I'd like to load 3 html files (file1.html, file2.html and file3.html) after onmouseover on one of 3 divs. However, it always loads only file1.html (basing on first div from the top)What am I doing wrong?

It seems like when I load javascript code into a page, that each item I add, such as an accordian vertical navbar, image slider, etc, that each time I add one, the page loads a second or so slower with each one added. I would like some of these features, but is this just a part of life, or are there tricks to avoid the slower load time? It is not major time but after the 2 items I mentioned, it added on about 2 seconds.
I read that $(document).ready(function() might slow me down but I do not see that statement in any of my .js files.
Im using a jQuery script to show/hide a div based based on the selection made via a dropdown.

The problem im having is that the value used in the dropdown lists are price values eg 10.00
Consequently jQuery seems to interprit these as css notations, meaning the code doesnt work.

The first fades a page in and out when loading. The second 'smoothly' scrolls the page down to anchor text in the page. The problem is that the 1st script 'overpowers' the second, so when you click on an anchor text link it starts to 'smoothly scroll down, then the first script kicks in an re-loads the page. Is there a way of stopping the first script if the second one is being used?

When the site loads it takes a while for all the scripts to load and then the images to settle down - more so in IE, naturally. I would like to display a black screen or cover everything with a div while it settles down. View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm currently working on a site where we pull in information from an RSS feed and then use a script to rotate them. The problem that I'm coming up against is if the RSS takes a while to load the script is throwing an error.
The RSS feed is being pumped out as list items so if the li isn't found that's when I receive the error. I thought a while loop maybe the answer to this but I'm unsure about how to implement it. I've attached the function below.

I am launching a web page in an iFrame and then clicking the "Start Tests" button provided by QUnit. All the tests for the loaded page correctly show asserts for each test. I then do $('selector').trigger.('click') to go to a new page. Since the tests for this page start running before the page is completely loaded I see failed asserts. This is expected.
So then I try something like:
What happens is that I see no assert result in the QUnit test report for 'test C'. If I remove the stop, setTimeout, and start calls then I see the assert, but of course if fails.
I am aware that unit tests are supposed to be independent of each other and not need to run in a certain order, i.e. scenario testing. What I want to know is if QUnit supports some way to pause and then restart groups of tests.
My site, lizbmorrison.net, uses an adapted version of superbgimage and I've been trying to find what controls the visibility of #showtitle. Currently its automatically hidden when the page loads, and can be toggled by the info button in the lower right corner, but I'd like it to be visible by default.

Can I intercept the loading of an image BEFORE it loads? We're looking at using an img tag for inserting stats on our server. Here's what I'm considering.
1) Collect certain information server side, write an img to the document like so (note the URL vars): <img id="statsImg" src="stats.cfm?somevar=someval" width="1" height="1" />
2) Using JS, intercept the load of this image BEFORE it takes place, and add things to the URL vars. This way, if JS is not present, you get the default stuff, but if JS is present, you get extra stuff.

I'm trying to get basic JQuery tabs working, using the example shown on this website.If I put the example code on a page by itself it works exactly as intended. However, as soon as I try and incorporate that same code into my site its behaviour changes. The content for all three tabs appears on the one page and then when the page has finished loaded they then eventually hide.

I'm using Chrome and it's JSShell extension I remove the <emb> and some <iframe> tags from a lot of different sites because their annoying ads.
The I use code for most sites looks like this:
It doesn't do anything. If I don't use $(document).ready() it removes all the ads. Is there a way to do that before loading the document or am I doing something wrong.
I was hoping there is some way to fix this, in IE7 and 9beta when you navigate between pages from my main nav the page loads scrolled to the bottom. It seems to be pretty random and will not reproduce consistently. Is there a way to force all anchors with a certain class to scroll to the top?

Is there a way to display the content as it arrives instead of waiting for the whole thing?It would probably be OK if this requires a synchronous request. The purpose of the page is to display the table, so it doesn't matter if nothing else can happen while it loads.

So basically, the flow is like this..
page loads
callback to 3rd party.
--> is third party connected = yes --> build iframe (in parent page)
---> is third party connected = no --> do nothing
Is there a way to ensure that only the first image in my image slider shows while the page is loading? Currently all of the images appear stacked on the page until the page has finished loading.

defer loading but I don't know how hard it would be to tweak this plug-in or what to tweak in order to parse my own incoming XML in the response and then get the list items to show dynamically in the <ul></ ul> So I don't know where to start on this.
