JQuery :: Troubleshooting XML Error Returned To Client Browser?

Apr 22, 2010

I'm new to Ajax. I'm getting a parse error in $.ajax. The xml file I am feeding it is dead simple, and validates just fine elsewhere. What else can I do to see what is wrong with the xml file?[code]...

How can I get more information about why $.ajax thinks that [Object XMLHttpRequest] is not an object?

JQuery :: Testing For Error Condition In Returned JSON Formatted Data

Dec 14, 2010

I'm pretty new to jQuery and I'm using $.getJSON to submit some data to a PHP script which either returns 5 sets of json-formatted data or data to indicate an error condition (i.e., no data available) from the PHP database query. The callback routine handles the 5 sets of json-formatted data just fine (using $.each...) but I'm having trouble testing for either just a string with 'null' in it or a json-formatted data return of [{"error":"null"}].

My callback code for the second approach looks like this:
function handle_stores(data) {
if (data.error == "null") .....
But this test does not execute the following code for the 'true' condition, i.e., data.error == "null" never evaluates to 'true'.

JQuery :: Malsup Form Plugin And The JSON Returned From A Form Submission: The Error Callback Is Always Called?

Aug 19, 2010

I'm having troubles with an existing J2EE application (which uses Dojo) and in which I'm gradually introducing jQuery. The specific issue is with the malsup Form plugin and the JSON returned from a form submission: the error callback is always called, regardless of what happens on the server side, and the error is always "parsererror". I'm using jQuery 1.4.2 and the 2.45 version of the malsup Form plugin.
For example, given the following code:

$(document).ready(function() {
var options = {
dataType: 'json',[code]....

the server receives the submission and handles it without errors, then in the browser I always get the same alert from the processAddressEditSubmitError() function, with an "Invalid JSON" message:

pStatus=parsererror
pErrorText=Invalid JSON: {"nickname":"trytrez","success":"success"}

However, the JSON looks OK for me (and http:[url]...agrees that it is valid).

Ajax :: Cache Response Into Client Browser?

Dec 29, 2010

Hint me about an easy and clear way to cache ajax response into client browser WITHOUT using the JQuery? I am unable to find that on google.

I have a page that is loaded using AJAX and it takes long time to load every time (approximately 28 seconds), so I need to cache it to reduce the time. I tried the stored procedure for database, but it did not give me good result, so I want to try the caching.

Troubleshooting DHTML And Javascript

Oct 20, 2006

I am testing in IE7.

I display one of several spans when the user mouses over some code.
Inside the span are several tabs. Clicking on the tab triggers a JS
function that hides the "current" text for the span, then shows the
"new Current" box. It's a constantly revolving door- turn off old,
turn on new. Switch from one span to another and reset the fields.

When I switch between different "spans" then switch back, there are
ghost form elements on the screen (a text area, a blank button) that
appear near where they should be. The section that I was last on does
not display. This occurs when switching between different spans.
HOWEVER, when I set a javascript alert to display what the old visible
and new visible divs are within each span, none of these problems
occur- everything displays correctly. It's as if the alerts "reset"
the javascript display in some fashion. The errors only happen when
the alerts are not on.

Does anyone know why this might happen or if it's a common occurence
that these problems disappear when an alert is used? If I don't use an
alert, how do you display JS variables during testing. Here are some
of my JS functions. Code:

The messages displayed were like:

I have no idea what this means!!! Does anyone know where to find the
solution for this problem? The page works fine on Windows with IE (and
probably some more browsers).

The trim function is located in an exteral javascript file which is
referenced in the head of the html. Code:

Upload Huge File Size: "The Page Cannot Be Displayed" Browser Error

Jul 23, 2005

I have an upload file operation in the web application. UploadForm.jsp
is the form, and UploadAction.jsp is the form processing. The web server is
Websphere.

//UploadForm.jsp
<FORM NAME="InputForm" ACTION="UploadAction.jsp" METHOD="POST"
enctype=multipart/form-data>
<input type="file" name="fileName">
//etc ...
</FORM>

After I deploy the application to the web server, if I upload a small
file size, it is fine.

But if I upload a huge file size more than 10MB, then it cannot even go
to UploadAction.jsp.

After 30 seconds, it has error "The page cannot be displayed" shown on
the web browser.

It cannot even go to UploadAction.jsp. But both UploadForm.jsp and
UnploadAction.jsp are in the same machine.

Interestingly, if I test in local machine, I can upload any file size
without problem. I don't have any hints now. any ideas?

Rounding Returned Value From Jquery.css

Sep 7, 2011

So just found out the problem I was having, and came up with a solution (bandaid really) but would like to know if anyone else has run into this and what they did.

Code JavaScript:
var left_margin = $(this).css('margin-left').replace(/D/g,'');

So the above, get the left margin of the object, strip all but numbers and store into a variable. Easy, right? Here's what happened. Inserted the object into the DOM, Chrome returned 212px, which was converted to 212*fine. Firefox on the other hand returned 212.5px, which was converted to 2125 not fine. I'm centering the element on the screen based on this number, so the additional 2000ish pixels is WAY off. My solution was to increase one of my initial values a single pixel in which both browsers return 213px*but like I said this is only a bandaid solution. Not really understanding the value of .5 pixel, but looking into that. Is there a rounding function in jquery? Javascript I would have to strip the px from the string, convert to integer and THEN round.
