I have table that has four columns and many many rows. It is quite long. I need to add a special divider (border) between each td cell. I thought I could create a css style .border_right and apply it to all td cells using jquery addClass() and then remove the class from the fourth td cell in each row so it does not add to or affect the outside border of the table.
My question is, how do I remove the class from the fourth td of each row using jQuery? I figure there has to be a shortcut way (one or two lines) to do this using jQuery so I don't have to manually add a 'class="border-right"' to each td I need it on.
I downloaded a form that I'm trying to add some modifications to. I'm appending a class to a tag once the validation on a form input fails. But I can't seem to have it removed once the validation "passes"
I have several conditional select boxes that populate from a database, using .ajax(). When the first select has an onchange, the second select populates normally. The same goes for the second and third selects. When I change the value of the second select box, the third box drops all dynamically created options and repopulates. When I change the value of the first select box, I can only empty the second box and repopulate. The third and future boxes keep their values.

where next_dropdown_ID is the ID of the child select box. I've played with .find() and .filter() but the results are always either (a) ALL options with this class are removed, including the select I'm currently in, or (b)NO options with this class are removed.
Is it possible to delete ALL options on the page that have the ".dynamic_option" class, except for the children of the select box I'm currently in? I was hoping to be somewhat dynamic about it and not have to write an IF statement for every potential select box, so the code will be reusable. I can post the full function and HTML if more context is needed.

So, from what I've gathered from the docs, this doesn't work because the addClass and removeClass functions don't observe the queue. How could I get around this and setup a function that will add a class, wait a second, then remove that class? Would it require me to go outside of jQuery a bit and use some standard JS?

The second half of the code looks to see if any of the cells contain an element with class 'event'. If one exists, then the '.am' anchor should be removed. However this does not appear to be happening. After carrying out a few tests with the 'alert' function, it looks as though the script thinks that every cell contains a '.event' element, but I have no idea why! Not only that, it doesn't remove the '.am' link from any of them.

if i use jquery to attach a click or keyup handler to an element, and then later remove that element form the DOM, do i need to clean up/remove the handler first?

I have a lot of information on my site that is in multiple categories. I have a list of categories, each with its own checkbox. By default, all the information is displayed (therefore all the checkbox's are checked by default).When someone unchecks the box I want to hide the divs with that class, and when someone rechecks the box, they should reappear. Here is my code so far. It is hiding the div's fine, but they are not reappearing when user tics the checkbox again.

I'm working on a Wordpress site and am using a photo gallery plugin. However, this plugin, for some reason, generates an empty table row and it's messing with my layout because I'm inserting a background image for each of the "TDs". I don't want to mess w/ the core files since the changes will be gone after the next upgrade. check out these two image links to see exactly what I mean.

I know there are ways to dynamically remove elements using DOM. Would I be able to use that method here?
-edit- This gallery is paginated and I just noticed that on the last page, the last row actually contains two pictures and a " ". So, a better question would be: Is there a way to target just the td elements that have  in them so I can add a display:none via css?
I wrote a simple script to remove an element of an array but I don't think this is the best way to go about it. I have a list of about five elements seperated by ";"
I split the array using array.split(";") command and proceeded to update the elemment by assigning the null value to the arrayindex
array[index]=""
This of course assigns null to the element
But there are two problems
1. The array size is still five instead of 4 and my list is now seperated by "," with an exta "," to go.
I'm trying to remove an html element in the example below. I don't see the "bye" message at the end and there are no errors reported in Firefox or exceptions caught if I wrap the remove child line in a try-catch. Any ideas what is wrong?

I have a JavaScript file which Adds and Removes elements when you click a button.
Adding stuff is okay, but removing elements is more complicated.
When you add an element you also add id=x. Each time you add an element x goes up one. For example if I click "add element" 5 times it would be like this:

I'm relatively experienced with jQuery (not a guru but not a newbie) but am wondering how I can write a script where if one element is hovered over then a different element on the page has a particular class added to it.
hi everybody, didn't find this using the search :( this is my problem: i create a dom element dynamically (<span>) and want to assign a class attribute to it such that it has some css style, this works in ie, but not in firefox :( here's the simple code:

if i run this code on a statically defined span (in the html file), where a class attribute already is set:
changing the class to "span_class" works both in ie and firefox.
how can i fix my above code such that it works in both browsers? it seems that on newly created dom elements the class attribute isn't even there (to change it), how can i create it, and then change it?
I am trying to access an element in a page using ID using jquery in when the document is ready.But the problem is the length is always 0 even if the script tag is in the head or right at the bottom of the page.
