Pre-loading Images On The Client Browser
Sep 30, 2005
I have an application, which has to change to different images based on
some conditions. I am trying to call a javascript function(this
function changes the images on the front end) from the ASP script. I
want to preload all the images to the client side browser and point to
a different image source through the javascript.

I have only started to learn HTML, CSS, and Javascript (roughly 2 weeks now). I am having a issues regarding when I submit form data to the server. I want to temporarily disable the 'submit' button while the browser is loading and then reactivate it once everything has finished loading. This was my attempt at doing this.

I have a lot of javascript functions that request information from an iframe hidden on the page. I see other sites do this, but their browser does not do the loading action (like the processing circle in Firefox). When I do it on my site, each browser shows the loading icon, as if a page was loading. Is it possible to not have this?

That is a sample link. Go down right side of page where you see three buttons: Trailers Featurettes Clips.Those return iframe information to work.

I'm having difficulty loading images via Ajax on a site that I've been working on.I'm performing the ajax by using the Request.HTML object of the MooTools framework. Basically, I'm just passing some parameters to a php script which outputs some image tags and then I insert that HTML into a pre-defined content div. For some reason though, it seems that big images don't seem to load consistently when using this technique. Usually, they will just show up as broken images, but when I navigate to the url of the image that is 'broken', it displays just fine. Also, occasionally after navigating to the actual url of the image, my browser will cache the image and then it will display just fine when loading it through Ajax.

Hint me about an easy and clear way to cache ajax response into client browser WITHOUT using the JQuery? I am unable to find that on google.
I have a page that is loaded using AJAX and it takes long time to load every time (approximately 28 seconds), so I need to cache it to reduce the time. I tried the stored procedure for database, but it did not give me good result, so I want to try the caching.

One friend asked me this question. He know vb, vba and some vb.net. Now he wants to do some scripting. The language he wants to learn is vbscritpt. I know there are a limited number of browsers support client-side vbscript, but don't know exactly which one, and how much market share they cover.

I would like to allow a user to browse his local directories, choose an
image (probably .jpeg) file, and upload it to the server (a servlet). The
same functionality that online datiing agencies use to let people save their
photograph with their profiles. (My application is an online Want Ads.)
I feel that this must be possible within a minimal client (without a JVM)
using nothing more than JavaScript, but I'll be damned if I can find how.
Would one of you more experienced JavaScript people please point me in the
right direction.

I prefer jQuery over flash and not sure how to tackle this, so please advise as best you can. Trying to create a site that allows for images to go full browser and then have the ability to have the other images slide in based on a click.
I also want to float a menu that will allow it to pull in other media (video, that would slide in the same way). The best example I can share is this: http://j.mp/5U79i1 What he is using is flash based (slideshowpro director and slideshow pro for flash). Not interested in flash for this personal project.

I'm new to Ajax. I'm getting a parse error in $.ajax. The xml file I am feeding it is dead simple, and validates just fine elsewhere. What else can I do to see what is wrong with the xml file?[code]...
How can I get more information about why $.ajax thinks that [Object XMLHttpRequest] is not an object?

It's for a photo gallery like this http:[url].....php but the one I need it for has 100 images so the page loads much slower. I can't just put the loading gif behind the images (as you would normaly) because you can see it with each image fade in and out. how I can have a loading gif show "only" while the images are initially loading, and then it goes away?

Code:
function loadDivs()
{
var mardi2= $('mardiGras');
mardi2.show();

I have a couple of questions regarding the loading of .js files for
the browser and would like anyone to point me wher to find the answer
(or if you know the answer and tell me will do just fine ;) )
- If I have several pages all using 'somejs.js' file this file is
shared on disk and is downloaded only once... but how about in memory,
is it also shared and just loaded once?
-Also, when are the .js files unloaded from memory?
-Can I unload at any given time a .js file from memory?

I have some code that performs differently in Opera than it does in any other browser. So I have a stylesheet specifically for opera. Is there a way to do something like this, where I check the browser, and if it's not opera, then load the default sheet, otherwise load the opera-specific css?

As of this writing, that code seems to break my page, as if it doesn't like loading a sheet based on an if/else clause.

I feel like a complete fool! I should know the answer to the Q:
How do I load an image with JS and replace the default image?
Some background: My final objective is to have a web site where it
is VERY difficult to copy images off the site. The first thing I
was going to do was force folks to turn on JavaScript so that I
could disable the right click pop up menu. To force this, I thought
I would have all the default images say that JavaScript is required
to view the images. The problem is that I cannot figure out for the
world in me how to load the good image.......
