JQuery :: IE7 Not Completing FadeTo Whilst 'keydown'?

May 18, 2009

I currently have 3 jQuery events assigned to the document keydown, keyup and click.

Here is my code:

var logkeydown = false;
$(function(){
$(document).keydown(function(e){
var key; e?key=e.keyCode:key=event.keyCode;

[Code].....

They toggle the boolean value of whether the keyboard key 'e' is currently pressed. If so, when the user clicks any of the site, I have a Thickbox fading in. This works great in Firefox and Safari, but IE7 begins to fade in the Thickbox (btw, I slightly altered the thickbox code to fade it in/out) but halts half-fade until the 'e' key is released.

JQuery :: Loop - FadeIn Not Completing Before Iterating

May 22, 2010

I have a for loop where I am applying a fadeIn for each element in a div group. As I'm for looping through each element, the loop doesn't wait till the fadeIn applies completely on one element .. before going to the next iteration.

So what I'd want as a step by step fading in is now happening all at once.

Here's my code.

So tmp_id is the variable that stores the id of each element in that group.

JQuery :: FadeTo() Internet Explorer?

Sep 20, 2011

I have a link which when clicked either fades up a full screen overlay and a popup box ontop or fades them both down. This works perfect in every browser except IE7 and IE8. The popup box fades in and out OK but the overlay just appears or disappears with no fading (which is bizarre!)

JQuery :: FadeTo() On Whole Paragraph But One Word?

May 30, 2010

I have a div with some content in it, within the content there's an anchor and when you click it all the content but the anchor itself should fadeTo('slow', 0.2);

What I have now is;

$("p a#somelink").click(function()
{
$(this).parent().parent().children("p").fadeTo("slow", 0.2);
return false;
});

Which obviously just fades all paragraphs. Is it possible to do what I want and with which selection string would I achieve it?

JQuery :: Displaying A Child Whilst Hiding A Parent?

May 11, 2010

I have a div (representing a form) with a number of images positioned absolutely within it. The images represent buttons and what I'd like to do is click on one of the images/buttons and the whole form to fade out with the exception of the selected button which merely changes it's opacity from 1 to 0.5 (to remind the user it was clicked). Here's the code I'm using:

$(this).parent().fadeOut("fast");
$(this).stop().css("opacity", 0.5).fadeIn("fast");

However, despite referencing the elements in a number of ways (they have unique id's), every time I run this, $(this) won't show - the opacity is being set but it seems to remain steadfastly invisible whilst the parent div is invisible/hidden - am I barking up completely the wrong tree here ?

JQuery :: Combining Live With FadeTo Event

May 17, 2011

I am trying to bind the live event to the fadeTo(). I am doing so because after the page is loaded, I am adding new elements to the page through ajax and need them to come in as faded. This is what I currently have.
$('.work').fadeTo('fast',.35);
This is what I have tried to do.
$('.work').live(fadeTo('fast',.35));
Above does not seem correct, but I have searched for more info/documentation on using live() with fadeTo but have found nothing.

JQuery :: FadeTo And Hide Aren't Very Stylish?

Feb 26, 2010

When I call FadeTo or Hide, the fontstyling on my elements seems to get lost. This happens with both1.3.2 and 1.4.1 on IE8, running IIS6 on my local Windows machine. The attachment illustrates the problem. Click the Hide/Show button to toggle between the states. With minor and obvious modifications in the source code you can switch back and forth between the FadeTo and Hide/Show techniques. Both are set to happen slowly, so thatyou can see that the problem begins immediately as soon as the function is called. The font style on the screen visibly changes, and remains corrupted afterwards as you toggle back and forth. My own classes on the elements, linked to the embedded CSS,remain unchanged througout the scenario.The attachment is named test.txt because, of all things, this site doesn't seem to allow htm files to be attached. Rename it to test.htm (youwill also have to adjust the path to your jquery file) and give it a run.I'm a noob,so I fully expect that there's a simple explanation for this. I look forward to it.

JQuery :: FadeTo() - Delay In The Availability Of The Effect?

Sep 7, 2011

I'm having trouble with the fadeTo() function. I'm doing it on rollover on a series of thumbnails that loads based on featured images of pages in a Wordpress site. I've got things working, but there seems to be some delay in the availability of the effect. The effect doesn't happen until a few seconds after the page is loaded, even in local testing. And even then, it seems to only seems to happen kind of one at a time, down the line of thumbnails. Here's the code I'm working with:

JQuery :: Unbind (Keydown) Not Working Properly

Jan 26, 2010

I have a slight problem in FF3.5 that unbind('keydown'); is not working properly..
$("#q").unbind('keydown');
$("#q").keydown(function(e){
var code = (e.keyCode ? e.keyCode : e.which);
if(code==40 || code==38) {
var totalResults=$("#quick-search-results li");
var selectedResults=$("#quick-search-results li.qs-selected");
if(code==40) {
var nodeIndex=($("#quick-search-results li.qs-selected").length<=0) ? 0 : $("#quick-search-results").index('li.qs-selected');
alert(nodeIndex);
}}}); // end keydown

The above code alerts once on first keydown (with the down arrow key [code==40]), twice on the second, three times on the third and so on.. it worked fine in FF3 but a recent upgrade to FF3.5 seems to have broken the functionality..

Balancing Div Tags - Same Height Whilst They Are Hidden?

Sep 29, 2011

I have 4 div tags which are hidden to begin with from the css as shown below:

The contents of these is pulled out of a db and so the quantity of text changes (within certain parameters) and so the size of the divs changes, hence no height: setting.

I know I could get around this by setting an absolute height and using overflow to show a scrollbar but I would rather not have a scrollbar as the amount of text will only be 100-200 words.

Elsewhere I have used the following script to equalise div tags

CODE:

I tried this for my div tags but because they initially start with display:none it sets the height of them to zero. Is there a simple way to make all of these the same height whilst they are hidden?

IE 5+ Bug? How To Store Complex Objects Whilst Changing Pages

Jul 20, 2005

Does anybody know why IE5+ does *not* honour array objects (like a table)
across a session?

Example:
Frame A contains a var tableVar which is set via form Frame B (on init)
using top.A.tableVar = document.getElementById("someTable");

As long as Frame B is *not* 'refreshed/ reloaded' witk another page the
variable in Frame A is ok.

However, when the page is changed it just 'kills' the rows in tableVar.rows
(the lenght just turns to 0).

When tested with something simple like a String (instead of a table) the
above mechanism works as expected.

After two full days of mucking about this is strting to smell funny.
Does anybody have any idea/ suggestion as to the what and/ or why of this
behaviour.
