JQuery :: Refreshing Image With Same Name Using SRC Attribute

I am trying to refresh an image on the page but it is not happening. I have a page with images and I need to update those images as required. To update an image I upload the image on a lightbox and then close the lightbox. The image on the page should update itself. Now, I tried $('#imageid').attr('src', newimage). I want to make a special mention here that the name of both the old and new images are same. And I feel this is the problem. If I hard code any other image it does appear as soon as the lightbox closes. But, when I try to refresh the image by putting the same image name for the 'src' attribute then nothing happens.

I need to get this done for multiple images - let's say I have 5 places at the same time for a random image to appear, but they mustn't repeat! I don't mind manually selecting images for a certain spot, but it should be declared in another file (rather than the html).

I am trying to gain access to the src attribute of an image yet I keep getting undefined when I try to alert it. However, if I alert using the html() function I get the entire string for the img element. See code below:

I am running a random image script on my 404 page; each time the page is loaded, a random image will be shown: http://philrules.com/blarg (it's the main image on the page, not the little image in the top-right corner)I'm not new to jQuery, but I usually don't write my own scripts.What I'm trying to do is add text to the paragraph which hold the image that will change depending on the image that is shown. I have been searching high and low on how to do this and I think I'm at a loss because I'm so unfamiliar with js and ajax.What I would like to do is have just a single div on a page refresh every 5-10 secs; the content of the div shows what users are logged on; the content is generated by a query on my db

i have found a possible bug in 1.4 but it's only in Internet Explorer 7 & 8.The following code does not work and completely ruins every peice of jquery on the page (that means everything inside $(document).ready and anyting else...

I cant see any syntax errors - i pulled the example from the 1.4 site. There is no trailing commas in the object notation and i really cant see any reason it would work in firefox and not IEx and more to the point not only not work in IEx but break any other jquery in the entire page....

I'm working with a large (and unweildy) ASP.NET application, and there is a lot of jQuery code that uses selectors like this:
[name=_aspnetControl$_withASubControl] And unfortunately, some selectors that also look like this:
[name^=_someAspNetControl$_radioButtonList].
In other words, the effort to remove the $ from the attribute selectors would be monumental. If it is possible to escape the $ symbols, I can do that easily enough, but unfortunately the situation right now means that I can't upgrade to jQuery 1.5.

I am trying to set the attribute for an image element.
If i run the following:

imgMain.setAttribute("data-zoomsrc", "tttt"); //not outputting
imgMain.src = url; //works
The url section works fine. If i check the source code, the attribute data-zoomsrc is never displayed. However, if i write it out in the javascript, i get the value i am after:

It's almost as though it's just never written to the browser.

I am working on an Image Map project, the project must be written under xhtml 1.1 and must validate. The problem is Firefox and Safari will not support the image map without the name attribute, internet explorer does. If I add a name attribute to the image map, the code will not validate under xhtml 1.1. Is there any way to have this work without the name attribute in FF and Safari? The inline styles will be remove later and I would also like to replace the variables with an array but for now the focus is on getting this to work in FF without the name attribute. I can just change the doctype to transitional but we have to use xhtml1.1.

I have an image map. I need to use XHTML 1.1 for this project and the code must validate.The problem is, XHTML 1.1 no longer supports the Name Attribute, it will not validate any code containing the Name Attribute.If I remove the Name Attribute, the image map does not work in FireFox.Are there any means or other method to make this work in Firefox without the Name Attribute?Here is the code for reference:

I'll trying to tell the difference between the following three cases:

<img alt="" />
<img />
I can do this in Firefox with the following code, where elem is the
HTMLElement representing each image, but IE doesn't seem to
differentiate between empty string and undefined.

The desired output from running this code on the 3 tags above is:

It seems like this should be really easy...but I'm having a really

I am trying to refresh the contents of a division without refreshing the entire page when a button is clicked.I have tried

But all this does is clear the contents of the div. Most of the tutorials I have found are refreshing a div with external contents.

I came across this product page at nordstrom that allows users to filter products by certain criteria (size, fit, price, etc). [URL]..
They use ajax to update the page with any new criteria that users select, but with each page update the page url also changes and the browser history shows the new page. This is done without refreshing the page.
how this is done: creating a new page in browser history but without refreshing the page?

i have a slider ( slideup and slidedown of a div box ) and in the div box i have a menu. I want to use AJAX for my whole site so I can load and browse trough pages without refreshing. I use a lavalamp plugin for the menu on each page and some other jquery functions for the different pages.The problem is that when I use AJAX and go to the next page, the javascript there won't be loaded and will start running when I am already on the page. I don't know if the above was clear enough, but my question is: Is there a way I could use AJAX to load the next page, run every javascript function in it and then show it to the user?

Trying to figure out how to get my simple page re-load to pause for a couple seconds before sending the request. I tried $.wait() and think this could possibly be what I need but seem to not be using it correctly, as I have not had any success getting it to work.

How to send one input data using ajax, I then needed to send a form with multiple inputs. I believe I can't do this with AJAX so have tried to implement it using JQuery.
The problems I am having is that my page is refreshing when I click on submit and the data is not being sent.
I am more than happy to look at other ways to do this if JQuery is not the answer. All I want is a page that doesn't refresh or redirect but does submit a form.
