
var rinksAndPriceArray = new Array();
rinksAndPriceArray[0] = new Array();
rinksAndPriceArray[1] = new Array();
i've figured that out so far.
now, i want to be able to access a part of one of the arrays based on a variable that is passed into the function
the variable i'll send in will be the first part of the array ex: rinksAndPriceArray[0][0] and i'll want to return the rinksAndPriceArray[0][1] value.

make a site with image wich would change based on seconds and minutes of an hour.
Image (size about 500x280) should change every second (or at least every 5 sec).
Example: If I enter the site at 15:00.07, first image i would see would be Image 0007 which changes after a second to 0008 and so on.
If entering the site 17:59.59 Image would number 3600 and next would be 0001.
I hope you understud. Ask is problems to understand.

I would like to be able to access the raw CSS code that has been loaded for the specific page. I'm not looking to change the code (I know how to use jQuery for CSS manipulation etc...) I just want to parse through it and extract some useful information.I considered just loading the stylesheet references in the page, then placing a request to the server for the .css file, but this feels messy even if the browser happens to have the page cached from having just requested it.Has anyone got a clue as to how one would go about this? As always, I think its best if it uses jQuery XD, however, I just really want to get this done

I am having problem with displaying data in fckeditor. I am opening clone dialogs that display forms from another page. Everything comes up fine but fckeditor is not displaying any data in it. This only happens on IE8, no issues on FF. If I view this page outside the jquery dialog everything works fine. So there is conflict between jquery dialog and fckeditor.

I'm a starter in using jQuery and I decided to work my way through the 'Learning JQuery' book from packt.Somewhere in Chapter 5 they use the clone() function with the false attribute. The JQuery version used in the book is 1.1.3a. With the clone(false) method the writer can clone only the matched element and not the descendants. And that works in 1.1.3a.I know that this is no longer the case in JQuery 1.4. Boolean is only for Event Handlers.But what is the new equivalent of this method? In other words. How can I clone an element with only the matched element and not it's descendants?

I have a block of HTML that I am cloning, as I want to manipulate it to remove an element, so that I can then append that new HTML somewhere else on the page.
[Code]....
Then in the jQuery, I have tried many different ways of removing stuff from that clone, but with no luck. E.g.
var cont = $('#container').clone();
$(cont).remove("copy_btn").appendTo("body");
There are no errors showing up in Firebug, but the html added to the bodu still contains the link with the id "copy_btn". Is this even possible? The api says that remove() will remove matched selectors from the DOM, so as this is just a set of elements is that the reason? If so, is there a way to achieve this, or would I have to append it somewhere on my page and then perform the manipulation?
