I am trying to create my own gui editor on how to reposition and delete html elements on a page.My question is can jquery select all html and javascript code associate by the id or name of the element of the html code.Lets say I have 150 images and want to delete image 40. I name all images element followed by the number out of 150. That way the code will select everything in the website that touches element40. This includes javascript and the html tags. It can delete the tag or edit it if needed.I am trying to create a layout editor. I just need the theory of how you can make changes to a websites code . I know how I can save but just need to know how to edit the code.
Since its not multiple its not going to show all the 3 options selected, so I created a little button with the easy statement in JQuery it is working, it makes the Select Multiple, it expands the Select and make the items selectable, but on the other hand it does not show the already selected options.
I recently learned that the <option> tags can not use the onclick attribute inside of IE.This works great for firefox, but sadly not a single version of internet explorer supports it (from what I am told via countless Google searches).I have been modifying my attempit at a solution to use the <select> tag with the attribute onchange. Maybe I am casing this wrong, or not seeing a solution as the below code does not operate in any browser, and no errors are reported back through firebug or IE.Excuse my sloopy attempt at {smarty tags} this script is written in a bunch of PHP object->vales and to save space cored the issue down to it's basics.On change of the select box, the value="5-28" is sent to javascript showBox to split the number away from the id_trips and only focus on the locations (the number before the '-' . IF the location matches the switch value then the box should show / hide or value change. The IDs are all correct I just think that there is a ' or a " or something off as I am not a javascript expert.

I've seen a variety of implementations around that enable selecting all or no checkboxes by using a checkbox to toggle that choice. However, I'm trying to find a way like this: I have two text links on my page: Select All, and Select None. How can I get those links to call a jquery function to select all or select no checkboxes in my form? As a little food for thought:
<head> $(function() { //function for selecting all or none...is there a way to make a single function that passes in a parameter to differentiate between selecting all or selecting none, or do I need a separate function for both?[code]....
I am currently designing a site, and on it there will be affiliate advertising. As i have many different affiliates i want the page to randomly select one of these affiliates' adverts to show in the places that i have designated. Each affiliate has given me some code to drop in to my html page. I was wondering if there was some javascript that would select randomly one of these bits of code and display it on the page load, in effect removing the need for me to continually have to manually update and change the code so that it shows a rotation of these adverts.I imagine that it would be some sort of script that reads from an array (this array has each different advert code in it).
It works fine in Firefox and Google Chrome but not in Opera and Internet Explorer.If you don't have Firefox or Google Chrome,when you click an element, if should be lighter green, rolling out of a clicked element, it should be darker green. The same happens with elements that are not selected, ubt they are gray. But in IE and Opera, when you roll out of a selected element, it is gray.I can't debug it in Opera because I have no debugger there, like Firebug.
Just wondering if anybody went through this before. The following code works fine in IE. It looks for checkboxes named market, although I use market[$id] for each checkbox. Code:
I wanted to create a small DHTML code that created a unordered list of input forms dependent on the number selected from the select dropdown menu. Problem is that it doesn't seem to want to generate the list. I think the variables are within the scope of the function too, and I didn't get an errors from the javascript console when using firebug. The script itself runs, I tested it when I used the old standby alert(); to see if the script was active. Here's the code:
and in this code, it works, the call is made and text is added. in the other code I don't get a change at all. Not even in the database that add.php manipulates.
I am trying to make a gui for clients to edit a php page that displays html and javascript.
I want the user to be able to move html elements around and even edit it like add effects like fade in and out etc.
Then after all the changes I want to overwrite the existing php file that does this for that user. how can you make such changes and then save it to a file?
It's an html / javascript editor but using a gui instead of allowing them to directly touch the code. It would be a security risk if I allow such a thing. So I need to program a interface that would make such changes and save them to file.
Like how can you delete and add new javascript code to the file?
This works fine when I place this code under the html in the main source, but if I try to add this Jquery code to an external js sheet it doesnt seem to work?
Currently my js sheet is called in the header, when I move this link to the footer of my page the code works again, so Im guessing this has something to do with where the jquery code is placed in relation to the code Im trying to hide?
How I can keep my js in the header but still make the content disappear on click?
I am trying to create 3 boxes with 2nd select box content to be uploaded on the basis of value selected in first box and third box list should be uploaded on the basis of value selected in 2nd box.i have written coding for that as below but it is not working .
I have a php function that list all of the countries from my database as a select option, then based on what the user selects for their country im using jquery to make an ajax call and get all of the states/regions for that country. This part works fine. I'm running into an issues, as when a user login's in to edit their profile, how would I make the select change based on what is in the databse.
I have a ColdFusion page with a select drop down list. On submit, I'm storing the value in a cfparam and trying to use jQuery to auto select that particular option. Currently I'm using :contains but this is unacceptable because it selects the last item that contains the cfparam.
$("option:contains('<cfoutput>#form.company_type#</cfoutput>')").attr('selected', 'selected'); Is there something like this: $("option").equals('<cfoutput>#form.company_type#</cfoutput>')").attr('selected', 'selected');
[Code]....
I willconsider other alternatives to accomplishing my objective.
According to [URL] intended way for jQuery to change dynamically the selected option of a dropdown select control isassigningthe desired text instead of the value. I found this way veryinconvenient (data structures usually deal with value codes, not value descriptions) and it seems to work only sometimes.
Trying different options I came out with this approach that seems to do the job so far:
function setSelect(pID,pSelectedValue) { $('#'+pID + ' option:selected').removeAttr('selected');
While appending the option-elements to the targetselect the original option-elements disappear (exactly at step of line 13). This is unwanted behaviour.
This is what I'm trying to do:When a user selects a group in the first SELECT box, another SELECTbox should be loaded from an external PHP-file (using MySQL), based onthe group-id of the first SELECT box.I use this code:
I am a novice, almost to an intermediate-level JavaScript guy, so much of this is new to me. I appreciate your patience reading this.
I have a routine that creates some HTML on the fly (updateFilters() function) and after the HTML is created, I attempt to access some fields (elements) on the form itself.
I works fine if I place an alert() statement after the HTML is created, but when I remove, the code errors out.
I have tried the setTimeout() statement, but I cannot grab the element --- undefined or null is returned. It seems that the form is the only element I can get a handle on --- everything else is undefined or null...
Here is the code:
function editQuery() { var f; var x; var myForm = document.forms[0]; // Get the row filters that were used in the last query.. for (f = 1; f < 16; f++) { var filter = eval("myForm.FilterList_" + f); if (filter.selectedIndex > 0) { var methodElement = element("FilterMethod_" + f); var methodIndex = methodElement.selectedIndex; var savedFilterMethodValue = methodElement.options[methodIndex].text; var choicesElement = element("FilterChoices_" + f); var choicesIndex = choicesElement.selectedIndex; if (isNaN(choicesIndex)) { var savedFitlerValues = choicesElement.value; } else { var savedFitlerValues = choicesElement.options[choicesIndex].text; } updateFilters(filter); // update the filters // take the saved methods and values and then update the selections // Alert here makes the code work.. // alert("Try this"); // Wait for HTML.. setTimeout("completeEdit()", 1000); function completeEdit() { // Since the object was updated, get the object again.. var methodElement = element("FilterMethod_" + f); for (x = 0; x < methodElement.options.length; x++) { if (methodElement.options[x].text == savedFilterMethodValue) { methodElement.options[x].selected = true; break; } else { methodElement.options[x].selected = false; } } // Since the object was updated, get the object again.. var choicesElement = element("FilterChoices_" + f); for (x = 0; x < choicesElement.options.length; x++) { if (choicesElement.options[x].text == savedFitlerValues) { choicesElement.options[x].selected = true; break; } else { choicesElement.options[x].selected = false; } } // Only display next row if f = 2.. // If only one row was used, no reason display the next row.. if (f == 2) { displayNextFilter(f - 1); // display it } } clearTimeout(timeOut); } } }
Do I have to pass the object (the form, the elements) to the completeEdit() function in the setTimeout() statement?
