JQuery :: Function To Select Button And Bind Click
Apr 1, 2011
Lets assume I have the outer div ( class= outer) which has inside of it 5 inner divs (class = inner) and one button (id = buttonID).
I want to bind a click on the button. (DONE)
The button will call a function to fadeOut(5000) the divs. and then fadeIn(5000) (DONE)
If I press the button while the fading is happening then another fade "queue" will add to the one happening.
I want to unbind the click while the effect starts. (DONE)
I want to queue the binding to the button after the effect have ended. (NOT DONE!!!)
.queue() refers to an element while I have different elements.
.setTimeout is not an option because the time is not standard.
Can I do something like:
$('body').queue( function() {
function to select the divs and fade them
})
.queue( function () {
function to select the button and bind the click
});
I'm making a Vacation Rental application and it works... for the most part. The following will describe what a property owner will be doing when they subscribe to this site to add their vacation rental property to the site.
They first enter information about the Property Site itself, location, address.etc., and then they add specific attributes about the property, such as how many rooms are in the house, bathrooms, accommodations, etc.
Here's an image for the page:
When the "Add Button" button is clicked, it opens a jQuery dialog to allow the site owner to enter information about the room, such as the Room name, description, how many it sleeps, etc. This all works, for the most part.
Here's a shot of the dialog:
When the site owner clicks the "Save" button, the data in the dialog is sent to the server via Ajax (Json). Again this all works.
After a successful transaction, the server controller returns HTML of the table of rooms for this property site and then the jQuery success option replaces the existing HTML table with the new table that has the new row that includes the new room information.
Again, this does work.
What doesn't work completely correctly is, in each row of the table are buttons to "Edit" the room, or "Manage Beds" for the room, and after the table is dynamically replaced via the jQuery script, the button click events in each row are no longer bound.
So it's the "Manage Beds", "Edit" and "Delete" buttons that lose their event binding after the HTML table is replaced when a new Room is added or edited.
Is there a way to re-bind the button events after the table is replaced? I'd really like this to be bullet-proof.
I am walking into an existing form that uses a custom ajax request to display search results at the button of the page. This is triggered by clicking a form button. I want to trigger the validation on this same click event rather than a submit event. I am just using basic
is there a way in jQuery to bind variables to function calls similar as prototype.js does it? See [URL]
E.g. in the slideUp method of jQuery you can specify a callback that is called after the effect has finished. I would like to bind a variable to this call so that it is used inside of this callback as a closure.
How can I bind 2 functions to one click event to a button(ID="Display") in such a way that Function B() must wait until Function A() finishes and then executes using Jquery?Please make sure that I don't have access to Function A() because I am loading an iframe with .src which includes Function A().
I have a select inside of a table cell and when the user clicks the form Update button I need to get the value of the selected option and pass it to a php var for inclusion in the passed values to the next routine. The retrieval of the selected value could also take place when the selected option is changed.
I would like to substitute the following lines with a loop, such that I do not have to copy them countless times... (array stores jQuery-objects / with the $ in front)array[0].click(function() { someFunction(0); });
[Code]...
Can someone please explain the reason for this (I'm guessing the assignment only 'lives' during execution of the loop-cycle) and maybe suggest a way around it?
The aim is a roll over button. It works on hover, and shows the two images however I can't seem to make them link to their individual pages. First question, How do you put in the a href code correctly? Maybe I'm using the wrong formula although I've reasearched heaps of other alternatives and I just can't seem to make it work.Second question, Anyone know how to bind this all up intoa simplier code?
When I load the page the div #forgot_login blindes down even though I did NOT click the anchor link. Also, clicking the anchor link does not toggle it up and down. The event binding is not working.
HTML <a href="#" id="forgot_login_link" title="Show">Show</a>
Using the same code, I alter the $("#ipselect").msDropDown(); to a bogus ID such as ipselect1. The jquery dropdown select is gone, and the default select box is viewable. When I click one of the options, the click function processes with no issues. Is it not possible to use the click function with the dropdown select code? I think the image dropdown code was posted on the jquery site as a tutorial.
I'm using the following code to attach a method to the click event of my button. It definitely works, but unfortunately the click event happens on page load even though no one has actually clicked on the button. How do I prevent this? $('#btn').bind('click',etCategories());
When the window loads, I want a function to check all text fields with a certain class if there is a value. If there is no value in the text field the value 0 will be set to the field. So far this is my code, but it does not work:
I have created a drop-down menu using jQuery, here: [URL]. It works just fine, but as you can imagine, I want each drop-down menu to work independently of the others. I understand what's happening and why it happens, but am unsure of the best course of action. I need it to be dynamic, meaning we really never know how many drop-down menus will be on the screen; could be 2 could be 22? So how do we bind the function to each drop-down so they can work independently? Probably some different ways to skin this cat, but what is the best way? Here's my javascript: [URL].
How can I do this? I'm new to JavaScript. I tried messing with While but it just caused lag as it kept looping infinitely.
The problem I think is that I have a variable that changes every time I click the button. The function changes the variable. So it successfully changes the variable once to my likings, then when I click the button (thus running the function) it does nothing.
Here's an example I created to show you
So in this case, I need to click the button multiple times in which each time it should add y to x. It only works once and then goes kaput.
I have some jQuery.ajax() calls. It'is all the same but success function and I'd like get less code by taking all ajax calls in the same function.But I need one additional parameter I am using later in the success function, for instance.My actual code is like this:
I have multiple inputs with names like "price1","price2" etc. and they added in the document dynamically after a user event.
I want to bind a function to them so everytime a change event occur to each one, i can calculate the new price. I try to use $("input[name*='price']").each(function(index){}); but I can't to this with live method and combine the change event too.
I've seen a variety of implementations around that enable selecting all or no checkboxes by using a checkbox to toggle that choice. However, I'm trying to find a way like this: I have two text links on my page: Select All, and Select None. How can I get those links to call a jquery function to select all or select no checkboxes in my form? As a little food for thought:
<head> $(function() { //function for selecting all or none...is there a way to make a single function that passes in a parameter to differentiate between selecting all or selecting none, or do I need a separate function for both?[code]....
I want to write a generic clearForm function to clear the form when the user click CLEAR button.
Here's my attempts, because I want to take care all html controls. I think I need to test if the control is submit button, regular button. But I don't know what I should do on drop down box?
function clearForm() {var i=0; for (i=0; i<InputForm.elements.length-1; i++) {var obj = InputForm.elements[i]; document.write(obj.type); //runtime error: object doesn't support this property or method if (obj.type != "submit" && obj.type != "button") obj.value = ""; }}
