JQuery :: Opening Pages With Ajax?
May 25, 2010
I have a main page (gallery.asp, Ex.1) that loads, via jQuery ajax, another page (picture.asp, Ex.2)
It's all fine when I first open the "gallery.asp" page: the "picture.asp" page loads into the "test" div with the first record I want ('cause of the snippet marked as "// load first picture onLoad")
In my idea, clicking on the "#next" and "#prev" link (that, please notice, are in the "picture.asp" page - so they are ajax-loaded) should load "/picture.asp?iData=<%= nextRecord %>" and "/picture.asp?iData=<%= prevRecord %>" into "test" div respectively
But of course, nothing happens (no "next" or "prev" page is loaded, and I get no errors)
Ex.1
<div id="test"></div>
...
$(document).ready(function(){
// load first picture onLoad
[Code].....

I was wondering if there's a way to get rid of the button, and make it so when the user opens the webpage, it automatically opens the multiple webpages.If that's not possible, I was also wondering if there's a way to make the button "click" on a mouseover, so when they move their mouse across the button, it opens the pages.

Basically I have created 3 pages - index.html, page1.html + page2.html
I have 2 links in index.html that link off to page1.html + page2.html
My question is, can I use javascript in such a way that if I click link 1 then page1.html opens in a new window but if I then click link 2 then page2.html appears in the window that currently has page1.html?

I want to use AJAX for my whole site so I can load and browse trough pages without refreshing. I use a lavalamp plugin for the menu on each page and some other jquery functions for the different pages.The problem is that when I use AJAX and go to the next page, the javascript there won't be loaded and will start running when I am already on the page. I don't know if the above was clear enough, but my question is: Is there a way I could use AJAX to load the next page, run every javascript function in it and then show it to the user?

I am animating a slider.I am using setInterval to loop the animation.This works fine...However...If you open a new tab, or minimize the browser window... when you come back the animation speeds up for a bit and then slows down again...Any ideas why this would be?...I suspect that while the browser window is not active it stores up the setInterval functions and then runs them at once when the window is active... speeding up the animation.

I'm working on a slideshowish type thing using jqm & player, and I'm having trouble solving what seems like it should be a simple problem. I'm using virtual pages, and a javascript object as a script to build the pages programmatically -
[Code]...
If I'm correct that there is no way to get i+1 inside of an $each(collection, function (i, item){} through i + 1 (well, I know that doesn't work - if i is "T1" then i+1=T11), or i.next or something, is there an elegant way to get the next iterator? Something like i.parent.nextChild or something? Should this be in the getting started forum?

jQuery 1.6.2, jQuery UI 1.8.14. I use a sequence of dialogs to present a number of wizard type interfaces to my users, but I have a problem since upgrading to these jQuery versions that certain dialogs within each of my wizards open behind the dialog overlay and I can't get to it. I can see that the dialog is ending up with a zindex of 1000, and the overlay has a zindex of 1001, so I've overridden my dialog property to be 1002, and that brings it over the overlay, but then the input fields on the dialog are still not editable. The escape key will still close the dialog.
This doesn't happen to all my dialogs, but it does happen to the same ones in my sequence of dialogs each time, depending on which wizard I choose. I only see this problem with FF 3.6 (haven't been able to try newer ones yet), but things work fine in IE 8.

I want to click on a picture, have a shade slide across to "close" the image, then open a new html in the same window. I can do both independently, but the page opens off the <a> tag instead of any jquery I know to use, so the new page opens before any animation happens.

I am trying to replicate the function that is on this page [URL] - where the links on the right open an external HTML page that activates a dialog window and the whole thing floats above the parent page. I've ripped apart the JS file but it goes beyond my understanding and has references to demo this and demo that - which isn't going to sit well with my existing code. I am trying to see if there is a simpler version of this function that doesn't require 155 lines of JS. I found the JS code to open an HTML page inside a DIV using ht e object ID method but it still acts like an iFrame and my dialog window is trapped inside, not floating above the parent page. I've even tried to use the CSS overflow: visible; but I'm sure there is more to it than that - especially since it didn't help ;) I can't use AJAX or PHP like many of the scripts I found use, so i has to be just like the page I gave as an example.

how to actually open a link in a new window instead of a new tab.
So far the suggested codes around the internet all come to something like this:
<a href="http://whatever.com/profile/1" id="upload_link" rel="external" target="_blank">To open in new Window</a>
And the jQuery is something like the following:
$("#upload_link").click(function(event) {
event.preventDefault();
event.stopPropagation();
window.open(this.href, '_blank');
});
I read it has worked for some people out there, but in my case it's working only to create new tabs!
I need it to open a new window in Chrome, Firefox and Safari, one with fixed width and height if possible.

My code:
$(function() {
$("#accordion").accordion({
collapsible: true, active: false
});

I have a long saving-process. In my Ajax-call I open the dialog with the beforeSend method.
$.ajax({....
beforeSend: function () {
$("#saving").dialog({
bgiframe: true,
modal: true,
resizable: false
});}
...
This works fine. In the dialog, I display "Saving..." After the ajaxCall is succesfull I want to change the message and add a button "OK" to it.
$("#saving").html("Data saved");
$('#saving').dialog('option', 'buttons',
{ "Ok": function() {
$(this).dialog("close");
}});
But this won't work...Is it possible to change the dialog-content on the fly or is there another jQuery component to create this behavior?
