JQuery :: Repeated Event Attachment To Element

Nov 5, 2010

I am a little bit stuck with the events attachment. Currently I want to create an unsorted list, that he "li" elements, that have "ul" child nodes, should respond to a mouse click, hidding the corresponding childs, however, with the increasing of 'ul' levels the events attachment increases proportionally. In the example bellow, the "li" with "3.c" text should raise only an alert, but it is raising two.

JQuery :: Event.stopPropagation() Is Preventing A Live Event On A Child Element

Jul 6, 2009

As far as I understood, stopPropagation() is supposed to stop events bubbling 'up' though the element tree (through parent elements). Eg. If I use stopPropagation() on a click event on an anchor element in a list, the event would not be triggered on the list. In my code I have a popup div, that needs to have stopPropagation(), as a click on the document (everywhere other than the popup) will hide it. When I add an element to the popup that has a live click event, the live click event is never called, even though it is a child element of the popup. Shouldn't the live click get called first? If I remove the stopPropagation all is well.. some code:

$('#a_test_link').live("click", function(e){
e.preventDefault();
alert('done!');
});

JQuery :: Script Slows Down With Repeated Use?

Oct 21, 2009

I wrote a simple jQuery script to take a HTML list (ul and li elements) and add collapsing functionality. The problem is that when you click one of the items open and closed repeatedly, the execution gets slower and slower and eventually stops responding.

[Code]...

The list starts out fully expanded with a "+" next to each item that can be folded, which changes to a "-" after the folding is done. If a "-" is clicked, that item and all its children are expanded.

JQuery :: Validate Forms With Repeated Rows

Mar 7, 2009

I m aware of various ways to validate forms using JQuery, but here I have a complex thing, and i need the most optimized code for it... Basically I have a form made up of rows each containing a number of input text fields which are repeated on a the following rows however of course with different IDs and names... There is no need to fill all the rows, but it is necessary to fill all the fields of a specific row. Now I was wondering, how can i make sure that each row is properly filled? knowing that some rows will be totally blank [which is okay]

Is It Possible To Detect When Attachment Loads?

Feb 24, 2011

I have a script that reloads the page to get a PDF generated by PHP. I could have PHP send the file with a content disposition of 'attachment' and the browser will catch the file, open the save dialog, and general happiness follows.My boss wants the user to be unable to do anything while this is going on. Tired of arguing the point about the benefit of handling transactions asynchronously, is there a way for me to detect in the origin page when this attachment has arrived so that I can shut of any loading indicator I have running?

Any window events fired by this? I mean, when the browser gets the response and sees it is an attachment and not a page does an event get raised in the calling page?

JQuery :: Preventing / Suppressing Repeated Animations On Same Select

May 6, 2010

I have some elements that hide and show real quick when I click on the same selected checkbox. I only want to hide or show something on change, and only when I need to. The way the behavior works now is I have 20 checkboxes, and each time I check one (even if it's the same), I see the associated elements hiding, then showing real quick. I don't want anything to happen though if all they do is toggle the checkbox, unless there's a condition to uncheck it. It's kind of hard to convey what I'm talking about here, but maybe my code can shed some light:[code]

JQuery :: Repeated Show/hide - P.hidden Must Be Closed By A Link Within Himself

Jun 7, 2010

Here's what I want to do:

1. Have a link (p.advert a.toggle) inside p.advert that tells p.hidden to show itself and at the same moment hides that link (p.advert a.toggle).

2. p.hidden must be closed by a link within himself.

3. When I close p.hidden, I need p.advert a.toggle to become visible so that the user can see p.hidden again by clicking on p.advert a.toggle.

4. The code must be reusable many times on the same page.

At the moment I can't get point 3 to work.

Repeated OnClick Doesn't Work In IE ?

Jan 27, 2010

I'm doing a very simple click count funktion with Ajax where I put some data in a mySQL database when some links are clicked:

onClick="UpdateSQL('1', '190', 'divname', 'message');"
function UpdateSQL(KundeID, IP, sideElement, kaldMessage) {
document.getElementById(sideElement).innerHTML = kaldMessage;

[code]....

And the file called puts the data in the database..This all workes fine, but if I click the link again, it doesn't work... It works in Firefox, if I click the link or button or whatever it puts data in the database multiple times...But in IE7 and 8 it only works on the first click, and when you have to close the browser window and and go to the url again make it count one more click...

JQuery :: After Element Is Created Event?

Aug 12, 2010

Imagine an element with a specific selector getting created and then once the element exists and the selector is applied, all of the behaviors are applied (events, styles and plugin methods).

[Code]...

This would be similar to the live event where a function is applied to the specified event of all selectors even if they do not exist yet. The only difference is that the event is not the typical peripheral driven event (mousemove, keyup,etc) but would be fired once that element exists in DOM.

JQuery :: Reattach Event To Element

Jan 30, 2010

I'm trying to develop a search box overlabel feature working off of the example provided in Learning jQuery. I have everything working great except for one problem, it breaks when I switch out the content using ajax. I'm using CGI::Ajax for my ajax functionality and I have my page laid out as follows [code]When a user pages, the ajax fires, the entire div is swapped out and the results table updates. Obviously when do that, my the overlable function isn't firing to manipulate the label and the overlabel shows up in the search box along with whatever the current search string is. Is there some way I can tell jquery to re-run the overlay control function when that search box form (or even the whole div) is re-loaded? I've tried using the live function and binding the form/div to load and ready events, but neither of those is working, from what I can tell there aren't any events that can be attached to a div that will do what I need.

The layout of the page dictates that the search and pagination controls be on the same horizontal plane, and I'd prefer not to change that, so I'd like to try to get around the simple solution of just moving the search box outside of that div.
