Lets assume I have the outer div ( class= outer) which has inside of it 5 inner divs (class = inner) and one button (id = buttonID).
I want to bind a click on the button. (DONE)
The button will call a function to fadeOut(5000) the divs. and then fadeIn(5000) (DONE)
If I press the button while the fading is happening then another fade "queue" will add to the one happening.
I want to unbind the click while the effect starts. (DONE)
I want to queue the binding to the button after the effect have ended. (NOT DONE!!!)
.queue() refers to an element while I have different elements.
.setTimeout is not an option because the time is not standard.
Can I do something like:
$('body').queue( function() {
function to select the divs and fade them
})
.queue( function () {
function to select the button and bind the click
});

is there a way in jQuery to bind variables to function calls similar as prototype.js does it? See [URL]
E.g. in the slideUp method of jQuery you can specify a callback that is called after the effect has finished. I would like to bind a variable to this call so that it is used inside of this callback as a closure.

I am trying to display a hidden bookmarks list when the bookmarks category heading is clicked on. I have gotten as far as writing the script below so that once the heading is clicked, the list drops down and the list items fade in..
how to I make the list items fade out prior to the list collapsing again?
Here is what i have conjured up so far:
var $j = jQuery.noConflict();
//online bookmarks
$j(document).ready(function() {
$j('#online-links').click(function() {

I would like to substitute the following lines with a loop, such that I do not have to copy them countless times... (array stores jQuery-objects / with the $ in front)array[0].click(function() { someFunction(0); });
[Code]...
Can someone please explain the reason for this (I'm guessing the assignment only 'lives' during execution of the loop-cycle) and maybe suggest a way around it?

The aim is a roll over button. It works on hover, and shows the two images however I can't seem to make them link to their individual pages. First question, How do you put in the a href code correctly? Maybe I'm using the wrong formula although I've reasearched heaps of other alternatives and I just can't seem to make it work.Second question, Anyone know how to bind this all up intoa simplier code?

When I load the page the div #forgot_login blindes down even though I did NOT click the anchor link. Also, clicking the anchor link does not toggle it up and down. The event binding is not working.
HTML
<a href="#" id="forgot_login_link" title="Show">Show</a>
jQuery Event
$("#forgot_login_link").click(show_hide($("#forgot_login")));
Here is the show/hide code:
function show_hide(p_Element) {
p_Element.toggle('blind', { direction: "vertical" }, 500);
}

I'm making a Vacation Rental application and it works... for the most part. The following will describe what a property owner will be doing when they subscribe to this site to add their vacation rental property to the site.
They first enter information about the Property Site itself, location, address.etc., and then they add specific attributes about the property, such as how many rooms are in the house, bathrooms, accommodations, etc.
Here's an image for the page:
When the "Add Button" button is clicked, it opens a jQuery dialog to allow the site owner to enter information about the room, such as the Room name, description, how many it sleeps, etc. This all works, for the most part.
Here's a shot of the dialog:
When the site owner clicks the "Save" button, the data in the dialog is sent to the server via Ajax (Json). Again this all works.
After a successful transaction, the server controller returns HTML of the table of rooms for this property site and then the jQuery success option replaces the existing HTML table with the new table that has the new row that includes the new room information.
Again, this does work.
What doesn't work completely correctly is, in each row of the table are buttons to "Edit" the room, or "Manage Beds" for the room, and after the table is dynamically replaced via the jQuery script, the button click events in each row are no longer bound.
So it's the "Manage Beds", "Edit" and "Delete" buttons that lose their event binding after the HTML table is replaced when a new Room is added or edited.
Is there a way to re-bind the button events after the table is replaced? I'd really like this to be bullet-proof.

When the window loads, I want a function to check all text fields with a certain class if there is a value. If there is no value in the text field the value 0 will be set to the field. So far this is my code, but it does not work:
$(window).load(function() {
$(".classx,.classy").(function() {if ($(this).val() == "") {(this).val("0")}});

I have created a drop-down menu using jQuery, here: [URL]. It works just fine, but as you can imagine, I want each drop-down menu to work independently of the others. I understand what's happening and why it happens, but am unsure of the best course of action. I need it to be dynamic, meaning we really never know how many drop-down menus will be on the screen; could be 2 could be 22? So how do we bind the function to each drop-down so they can work independently? Probably some different ways to skin this cat, but what is the best way? Here's my javascript: [URL].

I found this great accordion script that does everything I need, EXCEPT: I need the first level <li> to close upon second click of itself, collapsing the list - meaning I also want the option of the list able to be closed WITHOUT clicking on another first level <li>. How do I change the code below to do that?
Code:
function initMenus() {
$('ul.menu ul').hide();
$.each($('ul.menu'), function(){
$('#' + this.id + '.expandfirst ul:first').show();

I use the live - method to bind a handler to a click-event for all links with class "userDiv"
When I DON'T use this and use instead the "normal" click handler
I can still use the middle Mouse-Button in Firefox to open the link in a new tab without any jquery-stuff
But when I use the live-method (and it would be nice to use it) the middle Mouse-Button behaves like the left one.
